As you know, Santa has come and gone and Rudolph is now out of commission for another year. All of the parties are going to be over right after the New Year and the holidays decorations are eventually going to come down.
Territorial radio stations have switched back to their original formats and are no longer playing holiday music on December 26th. People are starting to throw out their Christmas trees onto the curbs of their street.
So far, the holiday television programming has pretty much ended and most of the holiday commercials are starting to fade away, except for some that will still linger until the start of the New Year.
Christmas movies will disappear from the theaters perhaps next month since there is nobody that is interested in watching holiday films right after Christmas or the holiday season. Christmas and the holiday items or merchandises will soon disappear from the stores’ shelves and onto the discount racks.
Now that the Christmas or holiday spirit has come and gone, how is everybody doing now that next week is January 2008?

I am doing great! And I still have the Holiday spirit in me..I love all Holidays to be exact. And Christmas being my favorite. Luckily I recorded various programs such as It's a wonderful life, Charlie Brown Christmas and a few others to keep the spirit alive. I don't mind watching these anytime of the year. And I also purchased some Christmas books last night online. And just started and finished the Christmas Box book today...another I plan to buy and read throughout the year. Yes my tree will eventually come down with decorations as well...but I still have this wonderful place to come to and chat with others about Christmas and all other Holidays. So in all reality it has come and gone but I plan to keep it alive as I do any other year. Just think we only have another 363 days to go. And I am already on the countdown. Best wishes to you and everyone on this site for a wonderful New Year.

I am still having the Christmas spirit. We still have a radio station that plays Christmas music until New years day. We are celebrating Christmas this Sunday for my family.

I'm doing great! This has been a very nice Christmas! I'm very relaxed and feeling pretty good even though I do have some "stuff" in my head. It just hangs on and on but it isn't keeping me down which is good. I went on a shopping spree yesterday morning. I went on one last night online! (I'll have chair covers for my chairs next year--I found some cute polar bear ones. I ordered 8 so I can cover all 6 chairs. They only came in a package of 4. I had to get two.) I also found a scent online at Bath & Body Works that was discontinued in the stores but is availabe online. I love the scent so was excited when I saw those available.
I'm still listening to my own Christmas music. I even bought two "new" cds yesterday. I loaded them today and am listening to them. What fun!
I even remembered to hang my nativity flag this year. Santa never made it out but I remembered the nativity. I put it out on Christmas Day!
What a wonderful season!!!

So far I am doing great! I am still feeling very Christmassy...trying not to think about taking down my lights & decorations & just enjoying them while they are up! I recorded a couple Christmas movies off tv today & I have been listening to my Christmas cd's (something I didn't get much of a chance to do during the build up to the season b/c there were so many good specials on tv) This year we had such a nice Christmas, spending a lot of time with family & friends! I have been trying to think of little things I can do all year long just to keep the Christmas spirit alive & well! Once it comes time to take down my decorations I am going to get out my snowmen & keep them out until spring. I am also thinking about putting up some white lights on my mantle. I am hoping to start woking on my Christmas scrapbook. I have it started, but am still on Christmas 2004...so I have some catching up to do! That will help with the Christmas spirit! We had a Christmas get together with my high school friends tonight, tomorrow night we have the neighborhood Christmas house hopping, Sunday we are having a Christmas party at our house with my Dads sisters family & of course Monday night is NYE...so there is still a lot to look forward too! Jan. 7th, my Buckeyes play in the BCS Bowl....I am affraid the after Christmas blues will really set in on Jan. 8th....IF I let them!!! But then again...we sponsor a bowling bash every year in February & there is a lot of preperation involved, so I will have to start on that soon too!! Always something! :)

I don't want to be a downer, but you did ask. I had a wonderful Christmas with my family, but the post Christmas blues had already hit me Christmas night. It's the same thing every year. I just get too busy. I spent most of the season working on my company's Christmas Parade float and my house display. We won 1st in the parade and 2nd in the home display. Christmas night, I passed by the trophies and I was left with this feeling; "Big deal, so what?" I've got these pieces of metal and plastic on my shelf, but I can't buy back one second of time that I missed with my children while I was out working on lights. Christmas morning I noticed my son's voice was changing to that deeper, pre-teenage voice. I hadn't noticed that yet and it made me think, "I'm not ever letting this happen again." I'm determined to spend more time with my kids. We have had a policy of turning the TV off at 9:00 PM and just talking or reading this year. We got off of that policy way too many times because of the business of the season. I think I've finally learned my lesson. You only have your kids for a short while. I'm not wasting one more precious second on things that aren't really important. My house has been the one in town that people come for miles to see. I think I've finally had enough. I don't know if I'll really do this or not, but right now I'm retiring from the huge Christmas displays. Thank all of you for this place where I can come and just pour out my heart to how I'm feeling right now. PS - I am trying to make up for loss of time with my kids and will make it my most earnest endeavor this next year to cherish every second I have with them.

