I'm having trouble w/ the last page too Cedar! I think someone said Jeff is working on it, & that it was because this thread is soooooo BIG!!!
Me too Cedar... I love the smell of onion & burger together, but these haven't been fried together yet. We just chopped the onions & put them in a big container. Our friends bring over their flat top grill to fry the burger on every year. It will all cook together in the kettle. Mmmmmm, can't hardly wait! :-D
I've been a cleaning fool tonight. Cleaned ALL night & I'm still not done! It's a good thing we have this party every year...good reason to give our house a good cleaning! (even though it's no fun to do, it feels good when it's done!)
I wish I could have seen that picture you wanted to take today Cedar! Love the idea of a camera in your shades!!! I think you're on to something! :hello:

Happy, happy Friday. Okay, now I'm going to try to stay until The Day. I'm going in for surgery on July 21st. Supposed to be in there for three or four days, then to my daughter's house for a couple of weeks. I'm praying I'll be feeling up to Christmas in July. At least watching on tv.

Ah, now you're trying to unravel one of life's great mysteries there!!
You see, there are 2 members on this site who are a question mark, wrapped in a conundrum, shrouded by an enigma.
Binger and Crown - these two are better than the Witness Protection Programme. They are both gender neutral (we have yet to detect any clue as to whether they are animal vegetable or mineral - indeed, ARE they bigger than a breadbox?? Enquiring minds want to know....)
We could be chatting with Old Father Time and Mrs Folger or the entire script-writing team for the Tonight show (although Binger's operas are far better than anything they could come up with)
We just don't know.............

Who is "them"?
"Them" is "They", as in "We", the gender Mystery Twins.
Good Morning, Weekend and Christmas lovers!
I hope your Saturday is off to a Stupendous Start!
If So, Sensational! If not, Sad - So Sorry.
Speaking of "S"'s, it is Seventy-Seven outside in Raleigh at this hour.
A very brief, hard rain yesterday evening. More possible today.
But the tomato plants in my father's back yard are doing great!
Days to the Season: 138
Days to Christmas Day: 180
I hope everyone has a Wonderous Weekend!

The predicted rain did not fall yesterday and now none is in the forecast until the weekend. I got some outside work done yesterday.
After 23 years, the old Crown Vic's bright trim has become all cloudy with acid rain and other contaminants. It's going to be a long project with fine grade steel wool and metal polish but the results will be worth it. Maybe I'll post a photo.

I like the sound of that! I'm starting to panic like I did last year around this time because I'm a tad behind on my Christmas gift readiness project.

*Auntie, hope O'Malley is a good boy at the doctor's office today!
He is just going in for a routine visit I hope and nothing serious...
Yes, it was just for his annual check up and shots. He weighed-in at a whopping 21.5 lbs. I figured 20 so I wasn't too surprised. However, the female VET was not on vacation this time (last year we saw her partner) so she gave me a meauring cup for O'Malley the cat's food and he has to lose three lbs. by next year and two the following year.
Sure glad I'm at work five days a week so I don't have to hear him cry about it. Anyone feeling sorry for my husband? He wants me to take a poll. HeeHee. I honestly don't think he's overweight, he's mostly muscle, but he is having a bit of trouble reaching a certain spot on his back when he's grooming. So, we'll attempt to get him into shape.
I told the Vet. "I've been working on my abdomina tuck and feelin' good". She said, "the instructions were for your cat." HaHa.
We've got a dose of something in our house...even one of the cats are sick...So to the vet she goes and maybe to the Dr. we go...Such is life...And all of this right before we are on vacation...Oh well...I already have the time off so I'm going to enjoy it no matter what we do...Hard to believe that tomorrow is the forth already...Seems like Ground Hog Day was the day before yesterday...Have a great day guys!

:hello: I had a Christmas-kinda dream before I woke up at 3:45 this morning. In my dream, my husband and I were in a new place (never would live there, but it was a dream) and we had a few friends over and were having a party when I heard the sound of my dad's car drive up. I looked out and saw my dad take a fully cooked turkey out of the back seat, he put it on the trunk of the car and proceeded to carve it right there.
I said, "everybody hide downstairs!" (not sure why, I'm an adult and I can have friends over if I want).
I went through a hall to open the door to invite my dad (and the turkey) in, but the halls never ended, it kept going on and on and on and curving round one way and another until I got really frustrated and woke up.
Never got to taste the turkey. BooHooHoo!
Guess what I had for lunch today?
A turkey sandwich. My husband made breast of turkey while I was at work and surprised me.
Am I spoiled or what?

A warm 78 this morning with the promise of 90's by this afternoon along with increased humidity.

Days to the 2/3 Season milestone: 10.
Single digits to the 2/3 Season mark as of tomorrow!

