Morning all!
I dont know, I'm away from here for one day and you all go slightly python-crazy 'He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy'
Also like the following scene from the holy grail
BLACK KNIGHT: 'Tis but a scratch.
ARTHUR: A scratch? Your arm's off!
BLACK KNIGHT: No, it isn't.
ARTHUR: Well, what's that then?
BLACK KNIGHT: I've had worse.
ARTHUR: You liar!
BLACK KNIGHT: Come on you pansy!
[hah]
[parry thrust]
[ARTHUR chops the BLACK KNIGHT's right arm off]
ARTHUR: Victory is mine!
[kneeling]
We thank thee Lord, that in thy merc-
[hah]
BLACK KNIGHT: Come on then.
ARTHUR: What?
BLACK KNIGHT: Have at you!
ARTHUR: You are indeed brave, Sir knight, but the fight is mine.
BLACK KNIGHT: Oh, had enough, eh?
ARTHUR: Look, you stupid bastard, you've got no arms left.
BLACK KNIGHT: Yes I have.
ARTHUR: Look!
BLACK KNIGHT: Just a flesh wound.
[bang]
ARTHUR: Look, stop that.
BLACK KNIGHT: Chicken! Chicken!
ARTHUR: Look, I'll have your leg. Right!
[whop]
BLACK KNIGHT: Right, I'll do you for that!
ARTHUR: You'll what?
BLACK KNIGHT: Come 'ere!
ARTHUR: What are you going to do, bleed on me?
BLACK KNIGHT: I'm invincible!
ARTHUR: You're a loony.
BLACK KNIGHT: The Black Knight always triumphs!
Have at you! Come on then.
[whop]
[ARTHUR chops the BLACK KNIGHT's other leg off]
BLACK KNIGHT: All right; we'll call it a draw.
ARTHUR: Come, Patsy.
BLACK KNIGHT: Oh, oh, I see, running away then. You yellow
b******s! Come back here and take what's coming to you.
I'll bite your legs off!Pure geius.
Anyhoo, hope you all have a great Thursday, I'm off to Edinburgh tomorrow morning for the weekend, should be good!

I don't know about the eggnog but they've sure been in something when they should have been in bed.
Nothing like a good night's sleep to soothe the frenetic soul.
Sadly, they undo it all with that coffee stuff!
I'll retire to Bedlam (if the mattresses are soft, that is.)
Do I sense another opera is immenent (or emminent. Or both)?
Of course. As long as our resident author has been properly fortified with the great bean.
And maybe a quiet corner room at the Shispering Pines Motel to think. Don't forget the fired twinkies to help get the coffee down. (Wait, what am I saying?? They never need help getting the coffee down. That would be like me needing help to figure out how to pull down the sheets).
<< OK, Crown, enough with that. Get on with the count! >>
Oh, right. Sorry.
Days to the Season: 238
Days to Christmas Day 280
It was 55 for the morning commute but with clouds and wind, it felt more like 40. Close to freezing temps are predicted for tonight. At least it puts the pollen fall on pause.

Good Morning All! A chilly first day of Spring here. Woke up to temps. in the mid 20's...the hi is suppose to be 44. Got a little rain/snow last night. Enough to make the walkway slick. I plan to go to my sister in laws on Sunday for Easter dinner. They will have the local egg hunt at the city park on Saturday (weather pending of course)So I hope to take Larissa to it. Since my daughters school doesn't get a "Spring Break" they get an early out today at 1:30 and no school on Friday or Monday. I tell ya these teachers plan it out right. They won't have to deal with kids all sugared up from Easter...*L* Well I hope everyone has a great day. Also, wanted to say hello to clarebear...hope all is well with you?

Thirty-seven for the commute this morninig - a bit chillier than was predicted.
Lots of sun, though, and highs in the 60's are in the works.
Nice walking weather.
We are celebrating my older niece's 17th birthday this weekend.
She is starting her first job - working part time for Chick-Fil-A. She's also been getting college recruitment letters and wants to go to UNC-Chapel Hill.
Time gets away so fast! Seem like barely last week she was sitting on my lap while I read to her.
Have a Fabulous Friday, Fantastic Friends!

