Hi Jayish...it really is a nice place to visit and live. I personally have never been to Glacier but I go to Yellowstone Natl. Park quite often since my brother lives near there. Everyone wants a piece of Montana. Alot of my clients I work for are from San Fransico, Seattle..etc...they want away from the hustle and bustle of city life. So alot of them also own homes here as well. Even our bigger cities here in Montana are more like towns. I mean when I think of the city I think of New York, Phoenix and even L.A. And of course everyone drives like it's Sunday regardless of what day of the week it is...*L It's just a good place to live. I have lived all over the place and this is where I want to be. Also, the speed limit is now 75. No more going as fast as you want...*L I recall these days thou...and if an officer thought you were going to fast regardless of no speed limit they would still pull you over and fine you on the spot. I think once my brother had to pay like 5 or 10 dollars to the officer since we lived out of state and we were heading back to Arizona at that time. We got a warning, paid the small fine (since we didn't want to come back to fight it in court) and it was done and over with. If you want any information about Montana or the parks let me know I would be more than happy to send you some stuff.

HARD rain yesterday evening + some wind. Parts of Raleigh lost power but my area did not. Tornado watch was in effect but it didn't get that bad. The lakes got some much needed rain.
Colder for this weekend but since we are moving well along into March, it shouldn't be bad from here on in.

Have a Wonderful Wednesday, everyone!

Good Morning Everyone...A chilly morning here today. Should warm up to about 32 with some possible flurries later on into the day. We had a little snow yesterday just west of us but didn't stick. Seeing these darling pictures of the baby chicks really gets my hopes up for spring. Jayish I do hope you get the chance someday to come out this way. I think you would really love it here! Good Morning right back at you.
Rise and shine and look!
We are down to single digits to the 1/3 Season marker!

Days to the Season: 252
Days to Christmas Day 294
That's right, a mere 9 days until we move into the 2nd third of our Season count. My, oh My!

It was 40 when I left for the office this morning with the promise of sunny skies and a high of 65. Marvelous walking weather for this time of the year!
Yesterday, while I was using my California car duster on the old steed, I was serenaded from a nearby tree by the first cardinal of the year. A red and black male with beautiful markings!
Love the cheerie call of the Eastern Cardinal. That and the calls of the Red-winged Blackbird and the Whippoorwill are my favorites.

Have a Thrilling Thursday, fellow Christmas travelers!
We are but a hop away from the weekend.

(Speaking of hops, our annual giant Easter Bunny is back at Crabtree mall. I just CAN'T get into a huge rabbit on Santa's throne. Somehow, it's just not the same!)

I hate to sound jaded, or depressing, but I'm amazed that we don't see more of this type of stuff...It's amazing to me that in such a huge city as New York is, there are so few "incidents"...I think that is a credit to our law enforcement and government agencies. I fully believe that way more attempts to hurt us are thwarted than we even hear about!

But you know, in some small way, the terrorists are winning...Cause each time I go over to New York to a large gathering (concert, play, sporting event, tree in Rock Center) I wonder if I am completely safe...But the truth is, you never know...There could be a cop for every guest and I still could get hit by a bus on my way home...I guess what we can do is live our lives like we would normally do and trust that whatever happens is not up to us, at least that's what works for me!

Maureen those pictures are too funny! Reedpoint Montana holds a annual "Great Montana Sheep Drive" every year on labor day weekend. I have been there a few times. It's rather interesting. In a town with a population of less than 100. This event draws a crowd of almost 10,000 people to witness the running of the sheep down main street...as well as checking out the parade, vendors and local street dance. The interstate(I-90) runs through here and with it being summer and alot of tourist from all over the place stop to see what's going on... I can only imagine what they are thinking when they pull in and witness this crazy event. I am sharing 2 pictures of the sheep drive and a funny picture of a sheep on a Motorcycle I found online...*L

