We have made some adjustments to access levels and permissions on the Merry Forums. These changes have been made to improve security, prevent spam and to accommodate future capabilities planned for the Merry Forums.
For a very limited number of people, especially those who may have registered within the past 30 days or so, there may be some changes in what you can see and what you can access.
If you have issues with these changes, please contact me personally to discuss your concerns. We have three levels of access here at the Merry Forums:
Registered User
New users who register at the forums are put into this group until they accumulate 25 posts on the Merry Forums. Registered users are granted the following access and benefits:
- Can view forums and threads in public areas
- Can search the forums
- Can post and reply to threads in public areas
- Can vote on polls
- Can have 10 stored private messages
- Can view the calendar
- Can edit own profile
- Can view other’s profile pictures
- Can view photo albums of other users
- Shown on the member list
Gold Member
After you have been registered for at least 10 days and have made 25 posts on the forums registered users are automatically promoted to the “Gold Member” group with these expanded forum benefits:
- Can view forums and threads in public areas plus use email-to-a-friend and download features
- Can search the forums
- Can post and reply to threads in public areas
- Can edit own threads
- Can rate threads
- Can tag threads and the threads of others
- Can delete tags on own threads and create tags
- Can upload attachments up 5mb
- Can post and vote on polls
- Can have 50 stored private messages
- Can use private message tracking and deny private message read receipt requests
- Can copy private messages to up to 5 users at a time
- Can view the calendar
- Can view and post calendar events
- Can view other’s events
- Can view Who’s Online
- Can view member info
- Can edit own profile
- Can view other’s profile pictures
- Can use a friend’s list
- Can upload profile pictures up to 100x100, up to 650kb
- Can upload custom and animated avatars up to 80x80, up to 200kb
- Can use signatures, maximum of 3 lines
- Can upload static images in signature, 500x300 max size up to 200kb
- Maximum of 2 signature images
- Can use forum reputation system
- Can have a photo album and upload pictures up to 600x600, 1mb
- Maximum of 100 album pictures
- Can comment on pictures and edit own comments
- Can view photo albums of other users
- Shown on the member list
- Can post visitor messages to own profile
- Can post visitor message on profiles of others
- Can join social groups
- Can create social groups
- Can view social groups
- Can manager social group messages
- Can access chat on the Merry Forums
- Can view and add elements on the Merry Forums Googlemap
- Can have and manage own blog
Platinum Members
After you have made 1500 posts AND have been either registered for 150 days or achieved 5000 reputation points you are automatically promoted to platinum membership in the Merry Forums.
Optionally, you can make a monetary donation (http://www.mymerrychristmas.com/forum/misc.php?do=donate) of $10 to the Merry Forums for access to this level.
In addition to the above features, as a platinum member you enjoy these benefits:
- Access to limited special areas of MMC and the Merry Forums (including unlimited posting in the Christmas Marketplace)
- Expanded post and thread permissions allowing deletion of own posts and threads
- Upload unlimited attachments
- Expanded private message storage of up to 500 messages
- Can copy private messages to up to 10 users
- Full un-moderated calendar permissions
- Can set self to “invisible” mode
- Can use custom titles
- Can email members
- Profile picture can be 200x200, up to 1250kb
- Avatars can be up to 150x150, 400kb
- Can use signatures, maximum of 5 lines
- Can upload static images in signature, 700x500 max size up to 400kb
- Maximum of 4 signature images
- Can hide reputation from others and can leave negative reputation
- Can have a photo album and upload pictures up to 1200x1200, 2mb
- Maximum of 200 album pictures
- Full customization of personal profile page
- Can manage own social groups
- Full chat access
- Full blog features
