Until … what? What happens on November 14?

Actually it's November 13th and it's the official start of the holiday season--at least on here anyway! I only learned about it last year from other regs on this thread like Binger, Jayish, Crown, etc.

Anyway, I had to ring in the season by myself! All the central timers went to bed, I guess. I couldn't announce it on here right at midnight because my dumb computer locked up!

Happy holiday season to all at MMC!

I just finished reading all your posts from last night and wish I could have been here to join you in the real-time countdown to the season.
(I fell asleep during BONES.)
I think the first Christmas forum I discovered on the www was at OrganizedChristmas.com. That was back in 2001. Then last year it was MagicalHolidayHome and this year I've added MMC to my Christmas party.
I've been told I need a 12-step meeting to get over my Christmas nut-i-ness.
Have a great day everyone!

Good Morning.

Wow! What an evening!
Participation was great and the Christmas Season was rung in in style.
(I counted 12, that's right, TWELVE posts placed precisely at midnight.
Incredible!)

A word to those in other time zones.
We in EST must apologize. There are so many of us, we tend to forget that some of our brothers and sisters are in other zones and realize you reach the big moment at another point. Thanks for being here, though! And I hope your Seasons also arrived with a flourish!

But friends, as we move into DAY ONE of our glorious 50-day-depth Season, the count goes on!!
Days to Christmas Day: 42 (Six weeks from today!)
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 14 (Two weeks from today!)

Much warmer (and cloudier) here this morning with our temp standing at 56.
Rain is a distinct possibility today.

Have a Thrilling Thursday, a Fantastic Friday Eve and a Dashing Day One of the Season!
If that Christmas song is not yet on your lips, better break our your favorite Christmas album and pump up on spirit!

(BTW, I got my 2 tree photos taken!
Will post them to the Christmas Blossoms thread shortly in honor of the start of the Season.)

Happy Holiday Season & Fantastic Friday Eve! Sorry, Miller4PlusMore, I had to log off arond 11:20 or so last night.

It was fun being on live for a few hours last night with my Christmas family, we now have 50 days of Christmas here and coming. To celebrate, latter today I'm stopping by Jack N the Box for a pumpkin milks shake, never had one, hope its good.

Anyway, happy day one and have a fantastic Friday eve, I may be MIA the next three days, going to Oklahoma for the weekend.

Can someone explain to me why November 13 was chosen to begin the season? I'm still scratching my head over that one. Why not something like the day after Thanksgiving, or the first of December?

JayIsh

So we have longer to celebrate the season! No other reason than that...and the fact that we've been doing this since 2002...

It IS arbitrary, but a date that has reached general agreement with most of us here.

Crown 84

No matter what date was chosen, not everyone would agree because the start of any holiday "season" is subjective. We just felt that by about Nov 13, the public at large was starting to get into the Christmas spirit.
Plus you have the round figures of it being exactly 6 weeks before Christmas, with a "depth" of exactly 50 days (Nov 13 through Jan 1).

Maureen
11-13-2008, 12:52 PM
It's like Yabba; it's because it is!! You can't really answer how long is a piece of string or how high is up, so this kind of falls into the same bracket.

Not everything comes in black and white; those shades of grey can be a bit of a b*gger at times, eh???!!!!!!!!!

Can someone explain to me why November 13 was chosen to begin the season? I'm still scratching my head over that one. Why not something like the day after Thanksgiving, or the first of December?

Oh, I have read post #1. And it left me puzzled what the significance was of six weeks before Christmas, and wondering why a more relevant date hadn't been chosen.

It is just as relevant as December 25th being chosen for Christmas. It was agreed upon years ago and has become tradition.

If you're looking for some official pronouncement, here -- I'll make it:

Be it known herewith, henceforth and forever that the official start of the Christmas season begins on said date of 13 November and the countdown to such is led by the noble, righteous, and incurably merry Crown. He, and his minions, are hereby certified, notorized, authorized, dignified and hopefully not euthanized within these precincts to celebrate said season with all manner of mirth, witty reparte, wry observation, good humor and poignant repose.