THE OPERA ( Part XXVIII) ( cause I love you guys..)
Act One: Setting The Shispering Pines Motel/ Coffee Shop/Banjo Repair Shop
Curtains open to reveal the Shispeing Pines Coffee Shop. Binger enters and is giddy beyond belief and sings a beautiful aria entitled.." Ode to the Blend of The Day.." Cedar enters and pours them a cup of coffee while adjusting her Dusty Wig/ She then stands on top of the counter and sings the aria " Ohhh what a beautiful morning.. ohh what a look of love....is the Shispering Pines Coffee Shop..."- Sila sings the world shortest opera with two words..
" Merry Christmas.." Maureen is seen in the background huddled over a sewing machine singing an aria " ode to the plaid tablecloth.." Jay enters and dances a paus du lux entitled
" Fix my banjo please.." There is obviously great joy and happiness, especially when Auntie enters from the back room and announces in aria that as chef she is placing Fired Twinkies as the special of the day.." The house lights go up and every one breaks into a paus du lux entitled " Sugar: Body's natural substitute for diabetes.." ( end Act One).
Act Two: Opens again with the Shispering Pines Coffee shop. Binger is seen still sitting at the bar with 100's of coffee cups around them. The beautiful singer Cedar is seen making shakes as she fixes her Dusty Wig and singing the aria " Ode to Aqua Net.." Annette enters and asks via aria if her banjo can be fixed in order to wear it as an Easter Bonnet. Just as Jay prepares to dance a paus du lux with new partner dom.. Crown enters ( lights dim, children scream, women get up and run out of audience.. fog rolls in, rain begins pelting the audience... Dusty wig goes limp... coffee goes cold.. paus du lux stops dead.. funeral dirge begins palying) and announces in broken aria that they have used their life savings that once padded their mattress to buy the Shispering Pines complex and thus, they are closing the Coffee Shop/Banjo Repair Shop inorder to expand.. what else, the bedrooms in order that they might sleep in a different room each morning/noon/night. Lights dim as Binger is seen screaming in pain as a "closed sign" is placed on the coffee urn. ( end Act Two).
Act Three:
Opens with the former patrons of the Shispering Pines complex sitting on the curb outside playing the "Look for a License Plate from Idaho.." game ( except for Binger who is curled in a ball going into withdrawl). Cedar's wig is limp from lack of Aqua net. Auntie tries to cheer everyone up with a batch of Fired Twinkies but no one is interested. Crown enters and sings an aria entitled " Ode to a Bulldozer who is going to expand my bedroom capacities.." The crowd all boo and begin throwing fired twinkies at them. Everyone simultaneously gets up and dance a paus du lux entitled "Ode to a collapsing real estate market.." However, the fired twinkies begin falling into a special pattern and everyone realizes the opportunity at hand. A giant " we can do it poster" falls from the sky as a backdrop.. ( end Act Three)
Act Four: ( finale)
Opens with a NEW Shispering Pines Coffee Shop/ Banjo Repair/ Paus Du Lux teaching studio, built entirely out of Fired Twinkies. Binger is seen singing the aria " Who needs a Motel.. or sleep.. or food for that matter... JAVA is the nectar of life..." Cedar is seen spraying Aqua Net and reviving the Dusty Wig while singing " Ode to Billy Joe..." The patrons all gather around her and sing along even Maureen who is seen huddled over a world map while humming the aria "Tomorrow: I'll slip cover Canada in plaid and continue my world domination.." Jay is seen teaching a paus du lux with students slg/rena/iron eagle/ gracie/momaduke/holiday entitled " New York Politics: Dysfunction or just Plain Nuts.." the curtain closes as the crowd all take turns prank calling Crown's room and singing an aria entitled" Your mattress has ben recalleed due to entyozymenes.."
as the curtain closes... everyone breaks into the Monty Python Dead parrot sketch...
end..

