Hi everyone...

I LOVE the season, the lights and programs
Baking and making crafts
Movies and Music

BUT

I LOATHE shopping...

I am also a lil nervous getting my grandson any toys with the recalls that happened earlier in fall.

My grandson in 14 mos. and I have no idea what to get him. Nor do I know what to get my son-in-law!

Any ideas????

Thanks!:}

morelia: I feel your pain. Buying gifts for others takes lots of thought and time indeed. My suggestion is to go with gift cards..Adults and kids love them because they can get what they want and it extends Christmas for them because now they can go shopping for themselves to buy what they really want. It's an easy way to go and though I buy some gifts, I usually go with the gift cards for the grand-kids. Makes life easy and everyone is happy.http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a289/Lizilu2/animatedcandle.gif

You could get your grandson some books; they are never to young to start reading.

Your son-in-law you could offer some babysitting so he can take his wife out some time. If you live too far away of course that would be hard.

Think of his hobbies or other interests and get him a subscription to a related magazine.

You could shop on the internet; saves you the trip to the stores.

Good luck !

I recommend shopping via the internet, you can take your time relax, all with just a click of a button, either that or get somebody to go for you or with you.

I also recommend shopping online. I would check ToysRus. I know here in the States you can pick a age catergory and choose from selected toys for the appropriate age groups. Here are a few websites to check on Toy recalls. You can always check the webpage for the specific company who makes a certain toy as well.

www.recalls.gov (http://www.recalls.gov)

Hope this helps?! =)
I would also like to add that www.amazon.co.uk (http://www.amazon.co.uk) would be a great website for books for your son-in-love..*smile* They have plenty to choose from at very resonable rates.

Thanks so much everyone for all of the ideas~

My son-in-"love" likes to read so books should equally work for him!

Holiday blessings everyone!

I do all of my Christmas shopping on line. I also really liked the idea of giving the gift of time, offering to babysit or whatever. People really do love the gift of time, I have given it myself, many times.

I like the ideas you have. If you have a Borders or Barnes and NOble around you for those that like to read. Both have sections of music, books and so on. The case of pepsi is a great idea. Can I ask where in PA are you? My ex husband is from there and I lived there for 2 years.

At just a little over 1 year old any good toys your grandson will love I presume... you can shop online with some trusted retailers including Argos, amazon and ebay which are good ways to get a good bargain, especially during the Christmas period. I generally shop in-stores but this year I'll be shopping online as even not during the Christmas period you can get products a few quid cheaper than in-store... and especially more during the Christmas period :).

Good luck and early an Merry Christmas!

I have also had good luck with ebay. If you know what you are looking for. You are able to go to hsn.com and check their clearance section - always a deal. Start now - don't wait until the fall. It will help to get a jump on it.

online is definitely a good way to go if you know what the recipient wants for sure!!!!

Gift cards seem to go over VERY well for older kids and adults. When it comes to most kids I will buy them a book and a toy. My Aunt buys my boys a MCD's gift card and gives them a five dollar bill. She has always done this for the little kids because little kids just LOVE money!!!

just look up age specific sites - you have plenty of time to order now, online
