I have a question for anyone who can answer, more like an opinion- really, there is no wrong answer. Do you find it wrong for adults to tell you what you should get them for Christmas. I know children usually express what they want, but shouldnt adults kind of understand what Christmas is all about. I mean, is it my imagination or has this become a commercial holidays... Maybe I am wrong. When you take your time out to buy a gift, wrap it and give it, it's so the other person is surprised. Please give me your input...

Thanks and Happy Holidays :-D

I understand if you ASK them but if they just go rattleing of what they want. i think thet's sorta rude :-(

There are those that look at Christmas gifts in a practical way. Give and get things you need and can use. I don't see it as being wrong but just not as enjoyable as being surprised.

I have made it a point for years to tell people I dont need anything so when they do give me a gift its a suprise & I love it because they took the time to think of me.

I, too, like presents to be a surprise. It makes wrapping it worthwhile. I like to give surprises as well. If the recipient knows what it is, it seems just a formality to wrap and label it.

if they know what it is, you might as well just hand it to them.

One year I made it known I wanted a new stereo...I got one but it was just a photo of one wrapped in a box.

Well, then I'll take one of those big 50¢ super balls out of the grocery store vending machines, and I ask that the remaining 20¢ be donated to the Salvation Army Santa outside.

I think that's a pretty wide open question. I think it depends on certain situations, like if its between a couple, i think you should know your partner well enough that you can get them something the need or want with the element of surprise. Now if its friends and you don't exactly know what they might need, its kind of a good idea to find out, because i'm sure you'd rather spend your money on something they will use instead of something that will end up in the closet for years.

I LIKE TO BE SURPRISED, AND I LIKE TO SURPRISE PEOPLE W/ MY GIFTS. I START SHOPPING IN OCTOBER, SO I TAKE MY TIME WHEN PICKING OUT PRESENTS FOR PEOPLE. I DON'T MIND IF SOMEONE TELLS ME SOMETHING THAT THEY REALLY WANT. I MIGHT JUST ADD TO IT.

My wife and I almost always know what we get each other because we've asked the other for it. There are also little things we suprise each other with, plus the stocking stuffers are always a suprise. For the rest of our family, with her parents and mine, they ask for a list of things we would like, so that they have a variety. For the rest of our family (siblings, grandparents, etc) it's always a suprise.
