View Full Version : Poll: How often would you have Christmas?
I guess I like doing polls (am I doing them in the wrong section by the way?)...anyways I was reading about the nut...I mean the guy :-) who dresses up as Santa every day of the year and buys gifts and opens them everyday...and most here even admitted thats too much and would take the specialness of it away. So my question is...
You can make Christmas be anywhere from 0-366 (leap year) days this year...how many times would Christmas be?
Off hand I'd say right away well i'd love to have it 3 or 4 times...and the "season" combined with it would make it most of the year. But after thinking about it for a minute...I can't see getting into the spirit as much in July when we got fireworks or anything...and it would kind of take something away from it. I'd actually, despite loving that time of year so much...would choose to keep it 1 time a year, the way it is now.

Agreed. Once keeps it special.
Too much of a good thing dillutes it.
Think about your favorite song. Would you like it played all day, every day? (Would it still be your favorite song then or would you be sick to death of it?)

I could go for twice a year though. Oh yeah, Christmas in July with the celebration lasting about six weeks and then near the end of November, it all starts again.
That way our friends in Australia (and the like) could celebrate a true White Christmas and I could experience a Green one.
Wonder what turkey would taste like after roasting on an outdoor fire pit?
:hello: I understand what you're saying about repeating it too often, but experiencing the best time of the year - twice a year is something I could live with.
I celebrate Christmas in July, but on a small scale, it would be nice to have it last longer than the week nearest the 24th/25th of July.

:roll:We did roast a turkey on the grill one Christmas! It tasted great!!!! We grill all year. We don't care what it's doing. I will say that I wouldn't grill right now.....it's in the single digits with a wind chill below zero! That's cold! Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...............

I agree with you. Although I wouldn't mind at least leaving my tree up. It tends to be alot of work when it comes to the shopping and getting all your cards out, getting everything decorated, the cooking and baking..etc...so yeah once a year to do it all so to speak is a good thing. And you do enjoy it more vs. doing it everyday. As with alot of things it would get old.

I have to agree with having it once a year, though I wish more people would celebrate Christmas In July! I guess I like being a "unique person" who likes to think & talk about Christmas all year long...if EVERYBODY did it, I might get tired of it. Keeping the Christmas spirit all year & coming to these forums is my own special little thing I do to help make life a little more enjoyable!

I would like to have a mini-Christmas and then the big Christmas. I guess Christmas in July could be my mini-Christmas. I think I am going to try to do something Christmassy then and see how that goes over this year. I wouldn't mind the Christmas season lasting just a little bit longer, though. I know a lot of people think it lasts too long as it is, but not me!cheesy

Once a year is good for me. I like the anticipation, I love the season and the day itself but I'm afraid more than once a year would be too much, kwim?

For us it's kind of like 1 1/2 times a year.
Of course at Christmas we do everything, the decorations, cards, gifts food, etc but last year we started celebrating a toned down Christmas in July.
On July 25th we made dinner and dessert, had close family and friends over, talked about plans for the upcoming Christmas season and watched a Christmas movie.
We had so much fun that we decided to do it this year but add more to it. We are going to do stockings for the kids and do a pollyanna or white elephant for the adults with a $5.00 limit. We will not put any decorations but just may have to bring out the Christmas cds for tha day.

:sparkle:
I guess if it were up to me, I would have Christmas twice. Once on June 25th (the half way point) and on Christmas Day.

ONCE A YEAR! I love Christmas as much as the next guy, but would it really be as special if we had it multiple times per year?

I agree 1x per year. This put it into perspective for me... While helping my MIL to clean her house prior to painting and installing new carpeting in August, we had to take down her Christmas tree that sits in the living room all year (never coming down). I think that it definately takes away the magic. So even though I think about it and am constantly planning for it, I'm voting 1x per year.
