Im just in one of my Christmassy moods today... its kind of cold here today and windy so the kids and I are staying in were sitting here watching Elf and I've been online buying new Christmas ornaments.
When the movie's over were going to make a batch of cookies....
Anyone else doing anything Christmassy today???:hello:

It is a cool, drippy day here too...snow level looks like it dropped to about 5500 feet last night as the mountains are blanketed in white. I'll be working today :(

Your last entry sounded VERY Christmassy, the Christmasnut!!! And yours too, Mumof2!! I DID accomplish things this week. I sorted things into bankers boxes -- gifts (by type), decorations; wrappings, etc. Not finished - and I don't have an inventory yet. But the progress in getting things organized feels great! Also, the Christmas notebook now has calendar pages for 2008!

Holiday - Thank you SO MUCH for posting the holiday shows for the week!!!! It makes it SO much easier for me to do routine things while I watch them! Things like the endless cycle of putting away groceries, cooking, doing dishes and cleaning the kitchen. I don't do elaborate meals, but it does take lots of time. I don't have a crockpot though, and people do say they save lots of effort.

Yes Sparklenana....it is so much easier to do the "boring chores" with a little Christmas added in....I like to listen to either Christmas music or as you suggested have a Christmas movie playing....don;t really sit down and watch...gotta keep moving or ALL is lost...LOL....but is nice to hear the familar exchanges and watch a good scene every once in awhile.

Today - somewhere on this forum - someone printed a press release from the Lifetime Cable TV channel about Christmas in July. Apparently Christmas movies will begin at 9 AM on the 4th of July. And go all day. There will be lots more on the weekend. This news immediately started my planning -- lots of tough, routine work can get done while those Christmas movies are playing. You're right, Gingerbug, no sitting down to watch -- the movies inspire work (while listening intently, and glancing up frequently!)

Of course -- after enough work has been done to exhaust the worker, it is advisable to sit down and WATCH the remaining Christmas movies intently. ALSO, if there is a Christmas movie which is completely new and unseen by the worker, the rules allow the worker to suspend all activity and watch the movie with full attention!!

I have been so Christmassy these last couple of days!! Yesterday I placed a large order from LTD & an even larger order from Bronners! I ordered a lot of Christmas presents, including a "baby's 1st Christmas" ornament for my new Goddaughter, and I ordered the 1st figurines (Mary, Joseph & baby Jesus) to start a "Fontanini" nativity scene for her. I will give her a new piece to the set every year, so it should be complete when she is 19. I am really excited about that. I also ordered some personalized ornaments for friends "from our house to yours" with our names on the houses, and I ordered a couple "our 1st Christmas together" ornaments for 2 friends who were married this year. And I ordered a "1st Christmas In Our New Home" ornament for friends who just built a new house. I ordered a lot of fun stuff from LTD too! Also, yesterday I placed our order for tickets to the Trans Siberian Orchestra Christamas concert! I am bubbling over with Christmas spirit this week! :-D
I am also excited to try a new recipe this weekend. I am in a Yahoo group that tries a new recipe every month, hoping to find new recipes for Christmas. This month the theme is breakfast & we are trying a Blueberry French Toast Casserole. My hubby & I are going away with my sister, her hubby & another couple this weekend, so they are going to be my guinea pigs on Sunday morning! Maybe a new Christmas tradition will be born??

I've done my list making already (I started on it in Feb.), I listen to Christmas music all the time but, what I did that really made it feel like Christmas was I went to this little estate store down the street and bought all of the apple jack tarts they had and an apple jack candle! That smell is just so great and it makes the house smell festive to me. It's a warm inviting scent. I also did some spring cleaning in the fall yesterday and got that out of the way so that things will be in order for Christmas decorating. This Friday I'll be finishing up my brother's apartment by adding Christmas icicle lights to his 3 other windows. I'm glad he likes his place decorated early because it helps get it out of my system and it holds me off from putting up my own stuff! I also might go to a Christmas craft show next weekend.

I am anxious for halloween to come so I can put up my tree. It is a tradition that I have been doing for years. But today I wrapped and unwrapped gifts working on christmas gift baskets. Made three baskets already and I am getting really excited about my tree. Our renter is moving in the next week and half then the tree can come up! I have already stacked all my wrapped gifts in the living room. and cleaned off my counter top to place the baskets of goodies and candles on. Have to keep them up high because of the chocolates and we have two dogs with a sweet tooth!:rudolph:

Working on decluttering/cleaning the guest room/office. After over a year of on-and-off work -- PROGRESS is visible. In fact, if I dare say it, there is light at the end of the tunnel! In the past, I have locked the door to this room when we had parties. Now... I can see that someday ... guests may be able to stay in this room comfortably! This makes me feel very much in the christmas spirit!!!

Doing anything Christmassy today? Why... yes I am!
I am going to a bAby shower tomorrow. Today I went to Macy's to buy the gift. (Note to shoppers: go to the Macy's web site and print out the 20% off coupon. It is good for the full day of shopping.)
What is Christmassy about that, you ask? (In kind of a cranky voice, too.)
The baby gift I bought is --- an infant santa suit. In soft warm red velvet with soft white trim -- And Santa belt! And --- it came with a matching Santa's hat!!!
And it was 30% off. Plus my printed 20% coupon --- it was 50% off! Before the sale, it was bordering on too too expensive. After the sale -- it was a lovely festive gift!!!!
I even bought a red velour stocking at the dollar store, in case they wish to put the bottom half of the baby into the stocking for photo ops.
Festive, mai oui?

