I have taken the Christmas quiz a several times and I evidentally still have a lot to learn. I have been reading from the different links on this site and I was wondering if anybody can suggest other places to learn from. This has been a great experience and I am determined to achieve this. Thank You

I was wondering if and when anyone uses the chat program on christmaschatter.com? I've been there a few times and there is never anyone in there.

Haagarr - you'll find several links to gain further knowledge by clicking on the link (likely in the top right hand corner)HOME, when the main page is displayed scroll down on the left side to Christmas Online. On the right side of your screen, you'll see Friends of MMC, those links will take you to new discoveries.
 Just don't get lost and forget the way back here.

:hello: Hi Annette, you can use the Chat Room anytime. Quite a few of us connect on Sunday evenings between 7-11 pm EST, but if I see a few names on at the same time, I'll usually check and see if anyone's chatting. There are links to ChristmasChatter at other forums (affiliated with the Merry Network) so sometimes you can meet up with a jolly member you've never met before.

:hello: I'm doing grrreat! Thanks for asking. I'm looking forward to the staff Christmas Party at work this year. I've only attended half the ones that have occured sometimes conflict in schedule, sometimes location.
I'm on the organizing committee this year and it's going to be grand time. It's going to be a Winter Wonderland theme. I'll do my best to get pictures of the decorations. Can't share the pics of the guests, etc. but the decorations are going to cost a pretty penny and will set the mood for the evening.
The buffet dinner is of a fancy nature - not your regular every day buffet.
We have a huge venue to hold our gathering. There will be a place to take photos, the dress will be more than casual - the odd Snow Queen will show up with her spouse in black denim jeans and a Christmas sweater. (Or not)
The music - we're planning ahead for that too. There will be a DJ, but you know how some DJ's will pass out song request cards? Well, we're putting ours out through staff newsletters (pay stubs) so folks attending can list three of their favourite types of music and choose three songs they'd like to hear during the night.
Instead of numerous spot dances for prizes, I'm in charge of the Music and Movie Holiday Trivia quiz. If they guess the right answer they can choose a prize. It just keeps it a little more Christmassy.
There's tons of more plans in the works. I hope it goes well.

:rudolph: Here and around the Merry Forums that I visit, I'm excited about the new members joining and also sharing in those last moments of anticipation with the members who have become special Christmas friends.

Dominick --I have to agree with you about the weather! Im so glad its not in the 80's anymore! While I would love to see some snow, I am content with the low 50's right now!!

:hello: Thanks, dear ~ the decorations are mainly blue and silver with frosted taffeta, it's going to be beautiful. The location is near the woods so if it's snowing it will add to our enjoyment.

I too am doing well. I am looking forward to having Thanksgiving at our house this year. Mike (dvdguy) and I have been married for 5 years and this is the first time we're getting a chance to have a holiday celebrated at our house. There's only going to be 6 people, but it will be nice.

As for Christmas, I'm looking forward to decorating the house and enjoying how pretty and festive it will be. I'm looking forward to having people over for a Christmas open house...hopefully this year, but not sure. I'm looking forward to sitting on the couch with the lights off, watching the 'Yule Log' dvd with my hubby.

MrsH...5 years! WHy, your still newlyweds! Congrats! We are having Thanksgiving at our house too, Its so great to get together to have a wonderful holiday, and your first time hosting is sooo much fun--a wee bit frustrating, but remember this--Sit down and hang out..dont let dinner keep you from having fun..and if it does..make em all help out LOL!!
I hope you have an awesome Thanksgiving! and I , too, can not wait till snow falls and I can watch the yule log video myself, cozied up on the couch with no lights on just the christmas tree and the "fireplace"!

I'm with you, MrsH. I am also, hopefully, going to have a Christmas open house this year. Every year I think about having one, but something always comes up!

I have been hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas at my house since 2005. My grandparents are in their 80's so I took over hosting to take the pressure off them. Besides, I truly love having my family over, especially during the holidays.

OK, here's your first problem/challenge:

When I post here at work or at home, there is no problem whatsoever.
But when I am at my father's house and try to post, the system will not let me. I can get onto the site and into the forums just fine and I can read everything that has previously been posted. I will hit "reply" and the reply box will appear. I enter my message, hit enter and always get an error message stating that my message is "too short" and needs to be longer than 2 characters. I get this no matter how long a message I type and try to enter.

It's a real strange problem I have never encountered before.
Any ideas as to what is happening? Solutions?
(I have no trouble posting to other message boards on his computer, just this one.)
Thanks.

That's an odd one. Can you tell me what browser you're using on that computer?

The best I can suggest for you right now is the generic response of clear your cookies and see if that does anything for you.

Same one as at home - the regular (Microsoft?) internet explorer browser.
When you say "clear your cookies" do you mean to delete them?

I believe I had this problem when I first signed up on here. I think it was a cookie problem. To delete cookies go to START click on CONTROL PANEL the click on the INTERNET OPTIONS then under the GENERAL tab look down for BROWSING HISTORY and click on DELETE....Not sure what version of windows you are running...if that don't work go to START the SEARCH files and folders type in COOKIES a list will come up right click and hit delete....hope this helps.

I wonder. Would I really need to delete ALL of the cookies or just the one from this site?
If I erase them all, I will lose saved passwords from other sites, etc.

dominick
11-08-2007, 02:13 PM
There are different versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer.

If you have a hard time remembering passwords, you should keep them written down somewhere. It's a bad idea to rely on the computer to save them.

dvdguy
11-08-2007, 02:18 PM
i cant tell you how many times a "remembered" password didnt show

Crown 84
11-08-2007, 03:15 PM
Oh, yes. I keep them noted.
But with the computer "remembering", I have a short cut.
If I delete all the cookies, I will have to re-enter all of the passwords. That is not a major problem but if I can solve the problem by just deleting the cookie for this site, I would rather do it that way.

dominick
11-08-2007, 03:46 PM
The short answer is yes, you can, but the long answer that you probably don't want to hear is that it will be better for you to just delete them all. They should be cleared every once in awhile.

dvdguy
11-08-2007, 03:48 PM
oop I guess i should do mine

11-19-2007, 06:05 AM
Well, Dominick, I deleted every cookie on the entire computer and I still get the same error message:
"Your post is too short and needs to be longer than 2 characters".
Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Why am I having such a time with all the "Last Pages"???? Never happened before, why now?

Takes a month of Sundays to get to the last page of some of these enormous threads...what can I do, if anything?

Thanks for your help, I know there are others having the same difficulty.

RadioJonD

The default last page for the 2008 countdown is 277. As of this post there are only 258 pages. I've found that by backing up over the 277 in the address bar (after clicking "last page") and typing 258 (or whatever the current last page is), I get to the real last page quicker than scrolling. Maybe that will at least help a little.

Cedar - Jeff is looking into it. I know it's been happening in the Fun & Games section too.
I manage okay by clicking on the first page and once it loads I click on last, I can go back a few days to where I left off from there.

The Marx Brothers always seem to offer some answers.

Yuletide, has anyone answered your question yet? I just noticed it.

:treeguy: Go to this link for the tutorial provided by Dominick with pictures to assist, you can’t go wrong.
http://www.mymerrychristmas.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8513

If you already know how to do it and are still experiencing problems, perhaps your images are too large, it takes time for the system to resize them, you're better off if you resize them first on your own and then upload them.

Hope that helps.