This I declare by the authority vested in me as the domain proprietor of the only surviving Christmas portal dating back to the 20th Century and the owner of the largest, brightest, merriest, cheeriest and doggone Christmasiest website in the world.

So let it be written, so let it be done.

By the way, I'm in LA today (and the day before and the day before), where it is in the mid-70s and should be about 90 by Friday. This has got to be one of the most un-Christmasy places in the entire world. No wonder we don't have many members here from SoCal.

I have a bit of a head cold and have felt pretty lousy while here all week. Last night I thought I'd go out to the stores to try and find some Christmas. But there's a plastic quality, dare I say, to Christmas decor here that just seems to scream LA. Even the places here that sell Christmas can make it feel like Christmas.

Morning all!

Not posted as much as I would have liked this year (started off well, then slowly fizzled out!) Been so busy with work, moving and redecorating house etc I've just not had time to post here!

However, I have kept up with reading all your posts throughout the year from the email updates I receive daily..

Anyway, since my other half and I had our Halloween party, I've been asking her if we can just put up the odd Christmas ornament etc, but the boss says no! Not until the 1st December :( Anyway, I managed to get the lights up outside in our cherry tree for the 'Halloween party' so if I'm feeling like a burst of Christmas lights I just nip into the garage and switch them on ;)

Anyhoo, I cant believe the season is upon us already... this year really has flown by! I'm going to try and savour every day of this season and not just wish it away like I usually do!

Aaaanyway, thats enough waffle from me for today.... Merry Christmas all :)

Good morning fellow lovers of Christmas!
I'm up posting in the dark so as not to disturb dh too much.
Yesterday I came home from work and he told me he was able to get half of my birthday present. I was quite confused. I'd asked for a spaghetti dinner that I didn't have to cook and a carrot cake birthday cake that I didn't have to buy and all of the kids that live in the area sitting at the the table enjoying it with me. (How does he have half of that?)
(Actually, I told him to give me cash, because he would never be able to pull it off.)
Well, folks, my husband does pay attention sometimes.
He got me a Wii. They were out of the Wii Fit at Target, should have some when the next truck comes.
We were watching tv and a commercial came on for the Wii Fit and I said that although I don't get into video games, I could get into a Wii and would enjoy a Wii Fit. (He then told me he'd get it for me but I had to use it naked. He's such a redneck.)
So, we went to our favorite hometown restaurant where I got my free chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting and came home and played with the Wii. (I was clothed. LOL)
At work, I have the job of announcing everyone's birthday over the intercom and radio. I can imagine what all those seekers of revenge have planned for me today since it's now my turn. (Should I call in?????)
Anyhow, this thread is for the Christmas Season, which I am so glad is here!
I tried to go to this website at work but "access denied". I can only go to websites for boring doors, and metal roofing, and silly stuff like that.....

Have a safe trip to the Mountains, Bing! (It gets slippery up there this time of year with all the frozen ice, snow and spilled coffee.)

We did have fun here Wednesday night, didn't we? And with the largest, merriest group we have ever had.
If you missed it, do not fear! We usually try to gather again late on Christmas Eve to ring in the Day.

And just how far away are we? Our count will tell:
Days to Christmas Day: 41 (Under 6 weeks, now. Start getting those lists ready! )
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 13 (Wow! Less than 2 weeks! Can you taste the cranberries, yet?)

Not cold today (57) but very wet. Lots of rain yesteday with more predicted for today. Then dry and cold for Sunday.

Have a Fabulous Friday, Friends!
I hope everyone is enjoying DAY 2 of our Christmas Season!

It's basically a Christmas Bazaar that is held annually at the fairgrounds here. It's a ton of merchants with all sorts of stuff. Handmade items, ALOT of Christmas related items, etc. It has been several years since I last went to it and I just decided this year, "Darn it! I'm going!"

Well, we hit another milestone so soon after entering the Season! This one is largely overlooked.

On November 15, 2001 a forum came along where a few of us would meet for the first time! Christmas.com was certainly the first Christmas forum for me! Now, I have found evidence suggesting that the C.com forums were around as far back as December 1998. However, the archive links are all dead. These forums or discussion newsgroups looked to be seasonal only. One could subscribe to updates http://tinyurl.com/5fq8q3 From the web site in 1998:

:)) I'm back ... and all caught up in the excitement.

