I think I do. I've been extra tired and low on energy. I'm also not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. I think that's it more than anything. It doesn't help to think about taking down decorations over the weekend. It has to happen but it looks so bare for a while.

I was going to start to take ornaments off my tree today. But it is too cold and windy to get in the attic, so I think I will wait till 12th night etc. I think I have a little Christmas let down, but not much. This year I just wasn't in the mood that much, we had so much going on in our family this year, then I was sick with that bronchial stuff and tired. Christmas was on Tues and no one could get in at the same time. But I am already planning for next year. That is sort of how I get thru the after Christmas blahs. Plus I need to get all this 'sugar' out of my system and get my energy back too.

I have been ok so far...but I have been more tired than usual. And going back to work is going to be like pulling teeth...I dread it. But I guess once I get back into the swing of things life will resume back to normal.

I have okay so far, but my husband goes back to work tomorrow, and the kids go back to school Thursday. That is usually when it hits big time. Luckily, I will be working for the first week they are back in school (I am a substitute teacher.) so that should help some.

Aaaaaaahhhh!! The blues are hitting me hard this year! Probably due to having a less than great Christmas... still I keep trying to tell myself I have lots of good things to look forward to this year... moving into new house with my girlfriend at the end of the month, soon to be brother in law's stag weekend in March (weekend in Edinburgh), sisters wedding in May, break to a cottage in Devon after the wedding then we'll almost be at the halfway mark! This first bit is always the hardest, back at work and back to 'normality'

Looking forward to getting to the first milestone in the countdown!

new years eve was a little hard, before i went out with my friends, my boyfriend and i went for a chinese meal, they were playing christmas music and "fairytale of new york" came on which is my most treasured song, i had tears in my eyes (embarrassing, i know!) but i couldn't help it, not many people understand what christmas means to me and it's just so sad that it's all over for another year.

january is always a tough month but i hope so much with the support of you lot i can get through it a bit easier.

OH MY GOSH! OH MY GOSH!!!

IM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS FORUMS AND MET YOU PEOPLE!!! Cuz honestly, its how I feel... I was about to post it here til I read this!!!

Earlier tonight on my way home from work, I text my gf that I was soooo down and depressed that the Christmas season is at an end. You see, Christmas is sooo special to me - Im a family guy and every Christmas season, we have a small reunion with some of my relatives, thus seeing it to an end really puts me down, cuz aside from that, I love the Christmas spirit/feeling.

I told her that the bright side is, I have to wait only 8 months, cuz September here, Christmas is beginning(thru decors mostly).

And yeah, I wish its the 2nd of December too! I love you guys!

I am doing everything in my power to NOT get the after Christmas blues!!! There has to be a way to keep the spirit alive all year round...starting right here!!! :) I feel better already after visiting this site today!!

I posted this on another thread earlier about how I'm trying to NOT get the blues:
It was back to work for me today - I had 11 days off (and it was completely wonderful!!) & I think it is harder to come back after 11 days of hanging out at home, coming, going, people stopping over, eating, drinking, being merry, late nights, pretty much doing whatever we want, no schedule, etc. than it is to come back after going away on vacation!! But I am hoping to have the days between the holidays off again next year. I totally enjoyed it!! I went to Ben Franklin over the weekend & bought a bunch of snowmen 50% off to put up when I take down my decorations, & I bought some lighted garland (white/clear lights) for $2.50 to put up on the mantle or around our banister. Though I am not looking forward to taking my Chrsitmas stuff down, I am looking forward to getting my snowmen & clear lights out! I also bought 6 Christmas dvd's at the grocery store - they were $1.99 each & most of them have 2 Christmas movies on them! They are all movies I have never seen (or heard of) before, but they sound really good. I think most of them are older movies. I am grabbing at anything that will help keep my Christmas spirit alive!! Thanks to this wonderful webiste I don't think it will be all that hard to do!!

I've got the blues and it's post-Christmas but for once I don't think they are completely related. This year I didn't hear from someone very special to me and I'm trying to hang on to the holiday as long as I can just in case this particular "gift" is late. It's getting harder and harder to do so.

I need to take down the tree and pack things away for safekeeping, but I just don't have the heart to do it. I will get it all done this weekend do or die...or do while I want to die...

This is a bad case, since after Christmas sales and planning for next year haven't done a thing to pull me out of it.

I'm so glad I have you folks here!

:-?My blues, as I stated in another post, started on Christmas night. I just know that I missed most of the season being to busy. I missed being with my kids many times when I should have been with them. Life is to precious to let other things come in between you and your precious angels. I wish i could have one more month with them to do it right, and focus on the right things.

Hmmmm not quite sure if my christmas blues are getting better or worse?! We have snow forecast for today, so that will help lift my spirits if it does! (fingers crossed!) Also been planning the decorations for my new house, and seeking out suppliers of lights etc... maybe when I get to the weekend, they will pass a little!

Anybody got any ideas on how to help with the Christmas blues? Maybe we should start a new thread on how to cope with them? cheesy

Thanks a bunch Holiday. It revolves around one of those military jobs that sends folks hither and yon and keeps them from getting regular mail because of all the movement. The blues started kicking in when I got a surprise "stop mail" notice just before Thanksgiving. It really bummed me out that I couldn't share Christmas with my friend. His presents are still boxed for mailing and sitting under my tree. I have no clue what to do except wait. How do those Army families maintain under such conditions?