Yes it was wool. I wore it with a black turtleneck sweater and black tights! I tried to look like the Brit model Jean Shrimpton...but ended up resembling Twiggy instead! (long stick legs) Funny, I wore my mini skirts with a "Maxi" coat! Which was a long coat, to compliment the mini. LOL. Oh man, Those wild and crazy 60's. Yeahhh they hate that night more than any- where they lose and hour of sleep... I hear they are petitioning Congress to get Daylight Savings Time banned and each week- we will celebrate a return to Eastern standard Time where we turn back the clocks one hour- and naturally after twnety four weekends of this we are no longer in " Today" but are in fact in
" yesterday" and after 48 weeks, we lose two days.... till eventually, there is no future...

Morning Sila... morning the rest of you when you're up and awake!

Interesting weather day down here in SE England. Winds gusting up to 80mph with driving rain. Lovely! Waiting for the powercut at any time!

Had another busy weekend decorating. The kitchen and dining room are now all painted, and have built shelving into our walk in wardrobe... so finally we have somewhere to store our clothes! Hurrah!

Lots to get done before next monday, have the lounge, hallway and stairs to get done as the carpenter is coming out next Monday to fit our solid oak flooring... lovely!

Anyhoo, hope you all have a great Monday!

.....we will celebrate a return to Eastern standard Time where we turn back the clocks one hour- and naturally after twnety four weekends of this we are no longer in " Today" but are in fact in " yesterday" and after 48 weeks, we lose two days.... till eventually, there is no future...

Hey, Hey, Hey! Only 5 more days to the 1/3 Season mark!
Like Old Man River, we just keep rolling along.

Supposed to get into the 60's every day this week - nice!

Hello to all my good friends in Christmastown. Five days till we are a third of the way there??? Unbelieveable...Just incredible!

I had a revelation yesterday...It's time to stop eating like it's Christmastime and time to start eating like I want to fit into my clothes again...This is a battle...When I was a kid I ate whatever I wanted whenever I wanted and still was tall and thin...Well...I'm still tall!!! But the thin part left me...So here I go, losing the same thirty pounds I've lost and found again over and over and over...It comes off quick but I guess I oughta try and not gain it back this time...Just call me the Yo-Yo man...With all due respect to Tommy Smothers...

Ok, Dom, per your request --- PRESTO! Wednesday has replaced Tuesday!
And a Wonderful Wednesday it is here in Raleigh, the capital of the great state of NC - home of the Duke Blue Devils and the Carolina Tarheels!

Days to the Season: 246
Days to Christmas Day 288.
Down to a meager 3 little old days to the 1/3 mark.
Make you feel great?
(And remember - you heard it here first!)

The temp is in the mid-forties here this morning with the promise of a sunny afternoon and mid-60's for the high.
Doesn't get much better than that around these parts for March.
Of course, that means that pollen fall is just around the corner - that insidious, yellow powder that becomes yellow paste (after our typical early spring sprinkles) on my dark blue Crown Vic and my deep maroon Cutlass.
Oh well, a small price to pay for the dependable return of warm weather.

Have a great one, guys!

Here's a useless bit of info for you... the countdown last year (which was started on 23rd July and the last post was on 3rd January) had a total of 1957 posts in 164 days

We are speeding along at day 73 of the countdown and only 2 days from the 1/3 marker, and already have 1189 postings (or 1190 by the time I post this one). This works out to about 12 posts per day last year, and we are now on 16 posts per day now.... the question is, can we keep it up??

I have noticed over the last few days the numbers of posts in this thread has gone down a little bit... are we on the verge of the 'quiet season'??

Days to the Season: 245

Forty for the morning commute with lots of beautiful sunshine.

Ah! Perry Como - one of my top Christmas singers, too!
I suppose you know he admired Bing Crosby and intentionally imitated his style. Both had such wonderfully mellow, smooth voices - crooners personified.

To effectively scream, one must be on the Motown label! If today's so-called singers can't do it like James Brown, they need to sit down and shut up. And what is it with catching your breath after each line? Even Faith Hill does this on occasion. That drives me nuttier than abnormal.

