Going to planting the garden today also Cedar, we also do to money will have to plant all the seeds. So hopefully everything will come up good this year.

Planning on going to A celebration of live gathering at my hospital on Sunday, since it is cancer survivors Day. My two girls, my sister, niece, hubby & I are all going. It is a great celebration for everyone who has fought cancer & is in remission.

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Last band I saw up close, personal, and loud - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nliQk2Uj_I That was this past February. Listen for them on my Christmas show on Coolairity Radio if I get to do one this year.

A couple of months ago we saw Nick Lowe and Ron Sexsmith. They each performed an accoustic solo set.

Now y'all are wondering who these folks are. I like the music below the mainstream radar! As far as the oldies go, I'm more in tune with Loius Jordan, Wynonie Harris, Hot Lips Page, Bullmoose Jackson, Bessie Smith, etc.

Reine, I adore the jazz legend Louis Armstrong...the early years...Billy Holiday is one of my favorites too. ~ And I also agree, classical music can inspire like no other kind of music...sometimes it's "God-like", the feeling it can give you. Very moving, in fact, it is on my radio right now...playing Bach!

:tree:

Yes! I think classical music is very inspiring! It can also help you unwind after a long day at work! A nice glass of red wine and Bach! :)

Nah, didn't work. Worth a shot. I said three weeks so we could prepare.

Howdy Hi, Christmas Wackos and music afficiatos of sorts.

Busy start to the week. Boss is away so I feel like playing, but I'm being realllllllly good and working hard instead.

Nice to see you, Mamma.

Too bad about Bo. Thankful for the music though.

Gotta motor - someone tell O'Malley the cat to stop looking at me like I'm a complete disappointed, I got a little hot, shook my shirt to create a breeze and he "shot me a look" because I'm disturbing his beauty rest.

Crown - did you visit O'Malley recently, he seems to be extra sleepy these days.

Happy Hump Day, Carl et al! Keep a festive song in your heart!

The week is almost over, hope it is going well for everyone. Went and saw the new Narnia movie today, I thought it was very good. Which means I missed some of our pretty weather :(
On the plus side I was flipping around the channels and found a Christmas episode of "That 70's show" on, made the night even better!

Good morning! I can hardly stand the anticipation.....it's ALMOST FRIDAY!!! :???:
Had a fun night last night...they were able to run the Prelude To A Dream at Eldora. We didn't actually go this year (1st one we've missed :() but we went to the local pub w/ my sister & her hubby & watched it on Pay Per View! It was so fun to watch! I don't know how many of you are Nascar fans, but it is just wild to know that there are 20 some Nascar stars (Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Tony Stewart, Ray Evernham, Matt Kenseth, Mark Martin, Bobby Labonte, Kyle Petty, DW, etc.) racing 20 minutes from our house in our little "hick town" area!! The drivers had a ball "drivin in the dirt" & I'm sorry we weren't there, but it was very cool to watch it on tv & catch all the interviews & the drivers screwing around...the stuff you miss if you are actually there! Anyway...it got a little late last night & I'm a little sleepy this morning, but it will be alright!!

Have a super day! It's going to be a HOT one here...93 & humid as all get out!!!

.....Crown - did you visit O'Malley recently, he seems to be extra sleepy these days....
No, he dropped by here for a short nap. Not to worry - we were in separate beds.
(Oh by the way, If he demonstrates a trace of narcissism, beware that he stopped by the Shsipering Pines to visit with Carl a spell on his way back to you.)

<< 'Twas the day before Friday, and all through the thread,
not a member was snoring ('cept Crown in his bed). >>

Good Morning, all.

Hmmm..... We once had a poll about what we most looked forward to - Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.
Should we conduct a similar poll on Friday vs Friday Eve?
(Nah! I think I know what the results would be!)

Wow! What heat all of a sudden!
Mid 90's yesterday and the weather service now predicts at least 5 straight days where the high will not be below 97.
And it's not even Summer yet. Geez!

