Do you have a traditional New Year Meal on New Year's Day? If you do, what do you normally have?

For us, we usually have sauerkraut and pork with mashed potatoes. It's the German background in us.....BUT...

We're not doing that this year. My daughter heads back to college tomorrow and she asked for brats....a white sausage, also a traditional German food. I'm about to head out to heat up some sauerkraut. I've got to keep part of the tradition going! cheesy

We are having spicy black eyed peas and leftover ham. I think some candied sweet potatoes. I am not doing a usual meal today either. I ususally have Mexican cornbread, but I am not doing that. Just the two of us here this year. and I have got a ton of left over this and that. Even partial ingredients, that I need to make something out of.

That sounds really tasty!!!! We had ribeye steak and garlic mushrooms, which, although isn't traditional, was VERY good!! Scottish tradition is usually steak pie for New Year's Day. My son had one all to himself - glutton!!!!!!