Addendum: Opera.. part Twenty Eight ( act 4 addendum)
Radio jond rops from the ceiling and announces that they have found an old radio program full of great Artie Shaw music. They begin playing it and Jayish breaks into a paus du lux that makes everyone cry when in one of the most moving moments ever in Operatic History, Crown realizes that the Shispering Pines is full of great art. They halt the destruction and join in the building of the Shispering Pines Coffee Shop, Dance Studio, and Sushi bar.
end....
Awww, thanks. I feel so much better!
And now I know what was missing - the line I looked forward to in all the previous chapters: ".....in one of the most moving moments ever......"
It just wouldn't be the same without that part!

Morning all!
Hope you all had a fantastic Easter weekend, and you didnt miss me too much ;-) Anyhoo, I had a great time up in Edinburgh on a stag weekend, or as our friends across the pond call it a bachelor party... Really tiring though, as we were up at silly o'clock in the morning to catch the first plane of the day on Friday. Was a great weekend, but the stag didnt really like being dressed up as a woman on the Friday night!
Anyhoo, I hope you all have a great Tuesday!

Oh, well. Carrying on:
Days to the Season: 231
Days to Christmas Day 273
Fifty-one for the morning commute. Sunny with warm weather predicted - and the pine pollen is falling in earnest.
Shocking occurrence yesterday!
Was driving home to my condo when I saw lines of cars parked along my street (usually no one parks there). Then I saw the TV news trucks, then the fire trucks, then the smoke! The apartment building (12 units) next to my condo complex had burned down! For a split second as I rounded the curve, I thought it was my building (they look very similar).
No one hurt fortunately, but 29 people burned out of their homes. No cause determination yet but it looks like it started outside on the lawn (on pine straw) and spread to the building.
You just never know.
Have a Thrilling Thursday, folks.

I have a Ford Focus right now but when I got it I needed something that had lots of room and got good gas mileage. Boy, I hear you about the cars. My favorite car was a 1974 Lincoln Continental, four doors (alas, not the suicide doors). I bought that car for about $700 and I took it literally four-wheeling taking pictures high in the Wasatch mountains every summer. You breathe on the accelerator and the front end of that car would rise and that thing would just float....

I've never really been active in this thread, but a discussion about big, old cars is sure to drag me in.
I used to have a '96 Caprice with an LT1. 330 lb/ft of torque at 2500rpm in a 4300lb car can be a lot of fun. I had to let it go because it was just too tired and beat up (retired Cook Co. sheriff's car) for me to want to keep it, but I'd love to have another one some day.
My fun car right now is a '79 Malibu... not so big, but full perimeter frame and rear wheel drive with a little work under the hood.
By the way... did you guys know that Ford is pulling the plug on the old Panther cars (Crown Vic, Grand Marquis)? End of an era, for sure.

well well.. post #700 for me..... I'd once again like to thank the little people.. especially the wee wee littlest of them all... Crown... and to Cedar...who inspires me to spike up my hair...and to the academy and to Don King..... and to dancers everywhere..and to Radio Jon... and let's not forget jerry lewis...
But most of all, Bing would like to thank all the little beans from Maxwell House, Folgers, Tasters Choice.........without whom none of it would be possible.
CONGRATULATIONS ON # 700!

Days to the Season: 226
Days to Christmas Day 268
Another dreary, wet, dark day. But exciting, as our drought slowly disappears!
It was 61 for the morning commute, as I dodged the puddles in the road.
Oh! An early head's up!
We are off to the coast to see how our cottage fared during the winter and to begin getting it ready for the rental season so I will need a countdown volunteer for Saturday and Sunday.
Any takers? (Your rare opportunity for fame and fortune!)
<< Oh, come on, Crown! >>
Well gee, I have to make it sound interesting, don't I?
Have a Terrific Tuesday, my Christmas Compatriots!