Days to the Season: 161
Days to Christmas Day: 203
Close - so close - to the 200-Day mark!
Then next month - the 2/3 Season mark.
Can the year really be going by that fast?
Are we on a rocket ship back to the Christmas Season?

Have a Thrilling Thursday, fellow Christmas Comrades!

Good Morning. A mellow day here. I don't work today but will attend my daughters vacation bible school at noon for a little skit and some singing they plan to do for the parents. Our weather today looks like this... Rain showers likely in the morning...then chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs around 60. I don't think we will be back up into the 70's until next week. Hope everyone has a good day!

cheesy Merry Greetings, Christmas Chums!

Beautiful weather here lately even with the electrical storm followed by a crazy gust of wind that nearly lifted the parked car I was in last night before the rain came.

Nice soaking for the Spring flowers and the leaves on the trees seem more green than the day before.

Temps been around 78F. Won't be around much this weekend, gotta a few chores to do around here tomorrow and it's a shame I'm not outdoors the sky is so blue not a hint of clouds.

Finally got around to unloading some Spring photos and a few new ones of O'Malley to add to his album.

I have Monday off so if I get my work done tomorrow, I'll have plenty of time to play here and there and still get out for a stroll in nature.

O'Malley is starting to develop some sort of hump in the middle of his back, not sure what caused that ... only Carl the Camel knows the answer.

"We found out Whispering Pines of Chappaqua -- the local flower shop -- has been delivering a bunch of arrangements to the Clinton house -- some for Hil, some for Bill and some for both.

So why do people send flowers? A wedding -- no. Funeral -- sort of. The end of a Presidential campaign -- bingo."

Found this happy little quote on TMZ...I have no opinion on the political aspect of the article but rather the name of the florist intrigued me...So just think...Right now, Hil and Bill are dining on fired twinkies surrounded by flowers from the shispering pines...We're almost world famous folks!!!:snowball:

Good Sunday morning...temps today will be in the 90s like most of the country it seems...with Monday being the hottest day. The heat won't break till Wednesday. How did we go from a chilly spring right into a heatwave? It's very odd...must be that global warming weird patterns.

Enjoy the day...stay cool and I believe we hit some kind of milestone today but obviously I'll wait for the countdown king to tell us more about that.

Hmmm..... How about "Monarch of the Count"?
Or, "Dr. Countdown", perhaps?

Either way, Dom is correct - we HAVE reached "some kind of milestone", as he so drolly put it:
Days to the Season: 158
Days to Christmas Day: 200
That's right! The 200-Day Christmas mark is here!!
Not only do we have another milestone to celebrate, it also means that we now can look on to the next one, which happens to be the TWO-THIRDS Season mark - and it arrives just next month. Think of that, now. 2/3 of the way back again.
It's just not possible for the Season to be that close, is it??
(Been thinking about getting started on that gift shopping, yet?)

Hot, Hot, Hot!
We hit an even (or, odd, if you choose) 100 degrees yesterday. More of the same for the next 2-3 days.

My solution to the no-A/C problem: I open the windows at night and put fans in a couple of them. Gets the inside all cooled off, nicely overnight.
The next morning, I keep the fans running until the temp outside gets up to the inside reading. Then I close the windows, but keep the fans running to circulate the air.
Works rather well and it's only uncomfortable in the late afternoon and early evening.

Have a Super Sunday, friends!
Rest up to begin moving another week closer to Christmas!

AuntieMistletoeDear
06-08-2008, 02:43 PM
cheesy Tomorrow is going to be a fantazmagoracle day! What's wrong with today? Nothing, but tomorrow we will be out of one day closer to Christmas.
I'm not at work tomorrow, but I arranged for someone else to announce the special countdown to Christmas over the intercom. Everyone will know I was behind it even if I'm not there.

