2 weeks ago I went to a local tree farm here in RI and cut down a Balsam Fir Christmas tree. This tree has been in my house for 2 weeks now and for some reason it has absolutely no scent coming from it. What can I do?

I heard this once but didn't know if it was true. It has something to do with the pitch on the tree. The right temp, and also the right amount of water and cutting off so much from the bottom. Maybe check out this CNN link...

Otherwise I would suggest a candle, spray and there is even a balsam fir essential oil. Also try this National Christmas Tree Association website...

Thanks for the links, but I have done everything I was supposed to do, the tree is very healthy. It just has no smell.

Now I`m wondering if the tree I have has no smell because it was never "shocked". I cut the tree at 11am and it was in a stand with another fresh cut by 2 pm. Now a tree bought off a lot has usually been cut and shipped and sat around and is at least a couple of weeks before we buy it and put it in a stand. I`m going to try removing the water from the stand for a day or two, then give it a fresh cut and put the water back in and see what happens.
