This year we will have 26 people at our family Christmas celebration and we have run out of mantle and floor space for stockings. Does anyone have a large family and any unique ideas for displaying Christmas stockings? Thanks.

We have this problem every year in my house. We line the walls with them -- good old fashioned heavy thumbtacks. Sure, it looks "tacky". But it never fails to draw out conversation!

I would look at Michael's or any craft store for something. Maybe you could buy 3 pieces of wood make like something similiar to an H something like this
I-----------------I and add some decorative premade snowflakes on it, maybe a painted wood santa, angel, tree etc. You could use garland, paint the wood/holder itself too...I am sure at your local hardware store you could get some S hooks to hang these. Of course be sure to measure the wood for it's length (not sure how many you plan to hang) as well as for the heighth. Hope this idea helps. Good luck!

for all the ideas. I really love the idea of coat hangers on the curtain rods!! Inexpensive and functional! Thanks. I would still love more ideas...

we usually hang ours on the tv stand but this year we won't be doing that, so this year i think we'll be hanging them by the bedroom doors.

You could also try hanging them around a doorway, from a shelf in your living room or get another tree and hang the stockings on it.

My husband built me a shelf for all my angels I collect & I hang the stockings on that, plus we have a half wall in our living room that i have the rest of them hanging on. We have ours plus I do my mom's, my youngest sister & a little boy I babysit. I like the idea of hanging them from the curtain rods too, that is a great idea.

If you can hang them on the end of the beds, just pin them to a mattress or buy nice holders and hang them around a table/sideboard or even a piano if you've got one & it would work

If you have a two story you can hang them on the stairway.:tree:

Unfortunately I'll be spending this Christmas without my family, just a couple of friends and I so I won't have this problem as there will only be 4 stockings to display, but I suggest you go for the wall hanging as this would really be useful, even if it looks rather funny. After all, you need to display all 26...Good luck! :snowball:

This is a problem we have every year, especially since we just moved. I am going to work on it for this year and am going to see if any of the ideas here would work....thanks.