Yes, it was just for his annual check up and shots. He weighed-in at a whopping 21.5 lbs. I figured 20 so I wasn't too surprised. However, the female VET was not on vacation this time (last year we saw her partner) so she gave me a meauring cup for O'Malley the cat's food and he has to lose three lbs. by next year and two the following year.
.
Auntie... O'Malley is HUGE!! He weighs in at a whopping 21.5 lbs?? WOW! He must be so pretty...the pics of him you have show a much slender cat! He must photograph well...!!
I had a Maine Coon cat, "Biggie Munn" who was gigantic..weighed 23lbs. ...had a mammoth head. He was a sweetheart and the best cat who loved to get into the empty Christmas boxes while we decorated the tree.

Thanks for the belated Canada Day wish, Cedar! And yes, O'Malley is a big boy; I think he sucks in the excess weight when he hears the click of the camera. According to my husband, he has cut back on what he's been feeding O'Malley. Lately he's been adding a few shadflies and spiders to his menu. And I love Maine Coons, they're gorgeous cats.
Yesterday one co-worker notice I was wearing red white and blue clothes, she said, "you're looking very patriotic today, did you move across the border?" I said, "nope, this is for my friends in the States though."

Well, I would have if there had been any. We got rained out. Actually STORMED out. Mother nature put on a great "fireworks" show of her own!
....And I feel the same way about the holiday. Always play my Sousa tape for the 4th and the preceeding few days. It would be as if I were missing something if I did not observe some of the traditions.
Enjoyed the Boston Pops holiday concert on CBS at 10:00, too.

Tossing around those snowballs http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/Holidays/FiresideXmasTree264x198.jpg makes me want to curl up with a good Christmas book near a fire.
It's been nice weather here - with off again on again rain - threats of storms that blow over, shadflies dead on the doorstep or snagged in spider webs I can't quite reach without a powerful hose. (Will share shad pics in the future -of live ones.)
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/XmasDrummer.gif Wenceslaus - nice to have you sharing the Countdown with us.
There's plenty of lingo you aren't likely to find in your search engine, don't ever be shy in asking.
You don't have to like plaid or operas or eggnog or say YABBA - just because - you can still enjoy counting down along with us in your own unique way.
Binger took a trip to Alaska and the rest of us toss out the YABBA and such because we miss them (and them is the gender neutral Binger (or Crown) in reference. Binger also lovessssssss coffee so JAVA YABBA can also be found throughout these countdown pages.
Congrats on the job, Maureen - enjoy your time off ... you too Jay!
Thanks for coming down off the roof. Can I suggest a little less caffeine?
Should have whispered that one - just in case Binger reads it.
Bottom of the Monday to y'all, hope the rest of the week treats you kind!
One more thing ... (I feel like Columbo trying to exit)
Hey, Cedar - we have a traffic law in Ontario (just like in California) if you use a cell or mobile and your car is in "drive mode", you'll get a nasty ticket.
I can't stand it when someone is giving a dose of heavy "uggh" to someone on their cell in the checkout at the mall. Takes the pleasure out of spending money.

~Ok...I'll try this again (got bumped off for no good reason).
I went to beautiful Lake Michigan today. Up early, low humidity...promise of low 70's and lots of blue sky. Packed the cooler, maps (I know this route backwards and front, but every girl needs to pack maps.) A stop at a McDonalds for a large java and on my way. Took a little over an hour and I pulled into Oval Beach in Saugatuck around 9:30.
WHAT THE!??? The place was swarming with people...MY nightmare! (the less people the better for me...but that's just me. )Turns out our leader Governor Granholm was signing "The Great Lakes Compact" right there on a brown picnic table with cameras and vans and tons of suits. This was one VERY important day for Michigan. We are protecting our lakes from those water deprived states that keep asking for it. These pristine lakes remain ours...for awhile at least.
I took my sheet down to the beach, watched some anxious dogs swimming out to their owners and felt proud to be from this wonderful state.
Also, glad I can come here with all of you...anyone who cares...and write what I feel.

Yes, we do Cedar! If I do say so myself and I just did.
About Groucho. Thanks for the memories. When I was twelve, my parents took us to Second City Review - at the old Firehall in Toronto (this is where the future Second City and some Saturday Night Live personalities got their start) - anyway ... my Irish twin brother (born eleven months apart) was a huge Groucho fan. We watched all the movies growing up. One of the sketches included several "best scenes" and my brother continued to whisper Groucho's lines in my ear word for word along with the performer.
He sure dished out some Whoppers.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/Holidays/whoppers.jpg
See how happy you are with life, when you first reached the beach you were not thrilled about the crowds, but once you investigated it, you were able to enjoy the day and put a positive "State" spin on the whole thing.
I wear my mask and snorkel (no tank) when I go to the lake so I don't want too many witnesses myself - but the mask and snorkel are like Dumbo's Magic Feather - without them I'd sink like a stone.
Happy Hump Day! Speaking of humps - howdy hi Carl the Camel. Hope you are leaving a few blends at the Shispering Pines for Crown to enjoy upon their return.

