Hello all

Yesterday i got a real tree the first one in alonggggg time well since i was a kid that long.
What i wanted to know is how long do you let it breath for before you put your Dec's on it?
My son went and picked it out and it is alot bigger then i thought it was going to be had to cut some off the top cause it could not fit. And because it was laying down for a while in the car to get here it looks a bit flat on one side and tips on all this?
I said to my son its times like this that you need Edward sisorhand! ( i know that spelled wrong i 'm a bad speller forgive me)
The smell is so nice nothing like it.
take care all

I'm not too sure about "breathing" the tree but I do know that you want to cut about two inches off the base of the tree and immediately put it in water. Also, I'm told to use only lukewarm water, never hot or cold.

Hope that helps!

Do you try to maintain the lukewarm temperature or just pour it in thataway and let it cool on it's own? It this just for the first watering or all subsequent waterings? Questions? I got questions!

warm water from the tap is best, When you decide to bring the tree indoors, make another fresh one inch cut and place the tree in a sturdy stand that holds at least one gallon of water, or a rule of thumb is one quart of water for every inch of diameter of the trunk. Be sure to keep the water level about the base of the tree. If the base dries out resin will form over the cut end and the tree will not be able to absorb water and will dry out quickly. Commercially prepared mixes; aspirin; sugar and other additives added to the water are not necessary. Research has shown that plain water will keep a tree fresh
