Just wandering how decorations look at the homes of the different christmas lovers.

Normally mine are traditional red and green with some home made decorations to top it off.

Typically, our decorations are white lights with burgundy, green and gold. We decorate our Christmas tree with nautical decorations since we live in a tropical area.

I remember spending a Christmas season in Puerto Rico and a group of us made a paper fireplace to sit next to. When you live in the tropics you do what you can to bring the Christmas of home with you.

I see no one to this point has voted for all in one color. I think you need at least green and red for it to feel like Christmas.

Come on GREEN and RED!

Have you ever tried the one color theme? We got ourselves a flocked tree and thought we'd go red. It was like having the world's largest night light.

So we thought something more subtle would work so then we went green. But that didn't feel right either.

Then we went multi-color and that just seemed to do the trick.

Personally, and this might be reflected in the colors of the forum here, but I love the deep greens and burgundys of Christmas.

Anything I can get my hands on.
I have Christmas decorations that my Mum had in the 70's - WAY before I was born. My Mum wanted to chuck them away, but I hang them up, cos they are lucky for me.
I love gold and silver streamers, and any colour tinsel.
The tree MUST be green - I really don't like the white ones!

For several years we went with a Victorian theme, which was beautiful but did not remind me of my childhood Christmases, which is a necessary ingredient if I hope to attain that magical feeling. Lately I have been doing the decorating and have moved us back toward a mainstream 1960s look, big red and green bulbs being the central element. What I would really like is some of those skinny bulbs that start bubbling after they heat up. I'm off to Ebay!

We've always gone with basically the same decorations every year, so it's dominantly dark red, green, and gold around the house! Also a lot of wooden decorations, pinecones, spices, etc. Our outdoor lights are rainbow coloured, though. And my room always has a blue/silver, snowflake theme to it, because those are my favourite colours :-D

I'm slowly building up my decorations every year. I don't quite know what to call my style. I love it though. I try to decorate every room.

My decorating, both Christmas and regular, has one theme: "collected over time."

At Christmas I have some red, some green, some burgandy, and some gold. It seems to work OK.

Well, this picture thing just doesn't want to work. :point:

Last year we had a red, gold, and snow theme. We havent quite got all the details for this year but we do know this, we are buying a bigger tree for the downstairs family room. we are going to put lights and garland on the fire place mantel as well as on the stair railing. We have also thought about hiring someone to put Ice sickle lights on our house this year (Last year was our first yera in our new 2 story & my dad did not feel comfortable doing them, to be honest I wouldent do them either, but this year we plan on hireing someone.) :wiggy:  :yahoo:

i couldn't vote because our color scheme changes every five-seven years. When I was little, it was very eclectic, then when I got a bit older it was red and green, then after that it was silver and white, then silver and royal blue, and now it's pale blue and gold. It's beautiful!

My mother changes her color scheme yearly. She has several artifical trees, some flocked. SHe does a lot of silver and gold. One year she did doves and had birds all over the house ( fake ) It's a surprise each year as to what we'll see when arriving for Christmas

Last year we did the tree in a pink & purple theme, it was very different, there was even a purple feather boa in there!
It sounds tacky but it was really nice, I guess it depends on how you do it & the exact shades you use, this year however we're going for red, white and silver and I'm thinking of a snow theme for everywhere else, If you want a white christmas in Australia you can keep dreaming unless you DIY lol

usually i draw my plans out for what i want done and color them in with colored pencils

ex: take drawing paper draw out my tree then add lights etc.. i think this year i will do gold and silver to match the room it's going to be in (formal living room).

as far as other decorations around the house i just wing it then when it comes to outside i'm like a mad man taking measurements in the middle of the night making sure my lights will fit all around my roof and garage once i get the base of lighting the outlines of my house down with gold lights then i add the small things like a snowman here and there santa hanging out by the door. i like traditional things like wreaths and such but not into the new fangled devices like air-driven snowmen and santas it's not my thing.

We're very taditional in deep jewel tones. I suppose you could say that red and green dominate but they are accented by silver, gold and dark blue.

I chose "All one color", which is technically true I guess since white isn't a color. Blue and white for me. cheesy

My wife likes Old World St Nicholas and I have some Rankin/Bass figures my youngest plays with that are out and about. Our house is kind of "woodsy" looking so we try to play up to that look.

I voted for red and green but thatīs is not quite true. I think I would have to say that my style is retro and kitch. I use all bright colors and mix things I find at fleamarkets with stuff I buy in stores. I love love love tinsel and everything that sparkels. And multicolor lights.
