It shouldn't Hollybow. I know last year we did a card exchange and I received lots of cards from all over the place...outside of the USA too! You may just need to send it a little earlier is all. To make sure it arrives on time.

Not wishing to be difficult (although it DOES seem to be something I excel in...) the link is advertising the 2008 Christmas Card Exchange, even though it takes you to the ornament exchange page.
It's just that some people might want to do the cards and not the ornament and might inadvertently get signed up for it, if they don't read it properly.......
Just thought I'd mention it

This is going to be so much fun! I think it would be great to sent an ornament to someone oversees!!!! I am new to this. Do we send something they request or is it a surprise?:rudolph:

Ornaments...
Do we make an ornament or buy one?
Jeff Westover
06-09-2008, 06:55 PM
Whether you make an ornament or buy one, that's up to you. Who you send it to will not be known until near the end of enrollment (can you feel the suspense building?). Be thinking about how to ship it to arrive in good shape...no matter where it goes.

when I fill in my adress 2 times IŽll get 2 ornaments, right? 8-) just kidding...
Do we have a budget on the ornaments?
Jeff Westover
06-11-2008, 07:24 AM
Yes, you cannot spend more than $50,000
Annette1990
06-11-2008, 08:13 AM
Wow! Looks like we all may be getting more than one ornament. 50,000 is alot of ornaments since they usually cost between 5.00 and up. I'm all for this...*L
I sure can't wait for this event. It's going to be lots of fun!

do we get the name emailed to us that we ship to? And then one shows up for us in our mailbox?

I like the way you think!!!!
Yuletide, I've never done this before either but I'm pretty sure that's the way it works. Everybody gets emailed the name and address of the person they have to send an ornament to. I think we get them round about the 1st week in October (think I read that somewhere) so if, for example, you had to send one to ....ooh, let's see....SCOTLAND (!) it would make it in plenty of time
:))

Can't wait, but I think that there should be a set price. Or at least between you and your ornament buddie :)
Maureen
06-11-2008, 02:03 PM
Ah, good point Clare! Sorry, going off on a tangent but do we actually have a buddy to exchange with. For example - I get sent.....Irishgirl's details. Does she get me or will she get somebody completely different???
JayIsh

Actually...The way I think it might work best is if I pick the person I'd like to send to, and then everyone else sends them to me...Sound good?

I wouldn't mind getting an overseas exchange either. I think that would be wonderful to obtain something that would be signify that country around Christmas time. All the same, I live in Texas...I'm sure my wife and I can think of something to signify the USA while adding something nifty to send someone overseas that adds some Texan/western flavor, which is a different side of the US to offer.

Now I think it would be interesting to hear how everyone displays their cards. That has always been tough for me...I hate to tape stuff on the walls. And the goofy card holders never hold them all. Just putting them in a basket only will show the top card...thoughts?

Has anyone ever sent glass ornaments. If so how would you package it good to keep it from breaking? Just curious about some of the answers.

Carefully wrap it in lots and lots of bubble wrap and fill the box with either some "popcorn" (styrofoam) or straw (not real straw of course). Better to use a slightly larger box and add extra styrofoam, just make sure it doesn't shift. You can find it all at a paper shop or office supply store or packaging companies.....
