Elf Billy "White Shoes" Mancini is wearing his white hat over in the Weather Center. And that means just one thing: snow and lots of it.

"We're headed into a classic big time weather event here at the North Pole," Elf Billy said. "It usually gets this bad in February and rarely during the week of Christmas. Snow doesn't get Santa down but this was the last thing he needed."

Santa is an expert sleigh driver. He doesn't mind the snow. He told us in a conference call early this morning that he expects everyone home at the North Pole by the end of the week. As much as he loves Mexico, he said it is no place to launch his sleigh on Christmas Eve.

"Well, from the North Pole everything is south," explained Elf Ed Zachary. "Santa can get anywhere quickly from the North Pole. From Mexico he has to dodge Space Shuttles coming out of Florida, cruise ships on both Gulf coasts and, of course, flying pinata debris. So he wants to come home for the launch."
