SYDNEY (AFP) — Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday.

Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported.

One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute.

"Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids.

"We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph.

"Leave Santa alone."

Shoot, I was coming here to post about this and there's already two pages in the thread!

Anyway, I think we've just crossed over into the city center of looneytown to think that Santa saying "ho, ho, ho" is offensive to anyone!

Skinny Santas chortling Ha Ha Ha...............:-?

Yes, I can see how that's SO much better. I can sleep easier at night knowing there's someone out there on the ball and keeping these un PC traditions under control!!!!!!

Dear Moderators/Admin

We need a "banging my head off a wall" smiley

Kind regards

Maureen

That's obviously crazy. It's like Ken Jennings not being allowed to say "What's a hoe?" to that Tool Time clue during his run (of course, the correct question was "What is a rake?")

I totally agree with Diana, this is soooooooooo lame! Some people need to get a life. Obviously they have way to much downtime.

They allow all kinds of tripe on TV and radio, but they won't et Santa say 'ho ho ho"?????? Oh PUUULLLLLLEEEEEEEZZZZZEEEEE people. If these whiners put their energy towards solving world hunger, poverty, drought, or war....they would make a positive contribution to the world. This kind of complaining and "rule" making is about as helpful as Lindsey Lohan and Britney Spears are as role models.

what is the matter with these people? they need to get their minds out of the gutter and stop finding ways to take the joy out of Christmas.

It is so dumb but I'm not surprised. For now good is called evil, and evil is called good.

Just so sad.

This has to be a joke right?? I dont find it offensive as I've never really put two and two together if you know what I mean?

People are hell bent in destroying the innocence of Christmas aren't they. It must've been some sick minded person who thought about that. (my opinion):-x

I don't understand why they have to always try to ruin things that are a tradition. Everyone needs to stand up what we believe in or else they will take away the whole santa idea.8-)