I'm sending warm wishes your way Martha!!!

I just read about a guy in Iowa who spent his Christmas Eve stuck in his own septic tank...I guess my little family troubles were not that bad afterall!!!

I got the blues though...Happens every year...Most of the time it passes...Just a case of E.O.C.D.

End of Christmas disorder...

mine always start on christmas night, surely this is not normal? how do we cope with them?

What I do from last year(which helped a bit), is that every 25th of the month(or 24), I listen to a whole Christmas album, or atleast listen to some songs while driving. It surely reduces the stress and depression. I also watch Christmas movies or read Christmas articles online, listen to some Christmas MIDIs...

Now that I found this forums, Ill surely post here with people of kindred spirits as mine. Its not normal for most people, but for me, it shows how loving we type are really are.

I don't know how military families do it...makes me so thankful for them that they do! It has to be so hard!!!

JOHNOR - my Christmas blues also start on Christmas, late afternoon/evening. :(

Now that sounds like a great idea!!! I think I shall try that! I might even try to cook a roast turkey on the 25th of each month too! (left over turkey sandwiches.. YUM!!)

I guess you could say that I as well have a touch of the "After Christmas" blues. I took down all my outdoor lights and decorations yesterday. I feel like a Scrooge for doing so, but I do know that they have to come down.

The things that help tide me over to next Christmas.....

1. I still have a few Christmas items out to look at from time to time.

2. There is this wonderful website and all you good people to share our passion of Christmas all year.

3. I have recorded Christmas themed TV shows on tape or DVD to watch through out the year.

With these 3 mentioned items, Christmas 2008 will be here in a flash!

Glad you like the idea. It really helped me last year. Last year really struck me the hardest, cuz there was this BIG family reunion from relatives around the world, and we havent done it for 5 years. So when everyone left, I was so down.

Dvdguy and I were feeling a little sluggish too, but it turned out that we were sick. Darned cold caught us both off guard. We're both better now. In a weird way, it helped us get past the "after Christmas blues".

I have decided to let my Christmas decorations up until Tuesday....the neighbors are probably laughing, but I just don't care! ;-) I was going to take them down today, but I'm having a good day & I thought why ruin my day off work by doing something I really don't want to do???? Lol! I went out this afternoon & bought some silver & purple beads/garland, some blue, purple, silver, & white bulbs (tree ornaments) & some sparlky silver things (I'm not sure how to explain them, but they are on a stick & they fan out - I thought they would be cute to put on the mantle around my snowmen) so now I am very excited to decorate for winter...yesterday I bought some clear lights (on a white cord) to put down on the entertainment center, on top of the "snow" & I'll set some snowmen & silver & blue or purple bulbs arounds. I sure I hope I know what I'm getting in too!!! Should be fun!! I hope it turns out!!! Does anybody else decorate for winter?

yuck, i have them bad today! i think what is getting to me is my career, it is not going in the direction that it should, i teach drama and i am a trained actress but i cannot find any representation (an agent) also you have to invest alot of money in yourself and at the moment i cannot afford it. i am only 22 (23 next month - nooooooo!) i am sure if i stay focused and don't give up i will get there. it's just that i believe you only get one life and you should do what makes you happy and drama/acting makes me happy, i cannot imagine doing anything else with the rest of my life. let's hope i make some progress in 2008!

That actually made me smile. As weird others may think we are, we are the special breed. Here in the Philippines, a lot of Christmas decors are still out, even the city hall of my area still got them!

Yes, dont give up. I saw a lot of interviews by actors and actresses, most of their advice is never give up. Keep trying. Go to auditions and whatnot. Others get their big break sooner, others later. Just dont give up! Persevere!

Good luck and have an Advanced Merry Christmas!

I am sitting here thinking today how my Christmas blues just haven't set in yet this year. I was a little sad on Christmas day & I was sad on Jan. 2nd when I had to go back to work after being off for 11 days, & I was sad last night knowing I had to go back to work this morning & work a FULL WEEK (lol) & it's the long haul of January/February....but I think making this Chrsitmas scrap book is really helping me this year & also planning to put out snowmen/winter decorations has me really excited! Tonight my Buckeyes play in the national championship game & we have people coming over to watch it & tomorrow I'll take down my decs & start to decorate for winter. I'm affraid when that is all done, I might start to get a little blue, but I hope not!! There are plenty of things to look forward too!!

Update - I've got the blues tonight!! :-( It has been so warm here the last 2 days (70) & tonight I have my Christmas music on & I took down my tree & I'm working on taking down the decorations! The Buckeyes played a horrible game last night, so we're bummed about that too! I'm trying to put up my winter decorations, but it's a little hard to get in the mood when it's so warm outside! Lol!! This is the 1st full week of work I have had for awhile (with the holidays in there) & I am bummed about that too! Last night was our last planned "party" to look forward too for awhile! Oh well...It will be better in the mornin!! It's just been a rainy, dreary day here today...I've got the blahs! Just "one of them nights"...

Awww Holiday, you have got it bad today! We're one step closer to the weekend, and one step closer to the season which means we're one step closer to the big day!

January and February to seem to be the most depressing months of the year though, lots of illnesses about too which seem to strike you when you're down!

I had a wander through our local supermarket yesterday, and they still have some christmas stuff in the sale.... but unfortunately it was all rubbish, so didnt buy anything! ho hum!
