When do the Christmas lights switch on in your area?

Ours switch on on 22nd November everything lights up, the Winter Wonderland Ice Rink, Christmas Edinburgh Wheel, German Market etc. Can't Wait

I usually turn mine on for a few hrs a night....I usually try to have everything up after Thanksgiving. I noticed some neighbors already have their homes all lit up. As for the local business' they haven't started decorating yet. We also have a Christmas parade where I live too...lots of fun!

Our town does a Christmas in the park where they decorate the township park and put up a christmas tree in the gazebo. They usually happens in the beginning of Dec.
They will put the holiday banners through the center of town around the end of Nov.

In the town I live, the main lights go on the first Saturday in December (the local worthies having erected them all the previous 2 Sundays)

Like Euan, the larger places tend to switch theirs on in the middle of November (I didn't know Edinburgh had a German market....??)

everything that the city does to decorate is already up, they will be turned on the week of Thanksgiving at some point. as for us personaly, whenever we get them up they come on.

In the area I live in the tree lighting ceremony is this Friday with the holiday parade Saturday morning. Some of the stores in the mall are already; somethings around here get started earlier than others. I suppose everyone should be just about done with decorations by Thanksgiving. We personally won't decorate at home until the first weekend of December.

Traditionally it's ususally the day after Thanksgiving. Many of the towns have the decorations up but not on yet.
I usually turn my outside lights on the day after Thanksgiving.

The Friday after Thanksgiving is our towns annual Christmas lights parade. That's when Santa comes to town and when they will light all the downtown lights!
