In a sweeping announcement today Santa moved elves from around the world to work in different places. Most kids don't know this but Santa has elves working in different places all over the world. And with today's move there will be more elves than ever working at the North Pole.
"I'm so excited!" said Elf Stephanie, an elf from the United States who has never worked at the North Pole before. "I get to see Santa's workshop! I get to go to the North Pole! I get to ride in a sleigh pulled by reindeer!" Most elves wait a whole lifetime for such a chance.
"We need more elves here because there is so much work to do," said Elf Bernard, Santa's Workshop chief. "We have so many elves out sick that we were falling behind. It was getting to be an emergency. So Santa did what he had to in order for the workshop to complete its mission."
Not all elves are coming to the North Pole. "I'm going to Italy," Elf Larry Lincoln from Lincoln, Nebraska told me. "I don't know what I'm going to do in Italy but if that is where Santa needs me, I will go there."
The reindeer are not back yet to the North Pole. Maybe this is why Santa sent them away in the first place, to move all these elves around. But things are happening here now. We are all working very hard.
