May sound silly, but does anyone have any plans for December 1st, beginning 25 days until Christmas? On Dec. 1, my mom and I are driving to Starbucks about 15 minutes away, then get some stuff to go, and drive around looking at lights (people better put them up by then!)

On December 1st we have a Christmas party & I am so excited!! It's an annual Christmas party at a friends house. We have just become friends with these people over the last few years (they are our neighbors at the lake) & last year was the 1st one we could make it too & we had a ball! This is something like their 24th annual... She makes a TON of cabbage rolls for the party & another friend makes "bambi stew" - a soup using deer meat (I don't eat it, but everyone goes crazy over it) Everybody brings a snack & it's just a really good time. We get to see a lot of people we haven't seen for awhile. The only bad part is the hour drive home at 1:30'ish in the morning (the time just goes so darn fast!) Last year I stopped at the gas station, got a big ol cup of coffee, turned on my Christmas music (TSO) & cruised down the highway! Then I was wired from the coffee when I got home so I sat up with all my Christmas lights on & listened to Christmas music till I got sleepy around 3:30 AM! Lol! I hope to have a repeat this year!

We are having my son's birthday party on December 1st this year. He will turn 6 years old on November 30. After the party, I am sure we will be staying home so he can play with his gifts.

My lights are up year round, and the package wrapping is year round, the selection is year round, the Christmas music is year round... I think I'm in a rut...

The kids have had them since they were small and we have a lot of fun with them. There is a pocket for everyday, and something special in each one. I had better get hopping if I am going to have them realy in time!

December 1st I'll open the first window on my advent calendar. Behind each window is a piece of chocolate hidden :-D

And on Sunday, Dec 2 I'll light the first candle on my "advent wreath" which I still have to make. In the catholic church it is tradition to light a candle on the four Sundays before Christmas. Dec 2 one candle, Dec 9 two and so on.

I used to set up a chain of twenty five tea lights in pretty glas jars and light one each day of December but I recently moved and my living room is too small for the smoke of 25 candles :-?

15 minutes? Where I'm from you can find a Starbucks at least in 5 minutes in any direction you drive. That might be an exaggeration but there are a lot of them around

I don't think so... I usually start all my Christmasy stuff the day after Thanksgiving... but this Saturday, I'm going to my Aunt & Uncle's "Holiday Candlelight Celebration (Annual Christmas Open House) at their Flower Shop. It's part of a City Christmas Walk. I'm very excited for that; it's always a great time.

On Dec 1st I will put the advent calenders. And since Dec 1st is Sat. We might do something fun and Christmassy. I love to drive around and see light displays and drink something yummy from Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts.

Hmmm, something to think about. I don't usually do anything special on that day, but I think maybe I will this year.

we've never done anything "special" for Christmas on Dec. 1st. Never really thought of it I guess.
This year, since it's on a Sat. we will probably get our tree. We usually get it the last weekend in Nov.
Dec.1st the the day one of my brothers passed away (I was 5), so it's never been a jolly or celebrated day.

December 1st here is when the countdown clock will be lit up. It would normally be the day we get the first Christmas ham and some of the rest of the Christmas groceries. But since I work 10 1/2 hours on Saturdays it will have to be Sunday for the shopping.