Yes - I put more lights on my Christmas tree -- and started putting decorations on. I also went outside to check the multi-colored lights in the area of the front door -- and they work! So tonight I will turn them on.
I haven't yet checked the white twinkling lights which are in the big bushes all along the long side of the fence. If they work - I will turn them on tonight. If not, I'll work on them tomorrow.
I saw one house decorated with lots of Christmas lights on the drive home from Thanksgiving dinner. It looked beautiful!!!! Merry Christmas!

I started the rest of my decorating yesterday and I am still not done. I don't even have my main tree up yet! I still have to get my outside lights up as well. All we have up out there is our wreath on the side of the house. I got a lot done yesterday but, I just lost my steam by the evening and laid down to take a nap and didn't get up until this morning! So, now I have a lot to do. I have to put up my mom's tree and decorate the fire dept. this weekend. I hope I can get it all done.

Santa's Helper -- it is so nice that you decorate the fire department! Is there a party there? Does anyone work with you?
I still have tons to do in the way of decorating! Lots more ornaments to put on the tree. (It seems each ornament hook stabs me. That slows things down. Also I am not persistent.) There are tubs everywhere - but they are slowly emptying of decorations.
I hope there are some inspiring Christmas shows on television today. I have used up all my inspiration and energy. If it gets desperate -- I WILL go to Starbucks for a latte!!!!!!!

Thank you very much! Nobody works with me I just started doing it myself. I thought that they needed a little Christmas spirit down there and offered to do it one year. I bought all of the stuff myself, I didn't ask them for any money as their money is tight. They don't have a party or anything like that I just think that they all hang out there and for many it's like a second home. So, why not make it feel like home with some Christmas decorations? I also decorate their gazebo with lights and garland as well. This year I'm going to try to get the guys to climb on the roof and put lights around the building as well. The only thing that they do that's Christmassy is they stuff bags with candy to hand out to the kids in the township here, they take Santa out on the firetruck and hand out candy to the kids that come out to see him. Then we (me included) go to the Nun's house that is in our service area and take special candy up to them. They always get a kick out of us coming there and we sing carols with them in front of the tree. I think I'm going to start a new tradition this year and get a firetruck ornament with our company name on it and the year on it as well so that they can hang it on their tree. They don't have any ornaments on their tree at all. I just think that since we go each year that it would be nice to give an annual ornament as well. It's really fun to do! I'm not an active member, I'm what they call an "associate member or a social member". Meaning I don't run calls I just go to parades and work at all of their events that they have and I am the official Christmas decorator!

I have been watching Christmas movies off and on all day. That helps keep me motivated. I will work up a sweat and then take a break and watch the Christmas movies and start over again. I love all the Christmas movies.
The house is in great shape. Now if I can only keep it that way.

Thanks to Wenceslaus, I checked out the television schedule for today. There are a lot of shows to look forward to! Real life activities are calling me (cleaning, laundry, bills, etc.)
This will be a very good day to turn the lights on the Christmas tree. It is dark and rainy and cold outside. (And - put more decorations on the tree.)

It's cold, rainy and nasty here in Kentucky. We are getting a light accumulation of snow later tonight.
Anyway, this is a nice day to stay inside and decorate for Christmas.
I have two rooms left to clean and then I'll start putting up my tree. Next, I'll tackle the Christmas village. If there's time left, I'll start putting up the MANY other decorations throughout the house. :merry:
I plan to watch a couple of Christmas movies, while I decorate, and enjoy a few cups of pumpkin spice coffee. YUM!
Have a fun day, folks!

I've actually been listening to Christmas music for the past several months and I'm currently in the process of transferring a lot of my Christmas vinyl and cassettes to CD.
In addition to that, I've been watching a few Christmas movies here and there (i.e., "The Polar Express")...:snowball:

Actually, my kids took our Christmas tree to school for a play (it was part of a forest), and it's home now. Rather than pack it away, I think we're clearing out our "tree corner" and putting it up this weekend. Holidays came early this year...

Did I do anything Christmassy today???
Well, let me think...hmmm.....yep, sure did. I went on that organized christmas website a couple of weeks ago and started my planner/binder book which I carry with me EVERYWHERE I go except to bed, LOL. So, today, I made my menu list for Christmas Eve and updated some addresses in it for my Christmas Cards. Yep, I did Christmassy stuff today and I'm so proud of it cheesy

It's snowing in here in Brooklyn... I'm sipping coffee with almond milk and a little pumpkin spice in it with my husband... listening to my Nat King Cole pandora station - my favorite... and it just feels like Christmas. Funniest part? I've been listening to Christmas music on my IPOD. What's cool about that is there are several different styles of Christmas music that you can choose. Some days I'm in the mood for Traditional, others I'm in the mood for something more recent. Either way, it helps make it feel like Christmas a little more each time.

Went to Yankee Candle yesterday, it has a huge Christmas shop, and Santa is there year round (I posted some photos in an album of Yankee Candle today) the kids enjoyed seeing all of the trees and it snows inside one of the rooms, they have a Christmas village room, and a Kringle Market, we try to go at least once a year if not twice, it is only 45 min away.
