I love to collect pine cones in the fall and have used them for many different craft ideas..I have made ornaments, bird feeders, wreaths, firestarters. Does anyone else like to use pine cones for various projects?

Oh a centerpiece with pinecones would be nice..I haven't done this before. Although I have seen this idea and they always look so lovely..add some holly and a candle and there ya go.

Does she pick huckleberries too? I really miss them. My Aunt usually gives me some when she goes to Idaho to see family. I have some in my freeze but plan to save them until I make a cake or pancakes.

I love to use pinecones in bowls with cinnamon sticks to add fragance to the house.

That's a great idea too Annette, my birds will love that.

Thanks MMD...nice inexpensive craft to do really. I usually also make these with my daughter and nieces and nephew. Of course be sure to tie the top with string/yarn to hang. The birds love it!

We put pine cones on our tree so it looks like it is real, I also use them when I make centerpieces & wreathes.

That's a cool idea!

We have, like, a bazillion of them, so there's always some scattered around the house during the holidays. The only crafty thing i've done with them is what I did in, like, kindergarten where you paint them and then glue stuff to them...

That's a fact...they are all over around here too. It makes me laugh when I see pinecones in stores for sell when all I have to do is take a short walk and there they are hundreds literally.

Our mountain home is rather rustic, so we incorporate pine cones in the tree, garland and simply set pretty bowls of cones with lights around the home. Some have said they also add cinnamon sticks or other things to scent the displays. It makes the home smell so "Christmas".

I put glue on them and sprinkle glitter on them. I put them on my mantle with garland and candles and its so beautiful!

I also make PB bird feeders as well :)

On our back deck we have a 4 foot rail with 2 shelves on top. I take the bottom branches of the christmas tree, some magnolia sprigs, pinecones spray painted silver and gold, and red holly berries and i weave white lights though the whole things all along the shelf. It is beautiful at night with the lights reflecting the silver and gold.

I use pinecones a lot in decor from fall decor to Christmas decor. Scented pinecones in bowls in the bathrooms, pine cone tree using a cone shaped stryofoam base, I also have a year round 5 ft alpine tree that I decorate year round and keep small pinecones on it....one of my favorites is roll them in peanut butter and bird seed and hang them outdoors. My kids used to love making them when they were younger.

Did you know that pinecones are also useful if you dont like spiders?!!!!!!

Spiders dont like the smell of pinecones, so if you place them around your home it will stop the spiders coming in.
Its just something ive read im not entirely sure if it works:))))
