I've met a few country stars. The most famous people I've met are members of The Osmonds. I've been fortunate to meet each Osmond and lucky enough to spend a little time with a couple of them. I've been a fan for 39 years now.
Here's a picture with my favorite Osmond, Merrill, the lead singer. You'll have to imagine me about 35 pounds lighter, though.

I met President Bush when he was the governor of Texas at a convention one year.
I met Grand Funk Railroad my senior year in high school...they did a reunion tour and the school got them to come to our small town.
I met Tim McGraw....when he first came out with Indian Outlaw and was playing at the malls.
I met a couple of other country stars just can't remember who right this moment.

I met Roy Acuff...an old country western singer

Good topic. I've had a few brushes with fame in my life.
In 1986 I met Mickey Mantle at a trade show. I got an autographed ball from him that I treasure, though truth be told, he played long before my time.
I shared an elevator with Mr. T in Las Vegas. The dude is short -- very elf-like, though I didn't tell him that.
Years ago while going to college I worked about 20 hours a day at a ski resort here in Utah and met Paul Newman. I was running the state liquor store (hired because I was one of the few who wouldn't drink the inventory) when he came in to buy something at the end of a run. He was covered in snow and had on all the regalia associated with skiing and I was coming off one of those really long days and didn't recognize him. I got him what he wanted and he threw a $5 tip in the tipjar. I thanked him and he sort of just stood there for a few minutes getting warm while I said nothing. As he finally got ready to go he looked over at me and said "Thanks for not making a big deal, man". I was perplexed at this odd comment and said "A big deal about what?". He looked at me and smiled and said "About me." I stared him down for half a second and asked, "What's the big deal about you?" He took off his ski cap and looked at me and just laughed. Then I recognized him.
That was also the year I met Bruce Willis, in the exact same spot, in fact. He was way cool and, man, can he play harmonica.
Living in Utah I've also had a number of run-ins with the Osmonds. Each one of them is about as nice as they come.
I sang once with Barry Manilow, listened to Terry Bradshaw at a work gathering (jerk, foul-mouthed), rode on a plane with OJ Simpson (pre-1994), shook hands with Bill Gates, and interviewed Gloria Estefan for an article I wrote when she was with the Miami Sound Machine.
I've met numerous baseball players at major and minor league games. Here in Salt Lake I attended a game with my son with seats near the bullpen and listened to John Lackey pick women out of the crowd he wanted to become friendly with. That made a long conversation with my then 7 year old son.
I've also met a number of politicians, but none I'm too proud to admit meeting.
During the 2002 Winter Olympics here in Salt Lake City I met a number of celebrities. I met Jim Shea before he won his medal and I met Derek Parra after he won his. Meeting the athletes of the Olympics was always a special thrill and I hope I get the opportunity again someday. I nearly ran over Bob Costas at a hotel in downtown Salt Lake during the Olympics (also very short), too.
I once sold about 15 pounds of candy to Lavelle Edwards, legendary former head coach of BYU football. I met Steve Young and Ty Detmer. I met Dale Murphy. I met Mike Weir, he actually lives here locally. Robert Redford once waved in my direction but he's never really had the honor of meeting me.
Oh, and I met Reggie Jackson when I was about 11 when he refused to sign my bat on bat day in Oakland. Joe Rudi, my favorite player at the time, DID sign my bat.
I met Karl Malone (actually got elbowed by him and lived to tell about it). That dude is massive.

I've seen a few famous folks, but have never really "met" any. I have had the honor to meet and talk with well known people associated with my hobbies and profession.
Perhaps some of you are familiar with a magazine called "Monitoring Times" ( http://www.monitoringtimes.com/ ) about all things radio. I've met Bob Grove, the publisher & editor. He is a very warm and nice person.
Last April my wife and I met Tift Merritt ( http://www.tiftmerritt.com/ )at a music festival. She is a very sweet lady with a great voice! She even recorded a Christmas greeting (in April!) for me to use on the annual family CD. She has a new CD coming out next month!
We met Rick Miller, Dave Hartman, and Mary Huff of Southern Culture On the Skids ( www.scots.com ) on March 1, 2008 in Birmingham, AL. They were also kind enough to record Christmas greetings in addition to signing autographs!
As a teenager I got Buford Pusser's autograph as well as Robert Fuller's. Fuller played Dr. Kelly Brackett in TV's "Emergency" back in the Seventies.
And last, but not least, I know many wonderful, famous folks on the MMC Network!