Just stoppin' by for a quick "hi", most of my chores are done. Whew! More work than I thought. Tomorrow it's floors and then off to the Mall to see what I can find for my dad for Father's Day.

O'Malley the cat is a bit upset right now because we changed things around again and now he has no access to the top of the kitchen cupboards, one of his favourite perching spots, so he stormed out the door and said he was going to the Shispering Pines where he feels understood. Yikes! All that will come of it is he will find out from Carl the camel how to out-smart us.

Have a super-dee-duper Sunday!

That's the 1/2 marker to Christmas Day, this being a leap year.
Thanks for pointing that out, Dom.

As such, our next milestone is actually only 16 days away!

Greetings from Tornado Central! ~ Wow!

We dodged funnel clouds ALL week-end...I was helping out at a music camp and around 4 pm. while the classes were in session, the sky turned black & green (that odd color combination before the storm) the sirens went off on the campus. All two hundred or so of us piled into the basement ( the hot, stuffy basement) and waited...and waited...and waited.... I guess the funnel cloud hit down 10 miles away but just missed the college.
I was raised in Michigan and I can't remember ever really "going to the basement" for shelter. I wasn't really scared, more worried about my horses.

Another hot humid day...hope everyone stays cool & comfortable...

Here, catch this!

Hey, Cedar - did you catch the Belmont Stakes yesterday?
"and they're off".

Yes Auntie, I managed to run home when we got let out of the basement and checked on everything. Turned the race on just in time to see poor Big Brown come in LAST! Trainer Dutrow was SO cocky about his horse...saying that it was a 'foregone conclusion' that BB would win!

Guess old "Karma" strikes again!

They did pay some tribute to Eight Belles which was nice to see.

Good morning!!! :hi: We made it through another Monday! We had some wild weather again last night. It got so windy again! Ripped the awning off our neighbors trailer (at the lake) ~ that is the 2nd time this year they have lost an awning. The wind took it this past winter & he just had a new one put up a few weeks ago! ARGH! Ah well...nobody was hurt & that's what matters.

Small shower here at the moment but nothing to talk about, they are calling for a severe thunderstorm tonight, with high winds, hail, & lighting strikes. They just announced Tornado Warnings for areas to the East of us, will have to keep an eye on that since that is where my sister lives.

I watched about an hour of Deck The Halls last night. It is really cute so far!! Unfortunately I didn't sit down to start watching until after 11 PM last night, so I couldn't stay awake for the whole thing! Ah well...now I have something to look forward too tonight!

For Fathers Day we are having our annual party at the lake. My hubby & I host it every year & it's for my family & his. It's always a good time....boating, bean bags, hilbilly golf, etc. We have been very fortunate as far as the weather goes. Hopefully it will hold out again this year...it's supposed to be really nice!! I haven't decided if we are going to grill out, or if I'm going to make sandwiches in the crockpot! Decisions, decisions! Crock pot is easier b/c then we can spend more time out on the boats...we don't have to rush back to fire up the grills!! Anyone else with plans??

90F?? Hmm... very sunny in the UK but temperature-wise not very good recently... but really, the summer has only just started! =) To be honest, a lot of flowers in the various plants / bushes / small trees I have in my garden are dying-out (not the bush itself, just the flowers on it)... so I presume its the lack of quality warmth and weather... most stuff grown in the UK to be sold are in greenhouses though...

Good morning.
Enjoy Sat as we head towards the 1/2 Christmas marker...sad news about the heart attack of Tim Russert...I guess "you never know" he was working one min and the next he had died of a heart attack. Enjoy each day of your life as much as you can be happy...

My husband was quite shocked by that news.

Danny Davis died and no one's noticed.

You mean the guy who introduced the sound of horns to country music?

Someone else passed away today. The world didn't know her, but those who knew her (and those who knew her very well - she was a private person) will miss her greatly. My friend, Pat lost her battle with cancer this morning.

Hey, what gives? :tree: I went to the Shispering Pines and you have to pass the Christmas tongue twister test before you can gain entry.

