When new members sign up, I wonder what their usernames stand for. So I thought I'd go ahead and explain my name and why I chose it, and ask you all to do the same...

OfficePro4U is the name of my company. I provide administrative support to small to medium sized businesses - also called a Virtual Assistant. I provide all types of secretarial duties via the internet, fax, data transfer, etc. It's awesome!

When I first signed up we were moving from NJ to FL, so I used Mrs H (for Mrs. Harriott) from New Jersey....when we switched to the new format, I shortened it to MrsH.

And I graduated in 1984

For me, well it sums up life, or atleast how I experience it. That everything has a good and bad side. Or atleast, it has a catch. I know its not very Christmas-like... lol, but Ive been using this nick for a long time now.

Plus I got it from my favorite band AEROSMITH, with their song "Cryin'".

Holly Cl'Oz

I picked Holly Cl'Oz because I fell in love with the Legend of Holly Claus book and I'm a Wizard of Oz freak. So there ya go! :sparkle:

kerst
11-26-2007, 08:19 AM
Kerst is Dutch for Christmas. Thought that fit right in.

xmascrackers
11-26-2007, 12:31 PM
Mine is self explanatory - Im Crackers about Christmas and no I dont think much of Christmas Crackers as an item as they are always cheap and nasty here in NZ even the ones you pay $15 each for.

Maebeary
11-26-2007, 03:00 PM
My nickname is Maebeary.... MAE are my initials. I collect bears....thus the "bear." When my brother visits from San Diego, he always says how he likes coming back to Mayberry...teasingly, of course....so in his honor, I added the Y. A lot of people know me by Maebeary so I use it for everything! A lot of my Osmond friends call me "Mae." Mary Alice is my name.

Head Elf
11-26-2007, 03:36 PM
Mine is because I used to do all the planning and setting up of christmas parties for the company I worked for. I would send out letters to the employees telling them when, where and what would they like to bring to the potluck luncheon. I would provide the tree, decorations and the music. So, I would always sign my letters Head Elf until the year I left I picked the wrong font and it came out looking like the Dead Elf. I know that Santa is the original Head Elf, but I just use it all year round.

Minta
11-26-2007, 07:43 PM
Mine is my first name.

miller4plusmore
11-26-2007, 08:50 PM
I came up with mine after I had my second son. It's our last name (Miller), the 4 means that we are a family of four, and the plusmore means that we plan to have more children. When we finish having kids, I guess we'll have to change our name, huh?

My name is Jana, nicknamed Janabanana :) My youngest is Anabanana

Billy Battles
11-28-2007, 01:11 AM
When I was younger I was an Emcee(Rapper). My name was Ghostpain. My real name is Bill so I used to mess around with Alliteration and finally ended up with Billy Battles it just stuck. I just always used it on other sites so when I signed up here I just put that in not thinking. I probably should have tried to think of something more Christmassy.

kidzrme
11-28-2007, 01:46 PM
I have always loved kids, and worked with them all of my life until 6 years ago when I switched professions. I had to switch jobs for monetary reasons only. I now substitute teach on my days off from my 911 dispatching. I went to school for Early Childhood Education, taught preschool, ran a Boy's and Girl's Club, worked in the Public school system, and on and on. '89 is the year I graduated high school...:)

Ice Princess
11-29-2007, 09:23 AM
:playing:I joined a board in 2005 but my lil sis set me up. She's the one that named me. I have an ice addiction. NO lie. Ice Princess was her idea and she gave me an avatar of two 10-lb bags of ice.

Nice to meet ya'll. This is my 2nd post.:cold:

Christmasstar
11-29-2007, 03:57 PM
The Christmas star is a favorite symbol of Christmas.
When we gaze at the Christmas star we sense the afterglow of the original Christmas star that led people from faraway lands on along journey to see a baby.
The Christmas star signaled the birth of Jesus to faraway people.
The light of that star led them to the light of the world, the real Christmas Star, Jesus Christ himself.

I like stars, looking up at them and I especially like this one because of it's meaning. That is why I chose this name for myself.

ROCKIN'_Red-Green
11-29-2007, 05:39 PM
My name basically describes how much I like Christmas. So , to break it down "ROCKIN'" slang term for meaning to Show off, Red and Green. In all, my username basically stands for Showing Off Red and Green

Amy
11-29-2007, 07:32 PM
I'm Amy :!!

novelist
11-30-2007, 05:55 AM
:yahoo:Reading is one of my favorite pasttimes, so that why I picked novelist. I was going to pick something "christmasy", but since I use novelist on other message boards, I thought it would be easier to keep everything the same.

clarebear
11-30-2007, 11:19 PM
Mine name is clare and when i was younger my nickname was clarebear, carebears lol. Silly really.

EvilMelXmasBelle
12-04-2007, 02:24 PM
I am always known as EvilMel on other forums where I post, but I though that EvilMel was somewhat inappropriate for the MMC board. I added the XmasBelle part because I'm from the south and I love love love Christmas.

