Home-made wreaths are way better than the fake ones. Are you following any certain instructions to make this wreath?

Have you heard on Safeway's Inspired Holiday site? They have a lot of festive projects you can use to help decorate for Christmas. They have this Candy Cane Vase that would make for a beautiful center piece.

I'm being very creative this year :)&
Have made a wreath with lights (base of moss) to put on my wall and another one for my sister as a present.
Made a wreath for my front door with a grapevine base and only part of it decorated with greens.
Now in the process of making a garland for my banister which is a LOT of work but also a lot of fun.
I will also make something with mistletoe. I put together a branch of spur with mistletoe, tie a string of just ten lights through it and a few small golden balls on string. Then a pretty bow on top. Makes a beautiful arrangement and something unique to do with the mistletoe.
I love the candycane vase !!

Kerst, how long is your banister? Are you drenching the garland with lights, berries, or ornaments?
I know, the vase is breath-taking. Here is the link to Safeway's holiday site that describes how to put it together.

There's actually a lot of creative projects on there other than the vase. Looks like simple materials too that we may already have lying around the house.

I want to put a wreath together that has pictures on it too so it gives it more of a personal feeling. I haven't been able to see any examples though. The closest thing I've found is this keepsake, and I can see how that would work in a sort of different way. Has anyone done what I'm describing? Here's the keepsake thingy... (like I said, it's close but I'm still looking.)http://www.howvids.com/Hobbies/How_to_make_a_Christmas_Keepsake.ad2
This past Christmas we made decorations that you place on the back of your dinning room chairs. We bought some small wreaths, decorated those with various decorations, and then used wired ribbon to tie onto the chair opening. You can tie the ribbon in a bow. The more ribbon you use the fuller it will look.:rudolph:We used white wreaths, with silver decorations, and the ribbon was white and silver.

I do enjoy it. I make our wreaths and our garland from the woods behind us. For me, it's so much more beautiful when we get it the way we like it. I love the smell throughout the house of Christmas pine!

I think the crafty gene passed me! My Aunt can make beautiful stuff, as can my mother and all of her sisters but me? Nah! I can cross-stitch and follow a pattern but when it comes to wreaths and what-not, I have no imagination. That doesn't mean I don't try! Just not very often and definitely not for anything Christmas related...don't want to taint the holiday with my craft project "wanna-be's"! lol

Wow! you guys are an inspiration! I should try to make a wreath this year. My kids and I make ornaments and stuff but nothing major. I love the "idea" of making tons of things but the reality is, I dont have the time (or patience lol)

This year I am making new Christmas stocking for everyone, i've bought some cream velour to make them from with fleece lining and i'll decorate with sequins ribbons etc, i'm hoping they'll look quite vintage when they're finished.
I'm so looking forward to seeing them hanging from the fireplace :))

and this yr I will be making lighted potpourrie things
mine from last yr (the middle object)
the heat from the lights makes the pot pourrie smell

I have made lighted wooden snowmen, lighted wooden Xmas trees also for them.
One yr I made an extra lighted presents item and gave that away to who ever had a certain item in thier stocking.

I love making my own decor, it's great because no one else has it and it's all one of a kind, this year i'm making a snowman he's nearly done, a painted box with snowmen on it i got the idea from the bhg website for my christmas cd's, a wreath with plaid ribbon around it made from that wicker stuff and a set of little hanging angels made from those old fashioned pegs plus a tree topper rag-doll like angel.
it'll keep me busy, if i've got time i'll be making stockings for my sister, mum and dad and a tree skirt.

I love making and creating table centerpieces for the holidays. Actually I love to do it year round. I also have a shelf that runs along the wall above my sofa in my livingroom. I usually place an entire themed scene up there and change it up for the seaons. Same with my year round holiday tree. Can you tell I love to decorate?

I try to do some crafty stuff, but i think i'm best at making gift tags. I have a bunch of christmas stamps and my favorite is to make these gold snowflake gift tags. it's so much fun!

I love to make my own Christmas cards... But I like them too much to give them away so I end up keeping them and sending out store-bought cards!!
