This Friday night I am making Christmas cookies with my two grand daughters ages 6 and 7.
This even usually transform my kitchen into a white wonderland with splashes of colors from all the sprinkles that end up on the floor.

One trick I have learned to make it more enjoyable for everyone, I make up the dough before the kids get here, so then all we have to do is roll it out and cut out the sugar cookies and then the fun part of decorating.

I started doing this with my first grandchild who is now 14 and no longer interested. It's a great way to enjoy the grandchildren and make wonderful memories.

So rolling pins will be floured and ready along with everything else in the kitchen.

Ahh thats so sweet, sounds like a good time to me. I also love doing with my daughter who is also 6. Except I bake the cookies and she does the decorating. Creating memories that will last a lifetime...love it!

I haven't started holiday baking yet, but will probably start next week. I like to make something special for when we decorate the house for the holidays. This year I'm making pumpkin bars. It's a new recipe, and I'm hoping we like it enough to become a tradition. I'm also baking pumpkin pie bread, peanut butter blossom cookies, and oatmeal cookies. For Thanksgiving and Christmas morning I'm making a baked omellette for breakfast. I made it last year for the first time, and it was delicious.

What fun! I loved making cookies with my own kids. It will be a while for grandkids. Both of mine are finishing up college. I miss those days.

I always did them with mine when they were small and hope to do the same some day if I am blessed with grandchildren.
I would mix a double batch up so that we would end up with at least one batch baked!
Every year we also do gingerbread houses. Each got their own to put together and decorate. I was so much fun that even now that they are in thier 20's they still insist on doing them (they are just neater about it now!)