Thanks for a wonderful Day 1 post, Jay!

Thanks for all the cheer and participation reaching the start of the season and yes I noticed 12 users had all posted with a time stamp of 12:00 a.m. too, Crown!

It was great to have my pillow with me at the conference, still found myself suffering at least five hours of sleep debt.

Great to have an official proclamation for the start of the season, Mr. Westover.

Thanks for the stroll RJD. I have a confession to make.

When I first posted at Christmas.com, I had no idea I was joining a forum. I didn't even know what forum was. I only had a computer for a year prior to that and mainly used it to type my stories out and do searches for various things of interest. When I discovered Christmas.com, I wanted to share my father's Christmas Miracle story and had to go through a quick registration process in order to do so. I was amazed and delighted to discover that there were people who thought about Christmas during the year - I wasn't alone in that. A special relationship emerged.

My father received his five year clean bill of health (in October) after we nearly lost him to cancer back in 2003 and is happy he doesn't have to go back for anymore follow up visits.

I guess I have my father to thank for unintentionally helping me find a wonderful group of Christmas wackos from all over the world. My family thanks y'all too! Without you, they'd have to listen to me chat about it all year.

I want y'all to know, although I couldn't be here with you as you welcomed the season's arrival here in this very special thread, I was thinking of you at ...

4:36 p.m. 6:15 p.m. 8:42 p.m. 11:15 p.m. and 12:00 a.m. 1:11 a.m.

So, I was with you in spirit!

I enjoyed catching up on the posts while eating two tiny Clementine oranges. My husband surprised me with my very own box when I came home. He and O'Malley missed me. It was only two and a half days, but hey we're still best friends after all these years and being away from each other is never easy. (Moreso for my husband than for the cat.)

Cheers Christmas lovers! http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/ani-elf-104x172happy.gif
Happy posting, Happy reading!

Now I'm off to slumper land. It's not slumber for me, this sleep will be soooooo deep I have to rename it slumper.

Speaking of Christmas Village, in Montreal there is a store called Ogilvy's and every year, they launches a huge Christmas display window. It's the start of the Christmas season for Montreal really. In case you are interested, here are few links with some previous' years pictures. I will try and go this year and post some pictures.
The unvailling of this year's display is this morning. It draws a huge crowd, so I will wait a week or two before going.

Good morning, everyone.
I work every third Saturday, and this is it. Things are starting to slow down as the building season is ending.
Nothing longer than slow days at work!!
Fortunately, I only work until 2.
Afterward, I'll watch 2 of my grand-daughters while their parents Christmas shop.
Yesterday, dh had some teeth pulled and slept all day (which is why we mostly celebrated my birthday on Thursday.)
He goes back in a couple weeks and gets the rest pulled and then he'll be able to get his bottom plates.
He'll be a happy camper.
Have a great weekend.

Nice bit of research, Radio!

I was at C.com earlier than that, though. If you could check under my original name of Crown 85, you can get the date I joined. I remember the board went down for a long time and when it came back up, I could no longer get in as "Crown 85". Tried to re-register using that name but it said they already had such a member and would not allow it. So I had to lower the number by one to get back in.
(BTW, if you could find my original "Crown 85" registration date, I would be curious to know it! Thanks.)

OK, Good Morning, friends!
Welcome to to DAY 3 of our wonderful, incredible 2008 Christmas Season!

How did you mark your entry into the Season?
I always start by switching over to Christmas music and Christma movies full time - I don't listen to or watch anything else!
Started the music with the Glenn Miller orchestra's "In the Christmas Mood II", and watched the classic "Holiday Inn" to start a string of Christmas movies.

But the count goes on!:
Days to Christmas Day: 40
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 12

A surprisingly warm one here in Raleigh at this hour with the thermometer standing at 66.
Won't last, though. The weather service says we will be down into the 20's by some time next week. BRRRRRR!!

Have a Stupendous Saturday, everyone!
And I hope your Weekend is off to a Wonderous start.
(You know we only have one more weekend until Thanksgiving!)