Crown, I'd be honored to do the countdown for you on the weekend...but I don't know that I'm worthy as I've only been here this year...while there are some others who've been here for a few years.
Anyone who loves Christmas and our countdown is worthy!

I´m driving everyone nuts .. because of the bad weather I´m trying some new christmas craft ideas.. so little fimo gingerbreadmen in the oven and a lot of ideas for christmas cards in the printer...:elf:.. and I even discovered a medium with which you can put napkins on china ... I discovered it also works for christmas things printed out on thin paper... just apply a little layer of the transfer medium and bake it in the oven and it´s dishwasher safe.. I´m REALLY considering making my own christmas china this year... soo much to do and april already ;-)

cheesy And I enjoyed my last Eggnog only 48 days ago, how come it seems so much longer longer longer even longer than that?
Okay so it rained two days in a row and then we got more snow  I'm on the search for my first Spring Robin sighting (or hearing). I see some grass here and there, but this morning on the way to work the light blanket of snow glistened under the street lights like it was Fall instead of Spring.
Today was day 10 of working without a day to relax and unwind (or shop) and since it was "hump day", we bought Ice Cream for everyone at work to have on their breaks and chocolate football eggs for the coffee room.
Two days to go and the weekend will be here. I can do it! Yes, I can!
I am my own best cheerleader.
Hey, Iron Eagle - this morning after jogging the indoor track whilst listening to my MP3 player tunes, I cooled down with Kenny Loggins "Celebrate Me Home". Thought of you and thought of Christmas and I'll tell you that propelled me through the day better than the thoughtful gesture of a fudgicle made with splenda.
Festive Cheers Christmas Lovers,

Morning all,
Happy Thursday! Well, it would be except I have the dentist this morning, and I have a slight irrational fear of the dentist! (all stems from a biking accident I had as a kid, when I knocked some teeth out etc etc) so yeah, will be pleased when thats all done! Stupid thing is, my mum works at the dentist, and my dentist is also a pretty cool guy but I just hate going there with a passion! Grrr.
Anyway, enough moaning from me! The sun is shining, its nice and warm (for April) and our house is almost finished on the inside! The caprenter finished up yesterday, the kitchen floor tiles were finished yesterday, all we're waiting on now is new carpets for the stairs and all rooms upstairs! Then comes the fun stuff of working outside in the fresh air! Can't wait!!
Anyway folks, the weekend is but a stones throw away, which means we are nearly another week closer to the season! :-)
Anyhoo, catch you all on the flip side..

Scoobie, I'm the same way about dentists. I'm sort of getting over my fear since I've had a few things done. But I still get nervous when I go there. I just had to go to a specialist who is going to redo one root canal. It's going to be $325. And that's with insurance. I sure hope he doesn't have to do anything else with my teeth.

Days to Christmas Day 266
Good Morning, one and all!
It's bit overcast with the chance of rain, but at 50 degrees, not too bad a start for an early April morning.
It's interesting. When the temp is chilly, the pollen just seems to mostly blow right off the car as I drive.
On the other hand, when it's warm, it sticks right there and won't move. You have to wash it (which is currently illegal in Raleigh owing to drought-related water restrictions) or you have to use on of those California Car Dusters, which do a fairly good job on pollen. It's better on standard dust.
(I envy people who own yellow cars this time of year!)
Anyway, have a Thrilling Thursday, fellow travelers.
We are looking forward to our trip to the coast tomorrow afternoon.

:hello: Helloooooooo Cedar (et al) This Aunster is a sleepy Aunster. Been along twelve and busy days of work. I'm going to sleep in tomorrow. Thankfully, the Spin Class starts at 9 am on Saturdays instead of the usual 6 am. I guess I wouldn't have been as tired if I had skipped my morning work outs, but then again, I wouldn't have had the extra oxygen required to think by mid-afternoon.
I got the giggles yesterday and today was silly rhyming solo lounge-lizard-medley-of-Christmas-like tunes to stay alert.
I had several external meetings to attend in the afternoons the last three days and I managed to keep those jingles in my head.
cheesy Other than that, I'm fine. Looking forward to shopping tomorrow. I was going to start buying Christmas gifts, but I need a few new things for my spring wardrobe so I might wait - but if I see something that I know will be perfect under the tree, I'll grab it.
Note to self: Get more Scotch Tape.

