:snowball:I'm planning on starting to take down decorations today. I won't do much today, just christmas cards, and I'll put away my holiday mugs and tea kettle, and take my regular items out again. I figure, if I do a little at a time, it won't be so overwhelming.

Ours will remain in place until 12th night which is January 5th. To be honest, once New Year is out of the way, everything seems a little superfluous to requirements!!

I will start this weekend by putting away the indoor animations; the moving, sound-making plushies that my Lab would love to get ahold of.
The live tree will come down on New Year's Day. That's a long-standing family tradition since both of my parents were school teachers and wanted the tree out of the way each year before they had to go back to work.
The weekend after New Year's Day I will start bringing in the outdoor display. While there are folks with larger displays who can take theirs down completely in one day, I don't have any kids or volunteers to do the legwork. So, I will take 2-3 days to bring mine in. Not rushing the job will give me the chance to test and maintain the various pieces as well as craft a more organized storage system. There will still be a mild rush, since I want all the lights down before the weather gets serious.

Ours are coming down this weekend. *Sigh* It's sad to say goodbye to the decorations but it's time for them to come down.

If the weather permits, we will take down the outside decorations and then work on the inside decorations. We usually have everything packed away by News Years Day.

Our outside decorations are coming down tomorrow. My husband fractured his ankle on December 6th and is unable to do the ladder climbing. My son, my daughter and myself, with his supervision will do it tomorrow. My son heads back to Toledo for a New Year's Eve party with his friends so it has to be done by then. I don't like them coming down so early but the need is there this year. When growing up, we took them down after the 6th....our tradition is usually New Year's Day. At least I'll have this wonderful forum to come to for a little Christmas time celebrating!

I took one tree down yesterday, but I also purchased the ornaments for next year. I also found a spiral tree to put the train ornaments on for next year also. But the rest will stay up until 12th night and then it will come down so I can start planning for next year.

We will start taking down the decorations when it stops raining. We were going to do it today, but it has rained all day. Hubby doesn't want to bring in all the boxes and stuff in storage with it raining.

:cry:I did more today than I planned on. That happensd with me when I start a project. I had only plan ed on taking down the village, and nativity, well, two hours later, I have all decorations down except for the tree. My husband wants it up until New yesrs, so i guess thats the plan. Now thats it's over, I'm glad I got done as much a I did.

Mine will come down the week-end after the New Year. I'll have to do it little by little since Bob can't help me this year bring things downstairs. I really hate to take them down.
Now I'll decorate for Valentines Day, I always try to have every hoilday done here.
How do you decorate for Valentine's Debbie?

Well, we took the outside decorations and lights down today. It looks so bare! I'm always sad when they come down. Rick better not rush me to get the inside decorations put away. My plan is next weekend but he'll start saying something on New Year's Day. I just know that he will!

:rudolph:I had a very busy day today. My husband finally took the lights and tree top off the tree today, and got the tree out of the livingroom. We also took all the decorations, that we keep in totes, up in the loft of the garage. For the first time ever, we rearranged the livingroom furniture. Since we have a fireplace along one wall, we really don't have many options on how to arrange furniture, but we did switch the couch, and two chairs around. It looks so much different, and we're getting used to it.

I am working on taking mine down right now! :( So sad....
Taking them down is totally the opposite of putting them up...stating the obvious I know but you know what I mean. It really is depressing compared to the fun and excitement of when you were an 8 year old putting them up brings out in u.

Hi
We still have fresh green on the front porch in urns (they went up Thanksgiving weekend). And I never take my candles out of the windows.
I use a lot of anitique decorating items and purchase them all year long at tag sales and e-bay! Anyone else buy :hello:decorations throughout the year?

I took mine down some time in January. Wish it was time to put them back up.
But guess what? My snowflakes are still on the front window and I have no intention of removing them. :)
