A beautiful day here again today with sunshine & temps in the high 50's. Fantastic day to get work done around the outside of the house.
Counting down the days until we are able to go to the casino for the evening, 8 days & counting. Will feel nice to get away for the night & have some fun.

Well, today the song popped into my ears via MP3 Player during my cardio work out. I actually listened to the lyrics and said, "what are they singing about?" I guess it's old news, but I missed it. I checked it out and sure enough Snopes.com says the lyrics are based on a sad event in '79.

Morning all...Woke up to about 2 inches of the white stuff today. Looks as if we may get rain this afternoon. So I'm sure it won't stick around for long. The birds have gone into hidding...I hear no chirping outside today. I have a luncheon to attend this afternoon with a few other ladies who have also volunteered their time at the local Hospice. Looking forward to a nice lunch and some chit-chat with everyone. I hope everyone has a great day!

Good day everyone. Beautiful day here today... about 55 out. Hit the local Catholic yard sale this morning. Got a few new ornaments. Then I went to go and see my brother in the next town over. We had lunch together and then I went to the thrift stores. Found a lovely silver platter made my wm rogers. Paid only 3 bucks for it so I think I may have scored. I think the term to describe THEM is lazy!! They also don't have the fun of decorating for the season each year. Granted, there are a few strong words used and the vow "Never again" but it gets done every year and deep down, it's enjoyed!!!

Every year I say.. that's it.. not next year- or condo party has stopped anyway.. and that was one of the main reasons why I decorated)- but each year, I drag it all out ofthe basement, up the stairs, and put it all out, and I marvel at some of the decorations that were mine when I was a child.. and I am then glad that I did it.

I woke up to a raging, blinding blizzard...no kidding, the kind where you can't see your own hand in front of you. With all the trimmings too, wind chill, fierce wind, ice pellets the size of small rocks hitting the face. OMG...why do I live here?

On the lighter side of it, all this @#*@!! precipation is bringing the Great Lakes up to a normal level again...which means fun in the sun later this summer!!

Dancing Boy reporting for duty!

We had a gorgeous day yesterday, I even put the air conditioning on in the car in the afternoon...Today is chilly and cloudy but still springlike! My wife is changing the curtains today to the spring/summer ones...I always hate to see the winter ones go...They are this great deep maroon color that makes me feel like royalty...Now we have these wispy brown ones...She loves them so I guess I can live with them too...But only till late October when mine come back out!!!

I have to say...the weeks are flying by...We'll be carving pumpkins in no time!

Good Sunday evening!! What an icky weekend! Cold, Rainy, Windy, UGH! I didn't see any snow, but apparently we had some early this morning! I heard them say on the news this morning that today would be a good day to use your fireplace! I thought about turning ours on one last time & then decided NAH! I'm DONE with that! Despite the weather, it was a super weekend! Got together with an old friend last night we haven't seen in over a year (due to a divorce) & it was so, so great to see him again. Stayed up shooting the breeze till 5 AM! What were we thinking? Haven't done that for a long time. I should have stayed up to watch the sunrise, but couldn't do it! So, I'm a little sleepy tonight, but it was well worth it! I'm sure Crown got enough sleep for all of us! ;-) I can't believe tomorrow is Monday again! Why do the weekends always go so fast?? Lol! We went to a friends house tonight & when we were leaving their son was asking them to put in The Santa Clause 3 dvd!! I told them I was staying if that was the case!!! Good kid! :smile: Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend!

Hi AUNTSTER! I LOVE that dancing diva!

Just wanted to update you on the Shispering Pines Inn and Sushi Bar. They had to close temporarily because the ENTIRE STAFF got sick with Acute Sinusitis after cleaning Crown's room, which was FULL of Yellow Pollen and Mold Spores. They had to fumicate the room and burn the mattress and pillows. In the future, a ZYRTEC D tablet will be pushed into every "Coffee cake wheat germ muffin", a 'Shispering Pines Speciality.' I'm too young for polyester - personally I think everyone is too young for polyester.

Another beautiful sunny day here in the Blue Sky region of Ontario. It's about 42 F outside, a little cooler inside. We've turned off the heat. Yippee! That's a good sign.

The birds are a pleasure to wake up to in the morning, I'm a morning person so they don't keep me awake, we keep the same hours. Although sometimes I go to bed and they're still chirping their goodnight songs.

Canada geese have invaded the city for the next six months. The seagulls think they're gonna partake in a picnic soon, but it's not that warm yet and the ground is too damp and dirty.

O'Malley the cat has been enjoying his bird watching, but still runs for cover whenever the geese are honking nearby.

Yesterday, I heard a woodpecker, but I didn't see him. We get Downey Woodpeckers around here, but they're seen more often in cottage country than in dwellings along the creek.

The water has been rushing last week, no flooding this year. Whew!

No definate plans for the grill this weekend, but we are heading to the lake, so I'm sure it will get fired up at least once! :smile: I'm glad you mentioned ribs b/c we have a whole box of ribs in my parents freezer (we were out of room in ours!) Our friend is a truck driver & he brought us around 30 lbs. of ribs....we should make some of them soon!! We learned a new trick over the holidays...boil them in apple juice (instead of water) before you grill them! :thumbsup:

It's Saturday (as Maureen states the obvious). Glorious day in downtown Perthshire. Windows wide open and sheets blow drying in the wind (not in the living room, I hasten to add) The boys have been for a long walk and are now skinning a fuzz covered monkey and elephant respectively.