I am doing pretty good so far. I have had a few moments of sadness but nothing too bad. When the kids go back to school and hubby goes back to work, that is when it will be worse for me. Right now there are some football games on TV that I like to watch. I have bought me up some CD's of Christmas music and I have my Christmas movies to try to help me through the blues this year. I already have told everyone I am still playing my Christmas music and watching my movies, so they can watch TV in another room when time comes. LOL

I was just thinking to myself that a week ago today we were all looking forward to christmas and now its gone im feeling the blues a little.
I did some window shopping today to cheer me up, but now my daughter is down ill with the cold or bug. What a great start to the new year eh?
Im keeping my decorations up for as long as I can. Many neighbours have taken them down already, that just makes me sad. Only days after christmas and people are not bothered anymore. Its no wonder christmas seems to be coming and going so quick these days its because its not much of a holiday anymore - for example, shops are open the day after xmas day, why? because people are more interested in the sales thats what!! Something has to be done about that I reckon. There's just no Christmas spirit no more. (excluding us!!)

storeytime, you seem like a wonderful father with the right attitude.
i was a little down this morning, i know i will feel this way for a few weeks now and come mid january i will perk up.
i just wish that christmas lasted a bit longer, music channels/ radio stations should keep christmas music on until 1st jan, there should be christmas specials and films on until 1st jan and people should all be off work until 1st jan, i would have no problem with shops etc being shut from christmas eve until jan 1st. it should last from 1st to 31st demember in my opinion.

This is always a tough time for me. I was at a Christmas party this evening which was nice. I do dread taking down the decorations. I have plenty of Christmas movies and music to play throughout the year to keep the spirit going but it's tough when you live in a state that's warm all year long. Here Christmas is over the day after. Not many people leave their decorations up until the New Year. Radio stations completely stop playing Christmas music at midnight. Thats just to drastic for me. It's like someone cut my legs out from under me. So the countdown begins again.

When the radio quits playing Christmas songs and the TV stations quit broadcasting Christmas shows, I always turn to my own collections and that helps. But, nothing has helped me fight the blues more than this group of friends here at My Merry Christmas and Christmas Internet radio. When I listen to my own music and shows, it helps but I still somehow feel alone and out of sync. Here, you know someone else is listening and feeling some of the same feelings you are. Thanks again to Jeff and all the helpers for keeping this place going.

I really shouldn't complain. Even though the celebration goes a little longer up north; at least to New Years, I never really liked cold weather. That's why I moved here. Since I've moved here, I don't get sore throats colds or fevers. I might get a little weezy during alergy season but all in all I've been pretty healthy in that respect. So I guess if I never see a white Christmas except on the tv I guess I can live with that. I just wish it wouldn't end so abruptly.

I'm definitely feeling the post-Christmas blues. :( We took our decorations down yesterday and now our little apartment looks so bare. I can't believe the Christmas season is over so soon...I feel like I missed most of it because I was so so sick for so many weeks. Hopefully next Christmas season will be better!

Well, my Christmas blues have officially set in today!! It was back to work day for me today! UGH!! I had 11 days off (and it was completely wonderful!!) & I think it is harder to come back after 11 days of hanging out at home, coming, going, people stopping over, eating, drinking, being merry, late nights, pretty much doing whatever we want, no schedule, etc. than it is to come back after going away on vacation!! But I am hoping to have the days between the holidays off again next year. I totally enjoyed it!! I went to Ben Franklin over the weekend & bought a bunch of snowmen 50% off to put up when I take down my decorations, & I bought some lighted garland (white/clear lights) for $2.50 to put up on the mantle or around our banister. Though I am not looking forward to taking my Chrsitmas stuff down, I am looking forward to getting my snowmen & clear lights out! I also bought 6 Christmas dvd's at the grocery store - they were $1.99 each & most of them have 2 Christmas movies on them! They are all movies I have never seen (or heard of) before, but they sound really good. I think most of them are older movies. I am grabbing at anything that will help keep my Christmas spirit alive!! Thanks to this wonderful webiste I don't think it will be all that hard to do!! :)

I can totally relate. I took my decorations down New Years day and my apartment looks cold and empty. To top it off now we're going to get cold weather. It will be in the 20's tomorrow morning. We're in a state of emergency due to the citrus crops.

This is not the best of times for me given the grand take-down, but right now I'm doing fine. I'm online with Christmas friends and I'm snacking on some homemade fruitcake.

Still have all my decorations up and not planning on taking them down yet. I enjoy my trees and the lights give my home a nice feeling. In fact, I said to my hubby I hate to take down the Christmas tree in the bedroom, I like the lights, he said why take it down?, so it just might stay up and become a Valentine Tree, Easter Tree, Birthday Tree, Celebration Tree or whatever.
What a blessing to spend another Christmas with my hubby, our children and our grandchildren. Wow it was grand!

We are still fully decorated and light up both inside and out every night. There has been a lot of snow and cold this Christmas Season so with the trees and the Nativity set and lights and the fireplace everything is as it should be. We're having a few friends over for dinner tomorrow to celebrate the 12th Day of Christmas (the day the Magi arrive) so the Season continues. Things will have to start coming down next week however and that is always a downer but a few decorations will remain until Candlemas (Feb. 2) and our electric candles in the windows will burn until daylight savings time.
