Of all the versions of all the Christmas songs you have heard in your entire lifetime, what one single version of what particular Christmas song is your all-time favorite?
Stated differently, if you could only listen to one, lone Christmas song for the entire season, what one would it be?

My choice would be Perry Como's "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas", the one with the jingling sleigh bells in the background. That one just says Christmas to me.

Bumping this.
Surely someone besides me has an all-time favorite Christmas song(?)

This is really a tough one...I guess if I have to pick one song, it'd be "The Christmas Song", you know...chestnuts roasting on an open fire...I have no idea which of the many versions of this fine song would be my all time favorite...But I do love this song...Being a traditionalist, I'd say that Nat King Cole's is my favorite but there are so many that I enjoy almost as much, it's tough to say that only one is my favorite...

Everytime this question comes up I'm always at a loss to choose only one!

For the last three or four (five?) years, since my discovery, I've had a particular fondness for "Little Cajun Drummer Boy" by Evan Johns & His H-Bombs. Everything in this instrumental mix just reaches out a grabs me, from the first guitar lick to the triangle! I have to make myself not end every Christmas CD/show that I do with it!

Another close second is an original tune by The Twang called "Eggnog". Save for the word eggnog, this one's an instrumental as well.

The traditional stuff I leave to the bland, stale & always unimaginative "holiday radio stations." Nothing wrong with the classics, mind you, but why would one only scratch the surface when there is so much great Christmas music down below?

For me probably 'Manger Throne' by Third Day (which are my fav band!) great words and a very catchy tune.

There is no way I could ever decide that. I do have favorite Christmas versions of songs, but not favorite songs.

I love them all....but my all time favorite was a song that played only on our local hometown radio station. It was called Elfie the Littlest Elf. I miss hearing that song and have tried tracking it down with no luck. My parents use to call me Elfie. I am so short I could be a elf! LOL! I sang along with the radio everytime it came on...with a very load and proud voice. hehe

[Christmas Eve in Sarajevo 12/24 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_Eve/Sarajevo_12/24)] is my favorite song ever, learn it well. Carol of the Bells is my favorite Christmas carol, and I tend to celebrate Christmas year-round so it is very important to me. (Obviously, or [my] blog, a very important part of who I am, wouldn't be named after it.) Plus I think the Trans-Siberian Orchestra (http://www.trans-siberian.com/index-main.php)'s rendition is definitely the very-best. They allow you to download it here for free (http://www.trans-siberian.com/multimedia/index.shtml), and I highly encourage you to do so. Consider it a gift for me, or a gift from me, whichever you choose. Just listen to the single-most important track of music to ever shape my life.

I love most Christmas songs, but I think one of my favorites is Grown Up Christmas List by Amy Grant. That song has brought me to tears many times...

Wow...talk about a difficult question!!

It's almost impossible for me to narrow it down to just one but if I have to...I think I'd say

"Mary Did You Know?" but I have no idea whose version I like best.

Nat King Cole´s "The Christmas Song".....that song is just so beautifull....I can´t even describe how I feel hearing hearing it....it makes me feel so warm and happy....just by listening to it....The person who wrote deserves a Grammy and Pulitzer...lol

While it's not my one favorite Christmas song of all time, I still think that Judy Garland's version of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" tops all other recorded versions. Too many artists try to take the aching sadness out of the song and I think that ruins it. Maybe that's because so few singers today can sing and emote the way Judy did.

That's the song, and the version of it, that I listen to when I spend a Christmas missing someone terribly. Sometimes at Christmas you just have to cry.

I don't think I could pick one. Maybe I could narrow it down to 10. "Mary Did You Know" is a very pretty and rather haunting tune however it always makes me think that the person who wrote the lyrics missed a lot of Sunday school. As I recall, (Luke1:30-33) the angel told Mary.