Try these ten times really fast ...

Seven Santas sang silly songs.

Chilly chipper children cheerfully chant.

Santa's sleigh slides on slick snow.

cheesy Good Morning Festive Forum Chums - eggnog stalkers, coffee-addicts, tea-drinkers, and father's!

Happy Father's Day.

If you have the time between posting and being pampered and have the opportunity, grab a good Father's Day flick and settle in for some viewing.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is a good father and dad movie. Really.
Star Wars, when your father turns out to be Darth Vader - well...
East of Eden There's a classic. Two brothers fighting over their fathers love.
Ted Danson and Jack Lemmon and young Ethan Hawke deliver a touching performance in DAD.

And while you're at it, you could always toss in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation or It's A Wonderful Life - George Bailey was a father so it counts as a Father's Day film not just a Christmas one.

Or if you have the collection you can relax to Father Knows Best or My Three Son's, etc.

Looking for something to do with your dad today or to involve your children in something for their father ...
How about playing a game of Mini-Putt or carrying dad’s golf bag around the 18 holes.
Take the opportunity to enjoy flying kites or playing a game of catch.
Dig out that old monopoly, clue, battleship or trivial pursuit game and have a family games night for old time sake.
Maybe you can just give up the TV remote for the day without batting an eyelash.

And if there are many miles between you, a phone call is always a nice touch.

cheesy Thanks for the comments regarding my friend. I'm doing okay.

Spent four hours with my dad and my husband a brief ten minutes with my mother and a little over an hour with my brother.

Wasn't my idea of how the day was going to go, but hey, it's Father's Day so he gets to call the shots.

Son #1 called this morning, son #2 has yet to call, but is probably being spoiled well-done style by his children and will call later - got a touching letter from him to pass along to my husband via email.

Salmon on the grill sounds great, Annette. We had a big meal for lunch and are having a lighter dinner. We had seasoned chicken thighs and potato salad.

We've been surviving on fans so far, the AC goes in next weekend to prepare for the first week of July which we anticipate will be very - very hot.

Have fun in Alaska, Binger!

We grilled out hamburgers, green onion brats, cajun brats, hot dogs, chili cheese hot dogs, & I made lasagna, vidalia onions augratin, strawberry pie, a salad w/ lettuce from the garden, & a mexican dip. Everybody else brought cheese potatoes, fruit, pineapple cake, cookies, brownies, deviled eggs, potato salad, cherry pie, spinach dip, cheese ball... (see what I mean by lots of food...lol) A storm moved in tonight, but not until everyone was gone, so that worked out well!

Good morning!! It was a quiet day here yesterday! Christmas really is going to be here before we know it...and I have to be honest, I am not ready! I love, love, love summer!! I also love celebrating Christmas all summer long! :hello: I just enjoy being able to walk outside without putting on shoes, a big coat, gloves, & a hat! I also like summer laundry much better...no bulky sweaters, sweat shirts, & jeans = less loads of laundry! :-D So I'm going to enjoy soaking up the sun & celeberating Christmas! Now don't get me wrong...Christmas wouldn't be Christmas to me w/o cold & snow...so I'll be ready for that by the time November/December gets here (ready or not... ) but I'm not going to wish away my summer! Gee Holiday! I'm the exact opposite of you!! I can't stand summer! It's so hot and muggy and I feel like I stink every time I go outside because I start sweating!! Summers here in Georgia aren't as pleasant. Believe it or not, our July & August get like that too...I just stay in the AC!! Although early June was rather hot & muggy this year!! We normally only hit temps in the 100's for a couple weeks, but mid 90's are normal. But I don't think I could live down south where it is hot like that all the time for months! WEW!! I could do w/o the bugs & especially the mosquito's....with all the farms around here we are the Mosquito (and fly) Hilton! They have been really bad this year....again! I especially *love* (NOT) driving down the road & it sounds like it's raining....but the sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky....it's bugs hitting your windshield! UGH!!! BUT I love all the perks of summer...neighbors being outside, boating, gardening, hanging clothes on the line, bonfires, grilling out, picnics...all the stuff we don't do in the winter b/c it's c-c-c-c-cold & we are "stuck" inside!

