A noose display or a controversy. What gets me about this is that they've had the noose on display for seven years and nobody has minded until now.

noose display. guy put it up as a conversation piece he says
You know lots of folks got hung back in the day.
Maybe they should just change the black hoodie.

In some places the *government* hangs people still. It's called a death sentence. I don't want to be insensitive to anyone but I have to wonder why people can't see things for what they really are.

i understand how people feel, but sometimes its not a racial statement, its a decoration

I think given the current sensitivity to things I wouldn't have put it up. Around town here they have been reports of "nooses" placed in trees and on cars of certain individuals. Given how aware and hyped this is, I think it was in very poor taste to use it as a decoration this year. But for folks to threaten the family or for there to be a special law passed? Give me a break.

My two cents added. As a young black woman I'm not offended by this act, but I could see how it would offend others. I'm one who judges each case individually and if I were there I would just ignore it and go on with my life. However, I suppose it would be different if I had something racially personally happened to me. I've never had to face anything like that but I've often heard of others who have and while it angers me I try not to get wrapped up in it. It doesn't bother me like that, I have more important things to be concerned with than someones Halloween decorations. It only shows them as the ignorant one not me.

I don't understand what this has to do with Christmas.

Anyways if it has been going on for 7 years and no one had a problem than there shouldn't be a problem. I don't think it was put up for racist purposes so where the problem?

It has to do with Christmas because the family has now erected a sign in place of their decorations saying that they won't display Halloween or Christmas decorations in their yard anymore. Guess they used to go all out.

I used to live in the town that this noose thing is taking place in. It is such a nice little town, really good living...It's a shame that the folks couldn't just talk about this and come to some agreement...If I put something up that was offensive to my neighbors, I'd take it down. I don't own the town I live in and I owe it to those that share my street to not make the place a place they don't feel comfortable in...I mean, the noose was one small part of a much larger display...To take the whole display down and then to post that sign saying that they are no longer going to decorate at all is a little immature if you ask me...Do these folks really believe that if they remove the noose that somehow their rights have been violated? C'mon...

I can see how people there see it offensive. But they are
ignoring the fact that it's just a decoration. They need to stop looking at it out of text and go on with their lives.
