Ah, what is potentially the worst part of Christmas has come upon me. Today I took down the tree at work, leaving the office just gray and cold. I reserved one bulb over my desk as a reminder. Now I have to go home and take down the tree there. Luckily, our home won't be gray and cold afterwards, but it will be a sign of the end (or hibernation) of the season. When do you guys take down your decorations? Do you leave anything up all year? Outside decorations look really tacky in the summer, but something small to look at now and again is nice. One year, we waited until February to take down the tree. I was singing all summer long, "When we finally kiss goodnight, how I'll hate going out in the storm..." 8) :D :)

Finally someone who feels the way I do. I also dislike taking my tree down. I am a newbie to the forum as well and was looking for others who feel the same way I do about saying goodbye to Christmas for another year. My family thinks I'm nuts. I am listening to Christmas music as I type this. It's the warmth and the beauty of it not the commercialism or presents. It's the Christmas feeling. I took my tree down the day after New Years. I live in Florida so it really is harder to keep it up longer when it's almost 80 in January. :)

:-) I was going to take my decorations down last weekend. After going to one of the malls and discovering all of the decorations and Santa's visiting area gone, I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I promised my husband, I'd tackle it this weekend. I'll listen to Christmas music while I put things away. I did not decorate as much this year as I have in previous years because of our cat - he just turned a year on Jan. 5th and he would have destroyed everything. For the most part, we decorated the Master Bedroom - I'm glad it is so spacious, I don't know what I would have done if I had not found a spot for the Christmas Tree. :)

My mom just emailed me and told me there were a couple of houses in Dundalk, MD that still has their Christmas lights up. Maybe we should make this a contest. Who has people in their area that still haven't taken down their decorations.

I just found out a lady from church just took her trees down last week. When I say trees I mean she had six of them in her house. She also had like 30,000 lights outside. I can't wait to see her house next year. Had I known I would have visited this year. :) :) :) :) :) :)

Maybe she'll let you help her set them up this year. Chances are, if she waits this long to take them down, she's going to put them up earlier than Thanksgiving. She must have a big family. Don't know why I say that, but it seems like she would have.

I don't think she has a big family. If she does they are older and out of the house. She's an older lady but she is an interior decorator so I think it's more because it's her gift. :)