Quick in and out. Don't know if I'll make it this way tomorrow, I still have a bit of organizing left to do for Friday's Relay for Life. We're dedicating our night to Pat. There will be room for the two-dozen names we have collected for our footprints. Last year, I carried names in my pocket above the names we added to our banner - this year they're all coming out in the open.

It's been a bit of a challenge to help another friend of mine continue to feel joy in her surival. She's got some guilt going on since Pat passed away. I'm pretty sure I convinced her that she survived for a reason and deserves to rejoice in her five years of recovery. Julie was one of the first friends I saw go through treatment and only missed two days of work. Talk about strength of character.

She doesn't know it yet, but I'm having a luminary lit for her, she'll find it as we walk the track. It displays her name and three simple words that mean alot "Friend and Champion".

With all that's been going on this week, I still managed to think about Christmas. In fact, I used my small white Christmas hand towel with a gold embossed Christmas tree on the trim during my work out.

cheesy And today I was humming "Deck the Hall". I also shared the number of days remaining to the delight of two latency aged boys and the dismay of the postal worker.

I also made a mistake when I was passing some egg cartons onto someone at work collecting items for recycable crafts for a camp program. I said, "here's some stuff for the camp, there's eggnog, containers, buttons, ribbon - wait no there's no eggnog." I stopped to laugh and then just handed the bags without trying to say egg carton because my mind was elsewhere.

Indeed, Dom, we are now under a week to the 1/2 Christmas Day marker.
And the 2/3 Season Start milestone has been creeping up on us too - now well under a month!
Can the year really be going by that fast? (Or is it all an illusion? Will we soon wake up and find out it's really only February?)

Another cool one this morning with our temp standing at 62.
But again, it's sunny and calm. Great walking weather for this time of the year!

Well, have a Thrilling Thursday/Fantastic Friday Eve!
Keep that Christmas song in your heart.

Hey! I'm starting to feel ignored - no sleep jokes from my friend Binger lately.
Maybe this will get them in the mood:

You drink too much coffee when...

1. Juan Valdez names his mule after you.
2. You chew on your roommate's fingernails.
3. You can jump-start your car without cables.
4. You do twenty miles on your treadmill before you realize it's not plugged in.
5. You can't remember your second cup.
6. You have a picture of your coffee mug on your coffee mug.
7. Starbucks has a mortgage on your house.
8. Your birthday is a national holiday in Columbia.
9. You don't sweat - you percolate.
10. You grind coffee beans in your mouth.

Warmer this morning, with the thermometer outside my back door standing at a comfortable 74.
Slight possibillity of rain today with a better chance tomorrow.

Well, a good time was had by all at the Shispering Pines yesterday.

The fired twinkies were great as was the iced tea.
And thanks to the film, we all know how to properly stalk eggnog.

I had a nasty fall though. Someone spilled coffee on the floor.

Good Morning, fellow Christmas fanatics!
I hope everyone's Weekend is off to a Wonderous start!

We stand at a beautiful 70 degrees here in Raleigh at this hour.
It's bright and sunny with a slight chance of rain this afternoon.
The Eastern Cardinals should be breaking into song at any moment!

Days to the Season: 145
Days to Christmas Day: 187
Closer and closer to that 1/2 Christmas Day milestone, now a mere 4 days away! Fantastic!

Oh, Cedarfarm - wherefore art thou?
I sure hope that new computer arrives soon. No word from you for nearly a week, now.
Can't you beg, borrow or steal a temporary subsitute just to let us know how you are doing?

Have a Stupendous Saturday, folks!