I remember there being a period when the board was down. I wasn't there but everyone talked about not being able to log in. That was because before 2001, the forums were probably seasonal. At least it seems that way. I don’t think the owners of the name back then ever intended them to be all year round. In fact, the forums were only a way to get people to come in and look at the advertising. Christmas.com was a commercial venture through and through. They just didn’t know how to handle a bunch of people for which Christmas isn’t confined to a short season!

I’ll keep digging to see what I can find!

Digging in my free time provides an uplifting stroll down Christmas.com lane.

Note to self: you haven't dug for a few months. And yes, it is addictive.

***

:-) I went shopping yesterday. I found something that takes longer than picking out special occasion cards - it's called looking for books.

I found myself in the book store at the mall looking for a few Christmas gifts for the younger grandchildren and a special book or two to add to a baby shower gift for a co-worker. What a pleasure it was to come across a little girl of about 2 1/2 years of age filled with the same wonderment for books I had as a child. She and her daddy were beautiful together.

I saw and heard beautiful conversations and interactions with other parent/child relationships. It gladdens my heart to see the love and gentleness. Has anyone else noticed a shift in the way parents and children are interacting these days? I don't see conflicts and negativity as much as I used to when I ventured out to look for Christmas gifts. I take it as a good sign that adults get it. Children are important and they are a gift.

I just had to share my "yes!" moment with you.

:playing: Oh yeah, one more thing ... it's snowing outside.

:tree: Hi everyone. Hope you are enjoying your weekend, they are
passing all too quickly now as we get closer too Christmas aren't they?

RadioJonD, loved the trip down memory lane and I almost got teary
eyed with nostalgia when you mentioned all the different times we almost
got broken up without a place to call our own. I registered shortly before
Cedar did and hard to believe that much time as passed and I know many
have been around much longer. Just glad we all found a way of connecting back up each time. (Hint....We were Determined!!!).

Auntie, loved the account of your trip to the book store. It is
good to see positive interaction between parents and children these
days. Whenever someone apologizes for bragging about their child I
reassure them that I am VERY happy to hear that rather than to see
someone put down or yell at their child. I too have always had a love
of books and that is one of the most wonderful gifts we can give our
children. My daughter laughed when she got older cause she thought
every child had their own "library" at home like she did.
Sorry I've been missing in action here lately but I went through a
week of pain with a tooth and just got help with the start of a root
canal earlier this week. I pray someday we will all have better dental
coverage included with regular health care. Right now it pays peanuts!

I went to this yesterday and it was great! I was able to find a great ornament for my exchange partner (I know, I know--I'm late!). I'm sending it out on Monday.

I also bought a cute Christmas collar for Alice (my cat). It's red and white plush (it sort of looks like a hair scrunchy) and it has four jingle bells on it. I'm going to officially put it on her when I get the house decorated. I'll be sure to post a pic!

Finally, I bought this wonderful packet of gourmet mulling spices. I love to mix it with hot apple juice or cider--yum!

So all in all, it was a great time. A little crowded, but it really felt like Christmas--especially smells--every good smell of Christmas was there!

:hello: That sounds like heaps of fun, Miller4+. Nice to see you again, Sparkling Star.

Last year I added four new gift receivers to my list (they come with the oldest son) and this year I'm adding another one (oldest grandson's girlfriend).
It's a bit of a challenge to pick out things for people I hardly know, but I'm a good shopper. I know I'll pull it off.

I bought a few Christmas books and for my co-worker whose baby shower is coming up next Sunday, I found a beautiful large hard cover lullaby book with a CD and although the baby won't be born until early January, I am sure I'm the first person to give the baby a Christmas book. 'Twas the Night Before Christmas should be a must in every child's home. Hey, I still have my copy.

We have an inch and a half of snow. Not much, but it's clinging to the trees and covering the ground like someone dumped sugar from above.

:snowball: Festive Cheers,

Auntie Mistletoe Dear ,in regards to having a hard time knowing what to buy for those that you hardly know ,maybe you could ask the person what kind of thing's they like to do(hobbies/interest's) type of book's they like to read(fiction/non fiction/romance..etc)movies they like .

