Today there's a big mince pie eating competition happening in my part of the world: http://www.wookey.co.uk/bigeat/

Now I love mince pies, but I'm not sure I could eat that many in an hour!

They might sell them here but I have never tried it. I thought it was made with meat. YUCK! I guess I shouldn't knock it till I try it.

No not meat!! lol! They're very nice, but not too many at once. Children normally leave one out for Santa over here. Have a look on the web for a recipe and try it, you'll probably like them. We always eat them at Christmas time.

:???:Mincemeat is so good, but very filling. I like it but can't eat much either. My Mom always made mincemeat bars every Thanksgiving. Now that she's passed away, my sister makes them. They're SO GOOD!

They were originally made with meat! http://whychristmas.com/customs/mincepies.shtml but now the filling is based around dried fruit, although it's still called 'mincemeat'!

Here are some recipes from my site:
http://www.whychristmas.com/fun/rec_mpies.html the pies
http://www.whychristmas.com/fun/rec_mmeat.html mincemeat if you can't get a jar!

This thread has also started today! http://www.mymerrychristmas.com/forum/showthread.php?t=7023

So you can get them in the states as well, give it a go officepro4u!

I think you miss out in the states not having mince pies! Another thing you really should try is clotted cream! http://www.britishdelights.net/cream.htm

A cream tea, yummmmmmm This is what I had for my birthday this year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jpc101/517879713/ soooo good!

Here i'm the only one that will eat it, so when we get one I don't have to share with anyone. I really like them. Today I made my first sweet potatoe pie, I have some yams left over after I made my candid yams so I thought that I'd try the sweet potatoe pie.

I adore mince pies:elf:. I tried looking for some here in canada but when I asked in a supermarket they hadn't even heard of them. Luckliy I did end up finding some but it took a while. It is so weird as in England you can find them in supermarkets at the end of september. I have never really thought of mince pies being just an English Christmas food.

I still have mine, I'm saving it for when I wake up in the middle of the night. I'm the only one that like it too.
