I am afraid I am a bit confused concerning your website. I was drawn to it particularly because of the sentence you highlighted in your “the War on the War on Christmas” which reads:

"We believe both sides of the debate are wrong."

However ALL of the stories linked to the right as well as the link below “Merry Christmas: Who is afraid to say it?” (Illustrated by Santa holding a list labeled “naughty”) seem to underscore that only ONE side of the debate is wrong. Where are the stories that support your statement that BOTH sides are wrong?

I agree with your published statement that BOTH sides are wrong: secularists are trying to denude the holiday of all meaning (as well-documented by your accompanying links), but at the same time I believe some Christian factions are playing the victim card and are bullying retailers into ignoring the other December observations (observations for which these retailers also sell paraphernalia) and demanding that only Christmas be acknowledged.

You're talking about DefendChristmas.com (http://www.defendchristmas.com) -- there are plenty of archived stories showing "the other side". For example: This one (http://defendchristmas.com/2007/12/18/happy-holidays-beats-out-merry-christmas/), and this one (http://defendchristmas.com/2007/12/10/british-religious-leaders-urge-rationality-about-christmas/), and this one (http://defendchristmas.com/2007/11/06/nativity-scene-loses-the-vote-in-michigan/), and this one (http://defendchristmas.com/2007/10/27/it-is-ok-to-wish-merry-christmas/), and this one (http://defendchristmas.com/2007/10/17/clay-aiken-caught-up-in-christmas-concert-controversy/), and this one (http://defendchristmas.com/2007/10/16/mrs-fields-attacked-for-avoiding-christmas/)...and many others...

Quite honestly though, there are more examples and stories in the media from one side than there is the other.

If you're looking for wholesale attacks on Bill O'Reilly keep looking -- he only jumps and declares "victory" for his side when something in the news suits him. But he rarely makes news himself and his "side" rarely goes on the offensive to shove Christmas down people throats the way the anti-Christmas crowd gets militantly obsessed with opposing it. Hence they make the news less.

We've been tracking the "War on Christmas" for years and soundly prove, we think, that it simply doesn't exist. But where Christmas controversy exists we publish it and archive it.

Don't confuse the news archive we maintain for supporting one side over the other. We support neither and will continue to grow the section of the site called "Christmas Reality (http://defendchristmas.com/christmas-reality/)" which gives reasoned approaches to the debates of modern Christmas.
