I am on weight watchers and I like having a spot like this on a christmas forum. As we all know if we dont watch our points or core foods this time of year we will have problems with weight loss. Are there any other weight watchers out there I can commiserate with? :?

Not me, Santa isn't one either, but I guess you already knew that from pictures of him. I won't tell him what I'm saying (I work with him). But, I'm sure you'll find someone out there that's a weight watcher,

Well, I count points now and then. Actually, it is something my wife is more into than me. I've never tried it at Christmas time. I wonder what some naturally occuring low-point Christmas foods might be? Certainly not fudge.

I did try a sugar-free candy cane the other day that wasn't bad...

10-16-2004, 12:04 PM
well FYI fruit cake is 4 points for a 2 oz slice--better stay away from that or I would be wearing it for sure. Some low points food naturally would be on the vegetable and fruit plate. Weight watcher meetings and cook books have great recipe alternatives and you dont even know you are eatting "diet"

You're right, the quality of foods on Weight Watchers is always excellent. My problem is the QUANTITY. A big guy like me can't eat like a bird. When my wife limits me to 30 points in a day I starve.

Hey, congrats, gracie! :D That's super.

I'm up and down in my weight too. Elves bear a great responsibility when it comes to eating cookies of every kind, you know.

Jeff works for See's Candies. (That's how he pays for MMC, I hear). Anyway, he is a dangerous guy to know if you're counting points.

weight watchers has 2 plans the points plan and the core plan. The core plan is eat all you need to be satisfied ( not all you want!!) of certian core foods--but I dont think candy, cookies and cocoa are core foods. Too bad I wish they were. As of last Thurs I am down 10 1/4 pounds in 3 weeks . I cant wait til this Thurs I will be even better!!!

good luck, Ernest, on your own weight loss adventure!!!I am sure we will have our ups and downs( literally)

WOW! Congratulations, gracie!

I have to admit, I lost a lot of weight last spring. Cut out the soda, reduced the sugar, sucked down water like a camel. Dropped 25lbs easily.

Then the BBQ season started and it all ended.

I'm not too sure I want to go after it again until after Christmas. Food is one of the reasons I really love this time of the year...sigh!

I hear you - I drink a ton of waterand quit drinking soda all together( altho in Michigan we call it POP) I was drinking a case of caffiene free diet coke a week all by my self, then I heard that the nuetra sweet in it was causing so many health problems. Guess What, I started feeling GOOD right away and am having a lot of fun watching that scale go down each week

Gracie: Sonny and I have been following the WW plan since July 24th. Sonny has lost 11 lbs and I have lost 5 1/2. Why is that...men always loose so much faster? But Sonny does his 5 mile walks, 10 laps swimming, etc. I don't even come close to that. I'm lucky to be at the gym doing the 30 min. treadmill 5 days a week. But we are happy with the food plan. It is very healthy and satisfying. We are into salsa and fresh veggies big time...with no points. We hit this snack every night. We both feel better and clothes fitting better and even loose for Sonny. Sonny has 10 more lbs to loose and I have 6 to go to be at goal which is 128 lbs. Those last lbs are the hardest and I expect he will reach his goal first. Stick with it Gracie...It does work but you do have to be focused. I found a great WW cheesecake recipe. Going to make this when I loose another lb. This will be my reward..

I'm an old weight watcher but I haven't been participating lately. Great job gracie on the loss.
I've been very bad for the past 6 months. Being stuck at home and bored, I've been sitting around saying to myself "Hmmm...what shall I bake today?" It wouldn't be bad if I was sharing what I'd bake but alas, I wasn't. I finally figured out that if I crave something, I should bake it, eat a piece and then send the rest to work with my husband. I haven't been gaining since I started doing that.
Keep up the good work.

I kinda sorta am. I am not a member of Weight Watchers but I use their point system somewhat. It's an easy way to figure out how much and what you can eat. I am also a big user of all the 100 calorie snack packs like the Doritos and popcorn. They are easy to take along and normally do the trick when I need a little something.

I ride a stationary bike for 30 minutes a day (don't know how long or at what speed, the time keeper thingy is broken on it) and walk 1.6 miles a day and keep increasing. So far so good!

I'm a WW member. I made Lifetime in March of this year. I lost a little over 50 pounds. I appreciate WW during the holidays. It helps keep me in check. I cvn eat the cookies. I just can't eat my cookies ad everyone else's too.

I tried Atkins for a month, got sick of it. Had to eat stff I don't normally eat like bacon and pork rinds and cream cheese. Could not tolerate it anymore. I need my M&M's, bread, and pasta. I don't smoke or drink so guess I'll clog my arteries.

LOL!! I am proud of you!

