In a stunning turn of events Santa has stopped his sleigh and stopped for what he calls a special visit: he's talking with Saddam Hussein. Iraqi military officials confirm that U.S. military personnel holding Saddam prisoner have granted access to Santa Claus for a personal visit.

Like most conversations, this one between Santa and Saddam is private. Nevertheless, tongues are wagging here at the North Pole because for years as the dictator in Iraq Saddam attempted to distrupt Santa's flight. For those long-time followers of the Santa Updates, you'll remember that Saddam actually fired on Santa's sleigh back in 1998.

Once Santa is done with Saddam there is a great deal of work to do in Iraq. The country has exploded with new believers over the last two years and Santa has many stops to make. The husbands, wives, mothers, daughters, sons and fathers of U.S. military personnel have spent many hours writing to Santa Claus and he makes special efforts for them, especially since they are away from their families during the holidays.

Santa is definitely moving at a slower pace right now. This kind of Santa care takes time. Maybe this area of the world was the reason Santa was rushing so much earlier in his flight.