Yes, I've met Kenny several times. I actually have an autographed photo of me with him. I'll try to scan it and post it. It was back when he had more hair. He was very shy and sweet back then.

I have seen quite a number over the years, including then President Ford and former President Carter, Bob Hope, Roy Clark (country-western singer) etc., but the only one I actually met (to speak to) is Jerry Maren, the munchkin who handed Dorothy the lollipop in "The Wizard of Oz". He was at a Christmas show here in Raleigh about 5 years ago signing and selling books.
Maren was nice but the main thing he wanted to talk about was the fact that the little people from the movie don't get residual payments. (I read somewhere that was the deal they made at the time, as no one realized the film would be so popular/make so much money.)

I had the good fortune of living in Los Angeles for about two years. One of my part time jobs while i was there was to do lights and sound at The Comedy Store on Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood. I met a good number of celebrities there...some nice, some not so nice...My three favorites were Richard Pryor (not very healthy at the time but a nice guy and good sport), Martin Lawrence (one of the nicest men I've ever met, very supportive of those on the "crew".) And my all time favorite, Henry Winkler. I was working at a benefit for a local school of somekind and the woman in charge kept telling me that when "Henry" got there we could discuss what he needed as he was the MC of the benefit. I had no idea who she meant. I was going about my work setting lights and microphones and the woman calls me..."Jay!" she says..."I'd like you to meet Henry!" I turn, hand outstreched to meet "Henry" and **** near wet my pants...I'm so NOT cool in situations like this...So I stood there unable to say anything...And he smiled, knew exactly what was happening to me and made me feel very comfortable...What a true gentleman! And then as he's leaving he comes and finds me and thanks me...I was flabbergasted...He is one of Hollywood's true nice guys!

Another cool one I forgot was Jim Carrey. He was doing a benefit for a Viet Nam Veterans group and his wife was the MC. Unfortuneatly, they were slightly on the outs at that point, they have since divorced and there was a bit of a chill backstage. He was friendly but a little subdued and she told me that I looked like him...A little odd...But he was hilarious as you'd imagine and left quickly after he was done. Many people don't know that he is a master impressionist...Along the lines of Rich Little...But he rarely, if ever does them anymore. I miss those days...

funny how some people meets lots of celebrities and other don´t...a friend of a friend of mine flew to london in early 96.....she turned to the side and who was sitting besides her? Brian from the Backstreet Boys...not to say she was almost going crazy inside...she then met all of the boys...including my beloved A.J.....hahaha...they even invited her to come to the Top Of The Pops show....but she said no.....how can You say no.....duuuuuuuh!
as I said before....most famous people I have met are Marion Jones (the famous track star, who is one of the nicest people I have ever met) and in 99 Tatyana Ali...who played Ashley on the Fresh Prince

I don't expect anyone to know who I'm talking about but, I think the most famous person I've ever met was Bowser from Sha-na-na! I used to love him and I went to see him in concert, front row, when I was a kid with a local (local meaning Pittsburgh, Pa.) celebrity, Porky Chedwick. Porky was a DJ for a radio station called WAMO. He just retired at 90! He's moving to Florida and they are talking about starting a Porky's cruise so to all of you people in Florida, you heard it first here!

Was he the bass guy???!! I think more people will recognise him if you add that Sha-na-na were the band in the national dance-off in Grease!!

Yes they were! He was the tall thin one that used to kind of make a muscle and rotate his fist towards his face and then away from his face. He also had a big mouth. He always would hang his mouth open real big while he made a muscle. I guess he was the bass guy. I don't know, he did have a very low voice.

I've met a bunch of the Red Wings (Detroit Red Wings--NHL) but the best was Steve Yzerman about 6 years ago--at TARGET of all places! He was shopping with his daughter and was really nice (met him in one of the toy aisles). When I was leaving he was in the line next to me, and when I went outside I saw that he had parked right next to my car. I told everyone that he was stalking me. :)

I have met The Lettermen and got to sing with them, The Jonas Brothers, America, Tran Siberian Orchestra, and a Rockette. I have gotten to see Michael Douglas film Wonder Boys, saw a bit of filming for a new film starring Julianne Moore, and I was an extra in the upcoming Dreamworks feature, She's Out of My League.