Hi Friends! Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Mine so far has been good. I am at the local library right now where I am keeping nice and cool. It's a warm one outside today. Also, I seem to be able to access MMC much better on this PC than mine at home. I have been having alot of troubles viewing posts etc etc. Anyhow....Hope everyone is enjoying their day!

Hey everyone!

I've been a little down today. I don't know why exactly. I thought I would come on here and play for a while to see if that would cheer me up. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Summer has arrived. Had some rain during the relay, not a downpour, but some steady misting with a few "run for cover" moments.

Found an old Summer tune for y'all.

Seals and Crofts ~ Summer Breeze from ‘73

And for SugarPlum -
Andy Williams (and brothers) ~ Winter Wonderland

cheesy Hope that cheers you up a bit!

I'll catch up more tomorrow, I'm zonked.

Good Morning!
I'm proud to announce my new DELL computer...( LOTS of assembly required!) I don't remember fussing around with my last computer like I have been this one...I bought a larger screen and the type on it is washed out...will have to work out details...but at least I am HOME...on my OWN computer, not a hijacked one.

Lovely day here, the farmer is cutting our hay field so the air will smell like sweet fresh grass all day....Summer is here! Yeah!!!!

So glad I didn't miss the Bingster's departure.

Have a glorious day my friends..

Good Morning Christmas friends!

An overcast one here, with the distinct chance of rain.
We had a nice downpour late yesterday afternoon which should help with the greenery.

Have a Super Sunday, everybody!
Rest up to start moving another week closer to the Season!

Thanks for the music links, Auntie.
You can always be counted on to spread cheer!

Hiya Crownster!

Crown, do you have that photo I took last fall/winter with the adirondack chair under the maple tree and it just snowed? (You really liked it and wanted to use it for a calendar). That was one of the photographs I lost.

I'll start shooting new snow pictures as soon as the white stuff begins to fall...

Right now I'm trying to get DS to take a nap. As usual, he is fighting me. Sigh. This morning, we listened to Christmas music, I read the paper, had a cup of coffee, and had breakfast. He then "cooked" me breakfast in his play kitchen. It's been a really nice day so far. Now if only I could get him to fall asleep, I might be able to get some chores done...

cheesy Good news, Cedar! Glad you're back with a new computer just waiting for photo uploads and happy Christmas posting fingers.

I don't think I copied that photo, but I'll have a look around. I do have one or two of yours though. I'll dig 'em up.

Emski - you're spoiled well. Good stuff! I feel pampered enough when I get turkey breast in the middle of the week for now special reason.

Check out the beautiful red moon that helped illuminate our Relay walk Friday night.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/Spring%20and%20Summer/Relay099.jpg It's a big cookie! Someone took a wee bite.

Pickerel and vegies for dinner and I'm off the computer for a bit as my husband is feeling a tad neglected.

Catch y'all later!

Good morning Christmas gang! I can't believe it's Monday already!! Darn weekend flew by again!!

I don't remember ever seeing that picture before, but it's a beauty!! Welcome back Cedar!!! We missed having you around!

The "last page" link to Christmas Countdown isn't working for me again this morning. After I post I'm going to try & go back to read what I all missed over the weekend. When I logged on, it said there are 400 new posts on MMC since Friday afternoon! That's a pretty busy weekend!

I haven't read yet where you are going Bing, but I hope wherever it is you have a great trip!!! :-D

I hope you all had a great weekend, & continue on to have a great day!!! :)

cheesy Anyone using IE is likely experiencing problems with the loading of the last page. The thread is so long (and we're not quite halfway to the start of the season), we have to jump onto the first page, let it load and then click on last page.

Jeff is working on it.

:hello: Binger's getting excited about their trip to Alaska. Don't forget to stop by the Shispering Pines before you go so I can slip into your suitcase.

I have the day off today so I'll divide my time between napping and posting. Somehow posting right after Crown makes me a bit sleepy - sleepy - it's hypnotic.