WELCOME BACK, BINGER!
My holidays started at 5:20 pm yesterday. YABBA!
Surprise! We arent' going away this week, just some day trips and photo opportunities. Might spend a night at my brother's cottage to relax around the water.
Check this out ...

I have heaps more where those came from. Not as sunny as I'd hoped, but that might have worked to my advantage for snapping photos at Duschesney Falls.

Great hiking spot - signs posted everywhere not to swim in it because it's too dangerous.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/NB%20Tour%20Spots/TourNB009.jpg
You should have seen me sprawled over a large rock like a genuine nature nut not worrying about the moss on the gigantic rock I made my way to in order to capture some of those close-ups.
Only left with one misquito bite. Y'all are worth it. HaHa.

I've talked on and off for a few years about the wonderful carousels and heritage train down by our waterfront.
Alas, I have some photos to share.
Our Winter Wonderland Carousel is my favourite, yule see why ...

RJD - there are even a few "mug shots" of him in there.
And for those curious about his diet, we've actually cut back on his food, but it's been a bit muggy around here so he didn't seem to mind. He was too hot to eat anyway.

cheesy Good afternoon, Christmas Wackos around the Globe!
Went trekking in the bush to the gorge for more photos today. Met a black bear, he was oblivious to us. I don't think black bears are the best at fishing. I'm snapping away, took a quick video too and then one of the rocks or logs moved and I realized it was a bear. At first, I thought "retreat slowly", then I said to myself, "photo op" and I started clicking. I couldn't bring my zoom in close enough to get a great shot of the bear. Nice photos of the rapids in the river, plenty of blackfly bites, one deerfly tried, but didn't succeed.
Photos haven't been uploaded to Photobucket yet. You can't make out the bear too well, he wasn't as close as he appeared through my viewfinder.
I had a dream I was playing with a Slinky down my aunt's old stairs in her old home like I did when we were kids.
Enjoy your evening we're headin' out and about again. Wonder what kind of adventure we'll have next.
Stay tuned to the same festive channel to learn more about the adventures of Auntie Tarzan Mistletoe.
HaHa. :hello: Did I mention it was nice to have you back, Binger. I forgot I was supposed to harrass you in Crown's absence.
Stay tuned for some harrassing later something about drinking too much Java and cheating at cards with Carl the Camel.

Had a great trip to the mountains of Wintergreen, VA. (Just west of Binger country - I could smell all the coffee blowing in from Norfolk whenever there was a strong east wind.)
Beautiful scenery, with lots of wildlife - squirrels, chipmunks, deer, woodchucks...... and hummingbirds - those hummingbirds! Got a photo you'll love. Will post it as soon as it it downloaded.

Good Morning, Friends!
Rise and shine to another Terrific Tuesday.
Why "Terrific"? Why not? It brings us another day closer to our Christmas Season!
Days to the Season: 121
Days to Christmas Day: 163
Sunny and calm today with our temp standing at 70.
The high is supposed to remain below 90 today with lower humidity.
No rain for the next few days.
(Let's get that outside work done!)
OK, here is the photo I snapped in Wintergreen last Saturday.
Was waiting with my trusty Kodak camera close to the hummingbird feeder (they will let you get within about 2-3 feet of them!) when I saw the chance to take this one.
The hummingbird had been feeding when the bumble bee moved in. The hummingbird backed off and hovered, waiting for another opportunity.
(I was lucky and snapped the photo when the bird's wings were fully back. Otherwise, they would have just been a blur!)
Have a great day, everyone.

Binger arrived with Java in hand
As JayIsh took to the airwaves in merry radio land.
And Cedar in her yard with pup running ‘round
Waiting for the last call ‘til Friday was found.
Holiday tossed more grub on the grill
And Dom stopped by with a merry count thrill.
There’s no member called Mrs. Plaid Christmas here
If you’re seeing plaid, it’s Maureen my dear.
While Jonathon offered a link to a quench our mood
To draw a laugh or nostalgia to go with our food.
Annette pops by for a quick little “hi”
And we wait for Iron Eagle to fly by.
When from high above the Countdown thread
Members still hear Crown snoozing in bed.
That’s the best I can do on short notice.