Instead, it is overcast with the threat of rain.
HOWEVER, Cedar has found the perfect wig, Jay has danced himself to cardiac perfection, Binger has found a "10" coffee blended to a "T", I have just awakened from a long winter's nap on a mattress with just the right sleep number -- and all is right with the world!

Actually, the real reason all is right with the world is because we have just reached the 1/3 mark!
The Ides of March brings our eyes toward the second third of our trip back to the Season.
Days to the Season: 243
Days to Christmas Day 285.

On that astoundingly upbeat note, let me wish everyone a Stupendous Saturday and a Lovely Launch into the beginning of a Wonderous Weekend!

Good Morning Everyone. Blue skies here today..but chilly out! 29 out right now...woke up to some frost on my car. Should warm up 44 today with a few sprinkles of rain. Had a nice time getting together with my brothers family last night. We all headed off to the hot springs. I hope everyone has a good Saturday.

You know you are a Christmas Wacko, when you are looking at your Christmas cards the weekend befoe Easter.

Bottom of the coffee cup to you, Binger! Or is that another top, I see?

1/3 the way sounds great. Next month I start looking for Christmas presents to tuck away.

Greetings, Y'all! I'm pretty sure the Groundhog got it wrong. There are signs of messy spring weather on the streets and sidewalks and a few paths here and there, but there is still about five inches of snow and several snowbanks left to go. I think we'll be seeing snow around here for at least another four weeks.

We've had a few snowfalls last week, big fluffy flakes, but yesterday was a bit more mild, I could have made a snowman, but I didn't have time.

:hello: Hi Annette, I've been so busy at work, most of it on the computer so by the time I get home, my eyes and brain are tired.

One of the toys O'Malley still plays with is the spinner with the ball inside. He'll leave it alone for days at a time and then go nuts with it. That's what I picked up for Jazzman.

I got his buddy Ringo some LUVS treats for Easter. Not sure what O'Malley will get yet. He already has his bunny receiving blanket out on the guest bed. I looked for a large soft stuffed sheep puppet, but all I could find were stuffed toys without holes. He has a puppet fetish so I'll guess I can wander downtown tomorrow and look at Creative Learning (children's store) for something he'd like to cuddle with.

My parents are doing good. My mom and I went out for lunch last Sunday and had a good chat. She can recall heaps of stuff from the past and then all of a sudden the foggy memories kick in again. Thanks for asking.

And I think my parents got their kittens name from O'Malley the cat's other name choice JazzPurr that I sometimes refer to him as because he really enjoys the sound of jazz music.

I'll try and snap a picture of him, he's only four months old. I can hardly remember O'Malley being that small.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone!

Good to see ya AMD...would love to see a pic of the kitten. And good morning to everyone. Sunday here and chilly out. May get some rain/snow later today. Got my corned beef thawing out and plan to put it into the crockpot tomorrow. Had a wonderful and busy weekend here. Went and seen my new little nephew. And daughter and I went to the hot springs with my other brothers family friday night. Had a good time and nice dinner together too. My oldest brother who lives about 30 min. East of me also came to stay the weekend with me. Larissa and I also attened my cousin's little ones 1 yr. Birthday party. We had a good time. That little girl was digging into her cake like there was no tomorrow...*L* It was alot of fun watching her. She had cake and frosting from head to toe, up in her nostrils...*L* Anyhow it was busy and non stop for us this weekend but we enjoyed it all. Liked to say I plan to rest today but I'm not I am heading to work here shortly. Have a Super Sunday.

...it looks like the next big marker will be the 1/3 to Christmas which would be I believe 6 weeks from today?....
Per page 1/first post of this thread, calculations to Christmas Day are easy - just add 42 days to any Season marker to get the equivalent Day marker.
(Again, since this is leap year, and owing to rounding off, there could be a 1-day difference on a couple of the remaining percentage markers for this year only. I did not feel like re-calculating everything to see how the extra day and rounding would affect the chart. I'll leave that to some enterprising mathmatician here.
Next year, everything will be back to precision again, anyway)

Days to the Season: 242
Days to Christmas Day 284

The sun has returned! We stand at 55 in Raleigh at this hour.
Looks like the weather service has promised us a good day.