Well I splurged today, I actually ate a fast food cheeseburger and while it was good it wasn't all I was hoping. I kinda feel bad for even eating it, not guilty bad...I literally mean bad.

But I thought I deserved a splurge, I am down 16.5 so I am 8.5 pounds away from my goal. No more splurging til the 29th and then everyone better watch out. Its beer and chili time at the Halloween party!!!

watch out because I am gonna make a pig out of myself. No, not very ladylike but I haven't had much to eat since I started this thing and chili happens to be one of my fall faves. The beer is just a bonus.

I hope there isn't any bad side effects...except for the missing fingers dvdguy spoke of!

Chili isn't really that bad for a diet unless you pile on cheese and sour cream.

I am a WW Lifetime Member since August and I must admit I am a bit worried about maintaining through the holidays. I lost 41 pounds over 7 months but all the wonderful foods and baked goods and all the added parties and get togethers. UGH!!

Well, I truly believe that WW is a good enough plan that we can get through the holidays.

Christy Carol
10-17-2006, 12:32 PM
Good for you! I am hoping to do good thru the holidays but I am also giving myself room for an indulgence or two. I figure even if I really behave I will probably gain some but I will just get it back off after its all said and done. The holidays only come but once a year and I plan on celebrating, just not over-celebrating!!! :D

I don't worry about, the extra weight I gain will allow the car to have more traction on ice.

once you hit your goal, which you have, you now know that you can do it!! so dont beat yourself up if you gain a few... just be sensible and exercise and do not deprive yourself. feeling deprived is the best way to have a weight crisis.

Thank you so much!! It is nice to fit into my jeans again AND be able to breathe!!

And yes, I do plan to keep exercising and walking and eating correctly. If I lose more it won't hurt my feelings!!

I actually haven't been depriving myself so much. I have had an occassion to splurge here or there. And will be again come Saturday nite.

Plus all the shopping you get to do getting new clothes ! I was 300lbs when I played football in college and when I graduated I dropped 100. I still use my old undershorts to cover the flowers when we have a late spring frost. 1 pair covers almost the whole front yard

Christy Carol
10-27-2006, 01:17 PM
LMAO!! I can just see your neighbors shaking their heads in shock when the frost hits.

Yeah, the BF mentioned the other night that he guesses I want a new wardrobe now. But since I am back to what I weighed before I actually have alot of clothes that fit so I am good to go until Spring.

I have been away from this board for a little while but tonight I am reading and very impressed with results many are having with WW...especially with Carol. Sonny and I waned away from WW at his desire. I didn't want to do this but he thought we could eat fattening foods and lose weight. We did Atkins for nearly two years...lost a few pounds here and there but feeling very lightheaded and not up to par but I hung in there with Sonny with his idea of low carb. Some of the low carb recipes are really great allowing real fat forinstance in cream cheese, whipping cream and bacon recipes, etc. Eventually, we stopped losing weight and maintaining only with some weight gain. My heart had always been there with WW. I finally talked Sonny into going back with WW with all the fresh vegs, fruits, and low fat foods. It is such a healthy plan...what can I say.. Since we are back at WW we are beginning to see weight loss once again. WW makes sense and it is a healthy way of eating. I want to lose 10 lbs for my liking and Sonny wants to lose 10 lbs also. In my opinion, WW is the healthiest weight loss plan out there. Can anyone prove me different? I am all ears. :???:

Hey twinkle! I am still all WW. I took a break thru the holidays (dont tell me I cant have my eggnog!! ) but I am back somewhat on track. You are right...atleast IMO there is nothing better than this plan. Atkins does nothing but raise your cholesterol. You might not be as hungry but your heart pays for it. I dont care how much you dress up eggs, bacon and cheese...it is still bad for you. Atkins just tries to make you believe otherwise.

Now, I will say this...while I do practice WW, I am an avid exerciser. When weather allows I walk 3+ miles a day and do 30 minutes on a stationary bike. I can tell when I dont walk because I am more hungry and more likely to splurge on junk. I cannot wait til better weather.

And you know what is the best of all this...I have been able to adjust my cooking to WW ways and have not lost taste or quality and DH has no idea he is eating healthy at all. Yet he tries to brag to me when his jeans are just a little bit too big and I just brag on him and smile...cuz I know "I" made them that way!

Carol: It is soo true about eating healthy with ww that not even family members realize they are following a plan along with you. :-D Good for you. Exercise is what I need to do more of...this is my downfall but will get back with my walks this week since weather is really nice for walking now..I use to do mall walks with controlled temps and this was ideal.. Right now we are at a stand still because of not keeping the portions low and having sweet desserts when at different outings.. To me ww is a mindset and ready to get moving again with it.
:)
