View Full Version : Christmas Poll: Eve or Day?
Simple question...which is the better day overall, midnight to midnight 24 hours...xmas eve or day?
It's a tough call...but I've ALWAYS said Christmas Eve is my favorite day of the year...this past year Christmas Day did pick up some big ground as now I buy a lot more presents and I really get a kick out of giving people a lot of gifts...and its a great special day butttttt overall due to the amount of traditions I have on eve (basically the whole day from morning through evening is planned out hour for hour) and the fact on eve its like a special day feeling and you still have the next day to look forward to I'd definitely still have to pick Christmas eve as being better.

I also love Christmas Eve. It builds all the excitement up for me on Christmas morning. Plus I usually do alot more Christmas Eve like getting with family for dinner and the kids all exchange gifts. It's fun! And please feel free to send me a gift since you like to buy...*L* I am only kidding Edgecheesy

Christmas Eve without a doubt! It's the greatest day/night of the year!! :-D I'm always sad when we are leaving my parents house after the Christmas Eve festivities are over, cuz I know I have to wait a whole year for my favorite day to roll around again! :( BUT, it always goes fast!!

I love Christmas Eve , even though my girls are older I still try to do the same things I did when they were younger. I still wait to stuff there stockings, & put all the gifts out from Santa that night. This Christmas Eve friends from here helped me welcome in Christmas since I was alone that night.

Christmas Eve definitely for me.
I always try and have everything done for Christmas Eve so I can have a few sherries, a nice lunch and watch my favourite Christmas films.
I also like to take a walk out, just to pass the houses with their decorations up and wonder what all the families are doing for their Christmas festivities behind their closed doors.
There is something truly magical about Christmas Eve.

Christmas Eve. Hands down. Christmas Eve is when you know Christmas is "really" here but you still have Christmas Day to look forward to. Christmas Day is great, don't get me wrong, but there's also something a bit bittersweet about knowing that Christmas Day is pretty much the end of the Christmas season for another year, kwim?

Umm ok sure if you really are that bored cheesy...
9 a.m. wake up, check email etc, normal morning
10 a.m. go to the Rockefeller Preserve (a huge place to walk/jog all that, go there everyday)
11 a.m. go to dunkin donuts for coffee/donut, bring home for family also a donut
noon exercise, help make some dip and Christmas cookies
1 finish that up and transition towards 2
2 take out a couple bags of chips with the dip kind of a hold you over thing to the big Christmas dinner tonight
3 go to the store to pick up the platters we ordered (besides the food we cook we have)
4 come home and start working on cooking
5 a few family/friends come over
5:45 go out for a walk around the blocks that I do every year to see the lights etc (that feels like Christmas more than anything almost)
6:30 come home, help finish and get ready to eat
7 eat the dinner...through 8 until 9
9 clean up, put the leftovers away
10 relax, watch some special Christmas cartoon/videos every year, till about midnight...then go to bed.
oh yeah and I do shower by the way lol, just didn't put that in there!

When I was younger, I used to like Christmas eve better because of the anticipation and the mood. Now, I think I really love both equally because now that I'm pretty much the youngest person in the family (at 23) we draw the festivities out a little longer on Christmas day. We don't open presents until after dinner.

I can't really chose. I love them both. Christmas Eve is more of a mild day filled with the Christmas anticipation feeling. We have little kids and try to make Christmas eve magical without being overwhelmed. We try to keep Christmas Eve to just out little family (hubby, me our kids and my mom as she lives with us) Santa does make his rounds on Christmas Eve on a firetruck handing out candy canes to the kids. It's a very nice calm day.
Christmas day we host breakfest - my dad and his wife come over for that. The rest of the family comes over later in the day and stays for dinner. We pretty much have a full house all day on Christmas.

Without any doubt Christmas Eve. The feeling of it all is so exciting. For me all the month od December up to Christmas Eve is just one exciting moment waiting for Christmas. Honestly the fact that Christmas is nearly over on Christmas Day makes me feel a bit down. But still Christmas with my wife and two children and all our relatives always make up for the disappointment that Christmas is nearly over for another year........Definatley I prefer Christmas Eve.....there so much still to look forward to.

For me, it has to be Christmas Eve. Everything to look forward to and a buzz of anticipation in the air. Dark cold night and after everything is settled for the evening, settle down with a well-thumbed copy of " A Christmas Carol". Perfect. cheesy

I have to agree with Christmas Eve. That's when we go to the Christmas Eve song service at church, then family comes to our house and we have our big evening munch fest, with seafood, hours de hourves, desserts etc., and open the "mom and dad" presents.
Christmas Day we open the "Santa" presents, and then go off somewhere for the big Christmas turkey dinner, which is nice too. But there's just something about being in your own home, with your own kids on Christmas Eve. There's nothing like it.

I love Christmas Eve sitting with my hubby and relaxing. Just the two of us.
When the kids were small I looked forward to when we were done putting presents under the tree and just sitting there looking at the tree and the gifts appreciating how blessed we were to have gifts under the tree.
Kids are gone and there's very few gifts under the tree Christmas Eve but that's ok, I'm still sitting with my hubby and relaxing just the two of us and I love it.

My favorite is Christmas Eve, late in the evening when everyone is home, most of the houses are lit inside and out and the neighborhood is totally quiet. I like to spend a little time outside on those nights in my PJs and robe just soaking in the quiet and listening intently for sleigh bells.