Have a Super Sunday, friends.
Rest up for the start of yet another week in our journey.
(On the right mattress, of course!)

Hello Christmas pals! It has been a long weekend here. Got a phone call yesterday morning that 4 local boys were killed in a car accident. One of the 4 being our good friends (& my co-workers) son. So sad. This is a small, tight knit community so of course we know all 4 boys, & their families, as well as the 2 boys in the other car who ran a stop sign & T-boned them. The 4 who were killed all graduated last year & were home from college for the weekend, so they are 18, or 19 years old & the 2 boys in the other car were 22. The 2 boys in the other car were uninjured. What a tragic, horrible accident. All 4 boys were such nice, fun, just good guys! The whole group of guys they run around with are just good guys! Makes ya ask "Why? What good came out of that?"

Sorry to be such a downer today! Hope you are all having a great weekend! Yesterday was our 11 year wedding anniversary ~ the day sure didn't go as planned! But it sure was nice to have my hubby around to get through the day (and the next week) together! I just hate that our anniversary is always going to be a reminder of Jordan's death. :(

Alright...again...sorry to be a downer. I came here thinking this website always cheers me up (and it does thanks to you guys) but here I am, bringing ya'll down! You guys all take care & hug your loved ones before they walk out the door!

I'm so sorry to hear your news - it's always a tragedy when something senseless like this happens. Please pass our condolences onto your friends.

Please don't let this reflect on your anniversaries with your husband. This is an awful tragedy but what you have together must be celebrated and be eternally thankful that you have each other and the life you have made together. That is something to treasure.

Be joyful that this young man lived and don't spend too long on "what if's" and "if only's"

Morning all!

Happy st paddys day everyone! Hope you all had a glorious weekend! Mine was spent decorating (again!); but we now have light at the end of the tunnel! We have now painted every single room in the house, and it looks fantastic! Even managed to get a couple of coats of woodstain on the stairs, so that looks lovely now too! Have the carpenter starting this morning, fitting nice oak flooring (the real solid stuff, not laminate), new doors through the entire house, new skirting and new door surrounds, I think he is also tiling our kitchen floor for us too! I am so pleased that I dont need to paint any more celings or walls! I feel like I have run a marathon or something I'm aching so much, but its all good as its now done!! YAY!!

Anyway, so we've hit the 1/3 marker now eh? Thats brilliant!! Only a 4 day week in the office this week, as its Easter next weekend and I'm off to Edinburgh for the weekend which should be good!

Hope you all have a great Monday...

Well, there's nothing else left but to just say we are another day closer to our Christmas Seeason!
Ah! That did it! (Or did it??)

Chilly this morning with the temp in the upper 30's just to remind us it is technically still winter.
Sunny, though, and I can hear the birds singing, even through the heavy, sealed windows of my office.

Sorry to hear about the tragic loss for you and your community, Holiday. A similar accident happened here four years ago and it was tough, especially on the teens who were close to the ones who were killed. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Today everyone is Irish. Tomorrow my husband and I will still be Irish and the same can be said for O'Malley the cat.

And if you're a wine drinker, there really is a green wine - it's from Portugal called Vinho Verde (pronounced "Veen-yo Vair-day"). The color is mainly golden-yellow, but it does have a slightly greenish tinge to it.

Speaking of green what's that I see around the old tree near the creek and under the fence - okay well it's a little brown, but it has potential to turn green. Ther's still a blanket of snow on the ground though and a dirty snowbank at the edge of the creek. You can hear the ice cracking and there is some murky water gurgling now.

We're expect snow later this week though. Boohoohoo. I want spring to come so I can take some spring pictures.