No sight or sound from my Spring Robin yet, but I heard a Mallard in the creek this morning. He scared O'Malley. He'll get used to it and won't be scared soon.
Oh where or where could my robin be oh where oh where could he be?
Went shopping today, but I didn't buy any Christmas presents, I bought Spring things for the grandkids instead.

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y273/AuntieMistletoe/bird61.gif I haven't seen him, but I hear my Robin this morning.
"He rocks in the tree-top all a day long
Hoppin' and a-boppin' and a-singin' the song
All the little birds on J-Bird St.
Love to hear the robin goin' tweet tweet tweet
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Rockin' robin (tweet tweet tweet)
Oh rockin' robin well you really gonna rock tonight"
*****
"When the red, red robin comes bob, bob, bobbin' along, along
There'll be no more sobbin' when he starts throbbin' his old sweet song
Wake up, wake up you sleepy head
Get up, get out of your bed
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red
Live, love, laugh and be happy"
****
Spring has officially arrived in my neck of the woods. Yesterday, when I was coming back from the nearest Mall, I could smell wet earth and doggy-doo everywhere.
I'm going shopping again today, I need a few Spring/Summer business-type outfits.
What's that O'Malley? Yes, I can pick you up a treat.
Have a fabulous Sunday!

Yeah, remember that time Crown was hauled off by security for sleeping in a display bed at the furniture store in the Crabtree mall? I'm surprised they let Crown shop there with all those temptations.

Where oh where did the weekend go??? What a beautiful weekend it was! I can't believe how fast it went & I can't believe tomorrow is Monday already! We spent our 1st weekend for the season out at the lake this weekend. Had a super time & it was great to see all our neighbors again. Had a cook out there tonight with my family...my hubby was the master griller...marinated pork chops, marinated chicken breasts, skirt steaks, pepper bratts...what a feast! I'm so glad this was only the 1st weekend out there for the year & hopefully there are many more just like it (only even warmer) to come!! :D The guys at the marina started putting pontoons back in the water today too....YIPPEEEE!! :???: Hope you all had a great weekend!!
Oh yeah...I tried a new recipe today that was a HUGE hit....give it a try sometime! It's from a dinner club in Dayton Ohio, famous for their sweet potato souffle, only this is their pineapple souffle! It was delish:

Ah! The bad part was getting them to enter "Gender Indeterminate" on the arrest record.
Good Morning!!
Crown is back------with a confession.
At the last moment, reports of bad weather for Saturday caused us to cancel our travel plans.
As a result << Crown looks down with hat in hand >> I decided to take the weekend off from board duties and return to lurker status! As such, I kept up with the goings on incognito. A little sabbatical, as it was.
(Ahem, and also got in a bit more sleep as a result!)
Dom, my friend! Thanks for a bang-up job as pinch hitter. Home runs on back to back days. You can't beat that!
Days to the Season: 220
Days to Christmas Day: 262
And on we go! Now, less than 3 weeks to the 200-day season window.
And the 1/3 Christmas Day mark is the day before that, as our friend Dom earlier pointed out.
Sure enough, Saturday was a wash out. Sunday was cloudy and wet but little rain actually fell.
Still very overcast and threatening this morning.
HOWEVER, our lake levels are now back to normal and water restrictions are back to "stage 1".
(Interestingly, our governor has stated he wants to permanently keep stage 1 restrictions despite no drought! Go figure that one out.)
Have a Marvelous Monday, guys!

Morning everyone! About 27 out right now. Looks as if we may get some rain later. Although the weatherman keeps predicting it we still haven't gotten any. Got a busy week ahead of me with work. I hope everyone has a good day.