Not actually ask what they want ,but just ask what they like so you get a general idea .

There was a countdown started for the 2002 Season by a member named wishman35. Our own sgrover started a countdown for 2003 - http://tinyurl.com/5zsur7 and our own savingstar (more active at ChristmasTalk) started the 2004 countdown - http://tinyurl.com/64j7on

In 2005 savingstar started another countdown as did Crown 84 shortly thereafter - http://tinyurl.com/6xr7gr Of the two Crown’s survived to the end of the year. This is the format we follow today!

Our last look at Christmas.com before the rug was yanked out from under us is from August 14, 2006 with Crown again taking the helm of the 2006 Countdown Thread – http://tinyurl.com/5brdsv

Thanks! The anniversary date is subject to change when we locate the "missing" forums! Looks like the forums were completely revamped and put on a dedicated server beginning in 2001; hence the November 21 date.

I've noticed that the deeper I go into the forum archives before 2001, I end up on the current Christmas.com web page.

Holiday and RadioJonD -- thanks for the sweet history notes. It helps us newer members appreciate some of what has gone into building this wonderful Christmas place! To be sure, the basis for all the Merry Network Christmas forums has been around a long time as well! Jeff's history with Christmas communiqués, first by fax, goes back to the mid to late Nineties! It was kinda like Mr. Westover was just waiting in the wings, tweaking his sites and getting ready for us to land!

Most assuredly Jeff has welcomed us with open arms and made our home(s) the best place to be for the year round Christmas Spirit! He has graciously given space for four other Christmas webmasters to open forums that are part of the Merry Network. Each site has its own unique feel and contains Christmas.com members.

Some of us here travel around to some or all the forums and some of us just stay here. That’s okay! Like Jeff says, the Christmas Spirit is not limited to MMC! I like to keep up with all the sites because of the Christmas.com-ers that landed elsewhere and seldom, if ever, come in here. Even though I wasn’t an early member there, I will always have a special feeling for the first Christmas forum I joined. The members there that welcomed me and the ones I helped welcome before the forums folded are special as well!

Jeff, we are grateful for your insight and foresight in creating/managing our current digs!

Hi, Folks!
Sleepy Crown dragging in late this morning.
(I guess I need Binger and their coffee odor wafting down from Virginia to wake me up!)

Anyhoo, Welcome to Season Day 4.
And it's a bright, sunny one here in Raleigh, now that the rain has passed.

We had tornados to the SE of us yesterday and unfortunately there were 2 fatalities with lots of lost homes.
I recall tornados that struck Raleigh about 25 years ago just a few miles north of my condo which destroyed an entire K-Mart buiding and tore through a neighborhood just to the north of it.
It's just all about being in the wrong place at the wrong time. There's really nothing you can do about it but try to get to a safe area - no way to protect your home and possessions.

Our count continues!:
Days to Christmas Day: 39
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 11 (Wow! So close to single digits!)

Have a Super Sunday, everyone!
Tomorrow starts the last week before Thanksgiving, when we will really move into the heart of the Season.

Good Morning Everyone. I've had a nice weekend. Family and I took a long drive into the mountains yesterday. We were so high up we actually ran into quite a bit of snow. I was excited to say the least. Lots of beautiful "Christmas Trees" all around and you could smell the pine (definitely aromatherapy there). I am now considering a real tree this year instead of my artificial trees I have. Hope everyone has a relaxing Sunday.

Good Morning, Friends!
Ready to begin moving into the final week before Thanksgiving and another week closer to Christmas?

Today is Day 5 of our Fantastic Christmas Season, and I'm listening to Mitch Miller and the Gang singing Winter Wonderland arrow-straight.

That's just the way I like to hear Christmas songs - none of these wailing, screaming, quavering, lyric-changing modern "funeral rock" versions, please!
Give me Mitch, Sinatra, the Ray Coniff Singers, The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Percy Faith, Bing Crosby, Perry Como, Anne Murray, Karen Carpenter and Andy Williams.
(I know, I'm old-fashioned, but that's just the way I like it!)