It is so unbearably HOT HOT HOT and humid here today...I was stuck in traffic, getting low on gas, air-conditioner running full blast...listening to our local NPR affiliate WKAR. My favorite announcer came on and announced that due to the heat, he thought he would play us some classical music that would remind us of Christmas & Winter!!!! How lucky was I? YEP, the first song he played was, Die Musikalische Schlittenfahrt. Know that one by any chance?? lol!! "The Musical Sleigh Ride" by Leopold Mozart, of course!!
Then he played "The Nutcracker" and some Leroy Anderson thrown in for good measure!! All of a sudden, the traffic didn't make me mad and the heat wasn't so bad...and I actually stayed in my car when I arrived to my destination so I wouldn't miss Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride". Sigh...it made my day!!!

:hello: Thanks, Cedar!
And I've been awake for hours upon hours, just took a bit of time to journey this way.
Where's that Binger hiding today? Starbucks again? Shispering Pines perhaps scooping the last of the Fired Twinkies and Java before Jay stops by? I wonder.

Just had to tell all of you!!
Now why can't I ever get that lucky??? Lol!!! It's been a HOT few days here too! Holy smokes! I am thankful I work in the AC!!
AWESOME job on the poem Auntie!!
Here we are...it's FRIDAY!!! again!! :???:
Hope you all have a GREAT weekend!!

It is good to realize that we will indeed be down to double digit numbers on the countdown to the season.
I went by a "junk" store that had one table full of cute Christmas things. I looked at and appreciated each and every one of them. Did I buy any to take home? Nope. I left them there so every other passing Christmas-lover could enjkoy them too!

Good evening! I hope everyone had a good day. Mine wasn't bad....Did some digging in the back yard to get things ready for the forms and concrete for our basement. Yesterday I did a little hiking in the mountains. Took a few pics. that I will add to an album if anyone would like to view the area I live near. It was a lovely day and I had a great time. Yesterday evening after hiking I came home and ate dinner and then headed to Chico Hot Springs for a little R&R and a few blended margaritas. Had a nice time and slept well for a change. I swear the water there is so healing. I hope everyone has a great weekend. I hope to get up and hit a few garage sales in the morning.

First one up and at it! Merry Greetings, y'all!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/coffeebrewingkitchen.gif Get it while it's hot!
The weekend is here. Wrapping up the end of my holidays. Back to work on Monday. So, I told my husband I wanted to spend the afternoon watching a movie or two and treat myself to a few snacks instead of having lunch. I picked four movies I wanted to see that I knew he would watch and let him pick which one we'd watch first with one more as a backup. (A Beautiful Mind and Malice) Then I asked him which one from a selection of three would he not pay attention to, but wouldn't mind having it on in the background so I could watch one of my Christmas flicks. He chose the animated Grinch. (Shortest one I've got.)
I’m going to pop The Grinch Who Stole Christmas video into my VCR and join in the Fah Who For-Aze song!
You know the one . . . “Fah who for-aze! Dah who dor-aze! Welcome Christmas, Come this way! Fah who for-aze! Dah who dor-aze! Welcome Christmas, Christmas Day.”

Careful, Dom. Der Binger is gender-neutral, like yours truly. They might throw coffee on you.
(No! Wait! What am I saying?? They would NEVER throw coffee. An empty pot, maybe, but NEVER coffee!)
Good Morning, Friends of Christmas!
Rise, shine, and smell the tea!
Days to the Season: 117
Days to Christmas Day: 159
Moving ever closer to double-digits to the Season!
("lo, the days are hast'ning on....")
Overcast here too, Dom. The temp stands at 74.
Storms possible this afternoon.
Have a Stupendous Saturday, my friends.
And may your Weekend get off to a Wonderous start.
Keep that Christmas song in your heart and the spirit of the Season with you.

Good Morning, all!
Days to the Season: 116
Days to Christmas Day: 158
We are but 2 weeks and 2 days away from the next milestone, the 100-day window. And once we reach that point, we will only be 9 days away from the 3/4 mark. WOW!
A humid and getting-hot 80 degrees outside in Raleigh at this hour.
Nineties predicted for this afternoon, then near 100 by Tuesday. Our typical summertime pattern.
And if that isn't enough, our coast is being menaced by Tropical Storm Cristobal. At least it is supposed to remain offshore and not reach hurricane status.
Have a Super Sunday, everybody.
Rest up to start moving another week closer to our fantastic Christmas Season!

Cooler with overcast on my last day of holidays. Already got a few chores done. Oh well, guess I'll just have to stay in and play around a bit instead of going out.

Well, that's what happens when one drinks too much coffee in 400% humidity.
Good Morning, Friends of everything Christmas!

(Ignor that coffee. You won't get any of it anyway with Bing in the house. In fact, it's probably already gone.)