I dislike the EvilMel nickname nowadays but I've had it so long that I just keep using it. People always say to me "wow...you aren't evil at all!" so it doesn't exactly fit anymore.

little miss icequeen
12-04-2007, 05:43 PM
I was trying to be cute when I signed up here.
I was thinking of "little miss sunshine" but since my real name means "sunshine" and I don´t like sunshine (love my name though) I wanted to use something else. And the idea was "icequeen" = Iceland. And I like ice so much better then sunshine.
Silly and I would like to change it.

RadioJonD
12-04-2007, 07:08 PM
...from my 911 dispatching.
Thirty years and counting of telling deputy sheriffs, forest rangers, state troopers, marine police officers, and now, federal officers where to go!

Okay, on the topic at hand. Radio- for my interest/vocation thereof. Jon - short for my given name, Jonathan. D - my middle initial. You'll find this screen name in a number of radio, music, and Christmas forums.

Holiday
01-09-2008, 10:22 PM
I graduated in 1991. We must be close to the same age. Cool!!

Diana

My name came from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker (duh). Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy is my favorite song in the ballet.

BTW, I graduated high school in 1989.:merry:

I am way late on this, but I graduated in '89 too!

My name has no real reasoning behind it. I joined Christmas.com in 2002 after I just stumbled accross the website & if I'm not mistaken, that was the 1st "group" I had ever joined. I had a complete mind block & couldn't think of a name, but I wanted something Christmassy...Holiday popped in my head & that's the rest of the story!

scoobie
01-10-2008, 01:35 AM
Well, scoobie is the name I have been using on message boards, chat rooms etc etc since about '97 I think, and on CB radio as my 'handle' before that.. and its just stuck! Like alot of others before me, I think I should have used something a bit more Christmassy, but entered it without thinking really!!

The reson why I chose it in the first place? Erm, I guess it was just a random choice! I've never even liked scooby-doo, so I guess that cant be it... maybe it was because scoobie was something my friends and I used to say.. 'I haven't got a scoobie' meaning I havent a clue (it all rhymes you see... scoobie...scooby-doo... clue....)

So there you have it :-)

Crown 84
01-25-2008, 06:29 AM
Mine dates all the way back to the long gone Christmas.Com board.
My trusty steed for the past 22 + years has been my beloved 1985 Ford Crown Victoria, two-tone blue (looks a bit like an old police car!).
I originally registered at C.Com as "Crown 85" but at one point, there was a shut down for several months. When the forum came back up, it would not accept "Crown 85" any more so I just backed off a digit and re-registered as "Crown 84".

Wanting to have at least some Christmas tie-in, I pasted a Christmas wreath onto a crown image I found somewhere on the internet to set as my avatar.

Iron Eagle
01-31-2008, 10:35 PM
First and formost, I'm not a Louis Gosset fan (I get that a lot). I was actually dubbed Iron Eagle long before the movies. I was named by an American Indian family I used to know. They were South Dakota Blackfoot. The whole story is quite long and not appropriate for this forum. So to make it short, the indian language uses a lot of symbolism. The word "iron" as in "iron horse" means stregth. It can also mean "truth", as in "The words you speak have iron." The Eagle, of course stands for truth, honor, and justice. I've forgotten how to pronounce it over the years, but the word meant "Strong Justice," or "Strong Truth." Either way, one or two of the lads from work overheard the conversation, sooooo I've been the Iron Eagle ever since.

Since everyone seems to be putting their Graduation year in . . . . . . . . 1970.
I feel so old right about now.

act_as_if
02-01-2008, 05:46 PM
My name really doesn't have a significant meaning.

It's acually a Sara Evens song, Act as if. It's basically saying that she doesnt care about all the little things her boyfriend does that bother her, or little tidbits about her life that are not perfect. She's just taking things as is. Or, as if.

And I just like the song.

When I was younger .. 20 years ago I went to England as an aupair.. and it was round christmastime when the little boy of the family came towards me and a kneeled down to give him a hug he came up to me and said: *hollybow*...
and 20 years later :dance:I thought this is the name for me on christmas forums

Dom
02-18-2008, 06:45 AM
I chose Dom because in life I'm really a very laid back, quiet, low maintenance, simple person...so I wanted to choose a name that'd be the opposite...like a Dominant, loud, agressive name :-).

Sunshine73
02-18-2008, 08:52 AM
When I was little, my great grandmother nicknamed me "Sunshine" because I was always a happy, giggling child and she always said that when I walked into a room it was like I brought the sunshine with me.

My great-grandmother was the only one who ever used that nickname for me, it was like our special bond or something and when she passed away, the nickname didn't get used for quite some time.

Until I met and started dating my DH. We worked at the same company and a day or two after our first date I walked into the back room to find DH standing there at the workbench, eating his lunch. When I walked in, he looked up and said "Hey Sunshine!"

My heart just stopped. I asked him why he called me "Sunshine" and he said it was because I was so happy and sunny it was like I brought the sunshine in the room with me. I knew then that there was something special about him!

So, now he's the one who calls me Sunshine and I use it for my username quite often. The 73 is the year I was born (added because, most often, I find that just plain "Sunshine" is a username that is already taken on most forums).

When I was younger my family would kid and call me irishgirl because from what I understand from my family (if you can get past the brogue) is I looked like I just came off the boat from the Isle. Brightly shone the moon that night, tho' the frost was cruel,
When a poor man came in sight, gath'ring winter fuel.
