Yesterday there was an article in the local newspaper asking what readers thought about two of the local radio stations playing christmas music, they started playing it on Novermber 1st if I remember correctly. Most of the readers said it's too early and alot of them were mad about it. I know everyone has an opinion but it's simple, if you don't want to hear christmas music, change the channel, by now, they should know the two stations that are playing it and if they don't want to hear it, they can avoid those two stations. I kind of disagree with them, there's how many stations devoted to rock, rap, country and how many play christmas music?

The other thing these readers were complaining about was that you shouldnt put christmas decor. outside untill december starts, i don't see any harm in this whatsoever, if someone chooses to decorate now or in october, let them, they have that right.

What do you guys think?

You are preaching to the Choir. Of course everyone here is going to agree we all LOVE Christmas. The same people who Decorate in October are the ones here.

There are sooo many much worse things out there are morally corrupt on TV, radio ect ect that our children see, comercials ect and I dont see them removing those...nor do I hear complaints on that. I wish people would just leave those of alone that love Christmas as much as some us do.. by all means like you said, turn off the radio!

I love Christmas and think that the music should be played more, not less!
We had a letter to the editor in our local paper the other day demanding that decorations be taken down until December 1st since November 19th was to early!

When parents or Christians complain of programming we are told, change the channel, so why can't the same apply to those who don't like Christmas music or programming. It seems it is always a one way street with the world.

Also, I think those who complain about decorating too early are just jealous, it's a great motivator in making people angry.

I think everybody in this forum would argue against those who want the Christmas celebrations toned down, but the truth is, why argue back? Just leave your decor up, watch your shows & TV specials, listen to carols, eat candy-canes and buy presents because really, if you don't care what they think, who's gonna stop you?

Follow the money, Ryan.

The radio station would play monkeys scratching their backsides if it sold advertising. So if you hear radio stations playing Christmas music in July that is because it makes them money. If it makes them money, it must mean a lot of people are listening to it.

So why then were all the letters you read in the paper negative? Because that's what the newspaper editors want you to think.

Money doesn't lie. Newspapers frequently do. Think about it.

Speaking as a radio station owner, trust me. I'm very proud of the fact that our own radio station has been #1 at Live 365 in our genre all month long. Why is it #1? Certainly not because we sell advertising on it (we don't).

We're number #1 because that's what people want to listen to right now.

That's newspaper is full of crapola.

If people don't want to hear the Christmas music, change the station. As far as the decorations go, as long as the law allows, the owners can put up their decorations any time they chose. People need to stop being such Scrooges!

I agree with most everyone. If you don't like the Christmas music channel...change it! If you don't want to decorate your house...don't decorate it! Just don't say anything to me if I choose to.

Diana

P.S. Listening to 24/7 Christmas music here at work! YAY!!

I'll certainly try not to get on my soapbox about corporate broadcast crap radio here.

On the thread topic, I agree with changing the channel if one has a problem with Christmas music in November.

The reason I shun the stations that go all Christmas is because their entire playlist will exhaust in about five hours. We are conditioned to the so called classics. To make matters worse, the politically correct world in which we live further limits what our potentially offended ears will hear. Stations sure don't want to push the real meaning of CHRISTmas on the masses! In fact, I bet your station is "Your Official Holiday Station" isn't it? The less mention of Christmas, the better!

No other holiday has inspired near the amount of music as Christmas! Why limit ourselves to the same one hundred tunes or so? Most of you that visit the entertainment/music section here already know that my life's goal is to have heard every Christmas tune ever recorded! Look for upcoming announcements of the more obscure offerings this season!

For instance, you bet your sweet bippy, Santa Claus is a hippy!

RadioJonD ~ you are absolutely right! The local radio station here uses that exact phrase "Your Official Holiday Station". You have a point.

I find myself listening to my christmas CD's, and I have a bunch, more in the off months than in December because so many stations are playing Christmas music!!! There is one station in NYC that plays Christmas Music only...I tune to that in November and don't tune away till December 26th...And I'm a huge fan of another radio station that only plays the occasional Christmas number...I miss the other station but I want Christmas music, so I tune to where I can get it...I have XM satelite radio too and would tune to an all Christmas staion there all year if they had it...I even emailed them about that thinking it might be a good idea...I never heard back...There must be money in Christmas music cause every year so many artists put out new albums...

During the season, I really don't know why one would tune to anything else! Well, at least until the Christmas editions of "Blues Before Sunrise", "American Routes", "The Bone Conduction Music Show", Jon Solomon's Twenty-Four Hour Christmas Marathon Show... air.

i just laugh at these moaners, in my opinion the world would be a better place if there were more people who had christmas spirit. to me, christmas spirit is not something that magically appears in december and then buggers off in january, it is something in you always, but for some reason society only "allows" us to be more open about it come december 1st. well i'm sorry but if i want to listen to christmas music and watch christmas films in october i will. I DON'T CARE WHAT THEY SAY!!!

In my town none of the local radio stations have been playing christmas songs, i would of been thrilled to bits if they started in november! So glad that there are lots of great christmas radios online! Moaning just because they have started to play christmas songs is just plain sad, some people just love to moan!!