We too are planning on firing up the BBQ - quite fancy a 2" thick ribeye, which a good vet could revive. An acceptable start to my week long vacation!!!!!!! Yay me!!!!!!!!! Friends arriving from Montreal on Monday so I SUPPOSE I'd better look like I'm trying and vacuum around a bit

:hello: Reach a beautiful 76 here yesterday afternoon, the temps dropped to about 36 overnight - made for chilly need covers kind of morning.

It's about 64 F right now, hoping for another day like yesterday.

Finished a two-hour spin cycle marathon to Kenya and back as a fundraiser.

Yabba-dabba-di-yi-ay-ay and an ouchy-wah-wah too! Expect I'll be pushing Crown out of bed for an afternoon doze. Can't nap now, my internal motor is still running. Feels like I've had two pots of coffee. Anyone around here relate to that feeling? Anyone?

Three birds and a squirrel have been fighting over the tree outside the kitchen window. The squirrel was there all winter. Yesterday a bird was sort of walking up the tree when the squirrel stuck his head out and made that high pitched crow sounding chattery-shriek, the bird flew away.

This morning my robin was perched on a broken limb (from the Microburst two years ago) and I'm cheering for him, but I'm sure he would be safer in the pine trees across the creek.

Good evening! It's hard to believe it's Sunday evening again already! Was a much nicer weekend than expected. The sun peaked it's head out a few times yesterday, but it was mostly cloudy...was supposed to rain all day, but we only got a couple sprinkles. Today was cooler (not even 60) & cloudy ~ it rained this morning, but by this afternoon we were hanging out around a bonfire. Was a good weekend!

After reading about all this grilling out, I am now hungry! I am going to fire up the grill & make a pizza on it! (I love to make pizza on the grill...) The only grilling we did over the weekend is we tried my BIL's new Jalapeno Cheese Franks & boy were they yummy!! I am going to have to get some more of those!

Morning!!! Day 2 of "I'm on holiday" week and today we're going monster hunting to Loch Ness - you may have heard of it!!

That's the one thing about having visitors - it spurs you into seeing things that you would normally not bother doing because you aren't a tourist yourself. Tomorrow we are going to Edinburgh Castle and on a ghost walk, then Thursday we are going to St Andrews to run along the beach and pretend we are in Chariots of Fire, then Friday - another couple of castles a) Glamis where the Queen Mother was born and b) Doune Castle where they filmed Monty Python and the Holy Grail. That one also has the pull of a REALLY good pub nearby!!!

Good Morning All...
Had a busy day yesteday. Minus the darn winds here... I managed to get the whole back yard at my place cleaned up and stacked about 3 cords of wood for next winter. Or even possibly this year to burn since our weather has been so up and down. The hi today looks as if it may be 54 and tomorrow 45. Sounds as if you have been busy planting MMD. Wish I could say the same for planting but with this weather so crazy I hate to plant anything right now in fear it may freeze overnight. I do hope if time allows to plant a few things. But not much since we will be busy adding onto our home. My neighbor Jim asked me yesterday evening if I wanted to dig up a few of his poppy's to plant this year. He has a ton literally all over his yard. So I just may take him up on his offer. I think they are really pretty. I also have some irises I need to replant from the back yard (where construction will begin before to long) to another spot in the yard. I hope everyone enjoys their day. I am off to make lunches...take little one to school and head to work myself.

cheesy I reallllly want that for Christmas this year. I heard the DVD version wasn't as good and then when they were coming out with an Anniversary edition it was supposed to include some of the scenes that were cut from the orginal.

Good Morning Dom and Ms.Deb..we had a thunderstorm last night and got a good soaking, the rain stopped before the sunrise and now the sun is out. Supposed to be 80 and muggy!

I can't believe it but by Monday it's predicted that we will only have a high of 46º & a low of 36º!!! NOOOOOOOO!!! I am lovin this 75º weather! We slept w/ the windows open all night last night & never got too cold! That's my kind of weather!!! Darn.....

Anybody have big plans for the weekend? We're heading to the lake tonight & tomorrow night is one of my best friends bachellorette party, so that should be a great time! We're taking a bus bar hopping around the lake! My hubby's going to the bachelor party...they are going to sit in a guys shop & play cards (how boring...lol...I'm so glad I get to go with the girls on the bus!! hee heee hee)

Yes was having fun playing in the garden until we found out they are calling for snow next week so will not plant anymore for awhile here.

CHARIOTS OF FIRE.. beat my all time FAVORITE movie REDS for best picture back in 1982.. and I swore I would one day find the artist Vangellis and one day make them wear a horrific plaid... OMG... what a horrible horrible movie... but REDS.. OMG.. that scene where Louise Bryant is waiting for Jack Reed at the train station in Moscow.. she has walked across Russia to get to him.. he is disgusted at the Russian Revolution and what has happened.... the train is attacked while enroute home from Baku... he does not know that Louise is waiting for him- he thinks she has left him and has taken up with the great playwright Eugene O Neil- the train has been attacked and she thinks he is dead..she can not find him getting off the train...and as she turns around.. he is there staring at her.. and the music soflty plays as they stumble towards eachh other... OMG.. the passion.. the passion.......... ohhhhhh

cheesy What's that I hear outside tonight? The rain. Just crept in about ten minutes ago. Sounds like our first Spring storm is here. Still about 80 miles away, I'm guessing from counting the rolls of thunder, but it's coming.

Good that it's happening at night, should be nice tomorrow, the leaves on the trees and the crocuses and a few other Spring flowers will be popping up too. The grass will be a little greenier and I will soon be saying, "Achooooooooooo".

Survived the week at work! I have this weekend to enjoy while getting a little more cleaning and organizing done because I have another twelve-day work week (I know it's more than one) coming up starting on Monday.

Isn't it exciting that we'll soon be looking at 200 days to the start of the season. I can almost smell Christmas.
