Hello all,

I'm wondering what might be the best method to mend small cracks in blowmolds. I just want to seal 'em up if I find any.

Any information or points to it will be greatly appreciated!

That depends on a few things. If you're going to light them from the inside, any repair you make is going to be pretty obvious. If you light them from the outside with a spotlight, though, you can get away with a lot more. For just small cracks, a bit of super glue would probably be the easiest and least likely to stick out.

You can go there (CC), or on Planet Christmas (PC) and search for posts by Carrie Sansing who has some educational tutorials on blowmold repair.
I have seen videos of her in action at PLUS 2007, where she covered stripping an old mold, repairing small cracks and large gaps, then painting, etc.
She really runs a "blowmold hospital".

What is a blowmold? That's not a term that I'm familiar with.

These are blowmolds AC...they are hard plastic characters such as snowmen, santas, elves etcthey come in all sizes and colors...you plug them in and they light up. They can be used in and outdoors. I only own one myself. A santa head, it lights up and I hang it outside... I have also added some pics. for you to view.

From my understanding a plastic welder works well.

Plastic welder?? never hurd of that my brother was a welder dont know if he ever used one of them before.
