Ok, so here we are after a traumatic week and we're finally back home and getting on with life. And we've got a debate on our hands. Should the Westovers take their tree down?

Oldest daughter says yes. Younger kids protest. Parents leaning towards being too tired to care and enjoying the festive-ness it brings to the house.

I'm sure the young ones what to keep the tree up, but you & your wife need to try to get back to a normal life as much as you can right now.

I think you should take it down whenever you feel like it. Personally, I probably would. But if it makes you all feel better to leave it up, then leave it up a little while longer. It's not like it is hurting anyone. One day you will just know it is time to take it down.

It's a tough decision, I know. I voted to take it down for the reason that Debbie stated but what's a few more days? You're all in our prayers.

I voted No...I say compromise keep it up for the ones who still want it up, and take it down after you and your wife get some rest... After the hectic week you have had you will be glad that you didn't jump right in on taking it down. Take some time for yourself..

I would say leave it up until you feel like taking it down. You will know.......after all it is your house, your tree....you can leave it up as long as you feel comfortable. Esp if it brings comfort to you.

I say leave it up, for as long as possible!!!

If I could, I'd have a room dedicated to Christmas all year...With a tree and lights, the whole bit...Maybe someday...

Leave it up!

My thoughts exactly Jay. I too want a room where it can be Christmas year round.

I took my tree down less than an hour ago...how melancholy the room looks now.
I absolutely hate vacuuming up those stray little bits of tinsel when the tree is down and stored away...they are the last little tell tale signs that Christmas was here not too long ago.

I would take it down. As much as I love my tree up, I think keeping it up too long will only make christmas seem like a drag in the long run. And not only that I love the thought of putting it back up again, there's something special in that.

Excuse me,but normal life is running this Crazy, Cool, Christmas site year round. What better candidates to leave their tree up as long as you want to. Leave it up and get some rest. Put some Christmas music on at night, have a glass of wine, and talk about your favorite Christmas memories this year. Then, when you're really ready, take it down.
I agree with some of the others, I can't wait until I can have a full time Christmas room; All of my nick nacks on shelves, different decorations, and perpetual Christams music playing. It will be an escape place in the middle of summer when I "Need A Little Christmas, Right this Very Minute.":tree:

I'm with the "take it down" brigade.

That tree and those decorations were for the last holiday season (figuratively speaking) It's time to file Christmas 2007 into memories and move forward with anticipation to Christmas 2008.

It's a chance to put behind you all that went with the tree last Christmas and look towards a brighter, happier, and altogether different, in so many ways, Festive season this year.

Take it down and start afresh the plans and preparations

Just my opinion:cry:!!

I vote for leaving it up for a little while. According to old Christian tradition the Christmas season ends with the presentation of the child Jesus in the temple, an event celebrated on Feb, 2 and also known as Candlemas. This is when all the greens would be removed from the house. We have put away about one half of our inside and outside decorations but our trees are still up. We were going to start taking them down last Sunday afternoon but it was a mild winter day so we took the dogs to the park instead. I'm glad the're still up. I've really enjoyed lighting up the trees as it starts to get dark this week.
