We always have a movie night at my house for the holidays and watch the newest or our favorite Christmas films. This year my daughter is dating a Jewish man and my son is dating an Indian woman. Though they are perfectly happy to celebrate Christmas with us - I don't want to hit them over the head with my faith by making the movies all Christmas themed. Any suggestions for films that are heartwarming and Christmas appropriate without being about Christmas itself?

Hello badsanta,:celebrate:
One movie which I totally adore is called "Keeping the Faith". It stars Ben Stiller, Edward Norton and Jenna Elfman. It's about two childhood friends - one who is a Catholic priest and the other is a young Rabbi. Since they both admire and respect each other's faiths, forming their own duo of "Godsquad". Then another friend, a young woman called Anna who these men met at middle school wants to catch up with them and find out what they are doing with their lives. And their friendship between them resumes. And a relationship start to form between Anna and Rabbi Jacob Schram. (Ben Stiller's character)
As much as I like to tell you the rest of the story, it's a comedy about modern day religion. If you want to, I hope you and your family watch it. The attached link below has more details about this movie:

I believe it's a film the whole family can enjoy. :!!Libby-belle

:playing:Last night I watched the movie The Homecoming, about the Walton family. We bought the dvd last year. I love how wholesome life was back then. It also brought back so many memoried for my husband and I. We remember watching the show all the time.

Love Actually. Romantic comedy set during the holiday season. Not over the top Christmassy though.

I haven't but I thought that might be a good idea. I considered showing a movie with an x-mas theme, a movie with a Hannukah theme, and a movie with... uh... I'm afraid I'm ignorant of what Indians celebrate this time of year but I saw a movie recently called Outsourced (http://outsourcedthemovie.com/) that was set in India. It was a fun family film set while still being very touching and spreading a message of tolerance and understanding, had that old-timey movie feel while still being modern.