Days to Christmas Day: 38
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 10 (Single digits tomorrow!)

A ch-ch-ch-cilly 35 degrees here in Raleigh at this hour.
Thank goodness there is no wind!
The sun is shining on nearly leafless trees (except for those darn willow oaks. They won't be fininshed punishing my car until early January!)

Have a Marvelous Monday, Comrades!

Indeed it does, HolidayH, as we move into Day 6 of our glorious Christmas Season.
I have the Mormon Tabernacle Choir on the CD player next to me. Beautiful, straight Christmas Music.
I love hearing the individual singers like Bing Crosby and Karen Carpenter, but there is just something special about the blending of voices in a choir!

Days to Christmas Day: 37
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 9 (Single digits at last. Really getting close, now!)

Another cold one here in Raleigh, with our temp standing at 37.
Snow flurries were actually mentioned as a possibility for this morning, but I have not seen any. Our high is only supposed to be 44 today and tomorrow.

A string of holiday performances by school groups begins in the mall today.
I love to hear the student choruses and orchestras!
Makes me feel as if the love of Christmas and its music is safe for another generation.

My sister's family is coming over for supper tonight. Always great to have them, especially as we move further along into the Christmas Season.

Have a Terrific Tuesday, friends!

Hello and Happy Day Everyone.

Talking about detectives -- the US CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) is ADVERTISING on one of my cable TV channels for people "interested in the clandestine service of the United States Government." Gosh! I also thought the CIA snuck up on people and whispered to them that the CIA wanted them to work as a covert agent.

AuntieMistletoeDear
11-18-2008, 06:24 PM
SparkleNana - I didn't know they asked. I thought they just whisked you off in a black car with tainted windows and took you for a ride and suddenly you were in a training class a Quantico.

Snow-snow ... yup, I have snow! It's on the rooftops, on the grass, a bit on the sidewalks, none on the streets and today it was about 36F. Brrrr!

I knew the "fake summer" weather we had two weeks ago wasn't going to last. It snowed a bit just in time for our local Santa Claus Parade on Sunday.

I nearly forgot about it until I was posting away and realized I had to quicken my pace if I was going to catch any of it. I managed to get there about five minutes after it started so I didn't miss too many floats.

It was a Christmas Movie theme. And the popular movies presented via Christmas floats were:
The Grinch
A Charlie Brown Christmas
The Nightmare Before Christmas
The Polar Express
ELF

There were other floats, but those were the common themes. I almost missed snapping a photo of Santa as my batteries died on my camera. Thankfully, I managed to get one shot before my lens closed. I also carry extra batteries, but I wouldn't have had time to replace them before he disappeared from view.

We're decorating at work this Friday! I think it's more than a week earlier than last year. I've heard several people talking about putting their trees and outdoor lights up so the Christmas spirit is catching on.

Wow it's been a long time. My work schedule, and a few family illnesses have kept me busy ALL summer. Now things are just begining to get back to what I call normal. Unfortunatly work is still on one day off every 7 or 8 days. But the good part is that go on leave (vacation) the 4th of December. And . . . . it gets even better. My son Matthew (Cpl. USMC) comes back from Iraq on the 24th of November, and he'll be back her in Chicago,on the 4th of December. What a great way to start my leave. Needless to say, Christmas will be great this year.

GranMaureen, no problem! The 1st question was who turned down recording the song Rudolph before Gene Autry recorded it because he thought the song too juvenile. The answer was Bing Crosby.

The bonus question was what store introduced Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer as a marketing campaign. Answer: Montgomery Ward

As I start this message it's 2344hrs, sooooo Goodevening to all.
I suppose I shouldn't be so smug, at the pace I type it will be morning before I actially post this. Soooo Goodmorning everyone (that should cover all bases).

Peak of the week ???? I wouldn't know, my day off changes each week. Today (Wed) is my thursday. Tomorrow is my FRIDAY !!!! Next week I get Wed, Thur, and Fri. (For which I requested off in May. And with a seniority number of 12, I really don't think I have to worry about getting "bumped".) So bring on the turkey, turkey, turkey.

