On this day every year a giant countdown clock is hung in Santa's workshop. The elves really look forward to it because it shows exactly how many minutes and seconds there are until Santa launches. This clock, similar to the one you see on the Internet, marks how much time elves have to get their work done.

This year, with so many new elves in the workshop, the lowering of the clock was a very exciting event. And like always, Elf Bernard reports that productivity in the workshop shot up in the shifts that followed the launch.

"I know the Bah Humbug bug has caused us some problems," admitted Elf Bernard. "But kids do not need to worry about that. Santa helped us. He got more elves here to help out. And it is working. We are all caught up now."

Elf Hugo over in Santa's mailroom will be especially glad to hear that. Ever since the news was announced that the Bah Humbug virus had hit the North Pole the email coming in from kids has been very concerned. Many want to help and many are worried that Santa won't make it this year.

But don't worry kids. Santa knows what he is doing!