It's always hard to decide if I should have Thanksgiving wallpaper or Christmas wallpaper on my computer at this time of the year. The answer was simple, Thankgiving on the family computer, and Christmas on my laptop (and screen saver too).

On my ride home I spotted one house with partial Christmas lights on, and one house with a Christmas tree in the front window.

Rack time, talk to you all later.

i feel a rant coming on
i do my asda shop online every week and usually spend around £50
on tuesday it shouldve came to £48.66 but they changed £122 to my bank card!!!!!
i have some direct debits to come out and now i have no money in that account so i will have to put some in at some point today in case i end up with bank charges
i called them last night and totally lost the plot when wilbur in their south african call centre tried to tell me it was the delivery charge!!!!!! he said it would take 7 to10 days to give me my money back and any bank charges incurred would not be pAID BY Asda
i called the local branch and the manager should call me back at work today
the manager himself said never use the call centre ,which is the only number on the delivery slip, its in south africa , always call the local branch!!!!!!!

I just wanted to stop by and say good morning to everyone.
I'm sitting here sipping my cup of tea (I had to give up coffee last week. I was getting such heartburn and indigestion all the time. A week w/o coffe and it's been a week w/o indigestion. I did have a 3-day headache at first, though. LOL)
It's chilly outside, but warm inside.
I have next Tue and Wed off (along with Thursday) and am looking forward to it. It'll be a busy weekend and week, but it's a good kind of busy.
On Black Friday I'll start wearing my Christmas-y jewelry and my socks with bells on them.
Chirstmas is sooooooo close!!!
Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning Friends!

After TrackRebel mentioned seeing Christmas commercials -- I just realized -- I'm not seeing ANY Christmas commercials on television! Oh - I guess I HAVE seen some ToyrRUs and WalMart about Christmas toys. But for the last several days - nothing. Wow!

That wasn't a very cheerful post! IronEagle -- I'm glad you have seen some Christmas lights AND a Christmas tree on your drive home.

I am having a delicious (decaf) cup of coffee every afternoon with either Tiramisu or Pumpkin Spice creamer from the dairy case. But "Italian Sweet Cream" is still the best flavor!!!!!

Good Morning, Friends!

Yet another cold one here in Raleigh, although 33 sounds alot warmer to me than yesterday's 29. Moving up a starting digit and getting past the freezing mark has a positive psychological effect.

Speaking of digits, let's see what ones come up today in our count:
Well, to start off, this is Day 8 of our wonderfully fantastic 2008 Christmas Season. In addition:
Days to Christmas Day: 35 (That's five weeks, guys!)
Days to Thanksgiving Day: 7 (One week from today!!)

I'm posting earlier than usual this morning, since I have an all-day class.
(The state of NC requires 12 hours of insurance-related training each year to keep your adjuster's license.)

Have a Thrilling Thursday/Fantastic Friday Eve!
Keep that Christmas song, and the spirit of the Season, with you.

(Sorry I missed you so close yesterday, Bing.
Guess I must have posted and moved on to anther thread.
Was not trying to avoid you, my coffee-saturated friend!)

Checking in again on the 35th day before Christmas! It's a lovely foggy morning in San Diego. Got my Christmas mojo on listening to my IPOD while walking the dog. My favorite song of the day is Mariah Carey's, Joy to The World. Breath taking!

Good morning everyone !!!

Another long day at work. But I'm off today !!!! No new decorations on the way home, except some thanksgiving stuff. (but that doesn't count.)

I have to turn in early, so I can get up early. Grandma Eagle called and informed me that she would like her tree up today . . . . . . that was a week ago. Today is the earliest I can get there. She wants to be the first in her condo to have her tree up. Way to go Mom.

Cherie - My son is based at Fort Pendleton. Mrs. Eagle and I have had a few visits to your city. Very very nice. We are looking forward to visiting in March or April. My son is getting back from Iraq on the 24th of the month, and will be in Chicago for December. (and that's the best Christmas gift I could ask for)

Sugested listening for today: John Tesh Project - Carol of the Bells

23 degrees here - nice and brisk

Time to turn in, Goodnight (or morning, as the case
