Are any of you still enjoying winter? (Jeff?) We have a firm grasp on spring here in Nashville so, apart from that one house I pass each day that still has it's Christmas lights up, this website will have to provide my Christmas fix for the next 8 months. My parents have had snow in the last couple days, but they live just off Lake Erie so they get it until late April each year.

Here in San Francisco Bay we've had more rain and snow than the usual winter. And only on the last month! Hope it's gone soon.

 we are just starting to get cooler especially in themornings, so it means our fires will be coming on in late April early May, when you guys are heating up, at least I can look forward to christmas in July, so I"m trying to get the best out of the last of the warmth here until spring which starts in september, but it doesn't start to really warm up till October. :-)

We have been going through that psycho time of year where it is amazingly spring-like one day and blizzard-like the next. It has everyone going through the cold medication like crazy!

I have to admit that I'm ready for something consistent.

As for my Christmas fix, I'm neck-deep in Christmas projects -- some new tweaks for this site, MMC and a couple of new adventures to launch in the coming months. I'm doing Christmas now year round!

We are in that stage, too. Last week it felt like summer! This week it has been bitterly cold. Next week we will be warming up to the 60s! I am so ready for Spring. I am not looking forward to Summer, though. I can't stand the heat and humidity! Once July hits, I'll be begging for Autumn.

I guess this is why retired people move around to find the weather that suits them best. Although I was raised in northwest Pennsylvania, which has snow in late April and early May some years, I have lived in the south for enough years that I even tire of winters in Nashville. I don't mind the coldness as long as we have something to show for it.

Well, I do know this. While I'm tired of winter right now I will more quickly tire of summer. By mid-May I'll be aching for fall. The heat, at least here in the west , can be so taxing.

I'd love to think it could snow here for Christmas in SW Florida, but it only happens in my dreams. :-)

You know, Twinkle, it could happen. The coldest Christmas Day ever in Tampa (I'm guessing that is close enough to count) was in 1983 when it got down to 20º. The day after Christmas that year it was 19º. However, the very next year they set a record high for Christmas Day with 84º, so you just can't tell. Where were you in 1983?

I know I'm a little slow on the uptake, Jeff, but did you say you get tired of the heat by mid-May? SLC doesn't even get hot, on average, until late June. Do you just have a low tolerance for heat or am I missing something? We have had several warm, even hot days here in Nashville already (By hot I mean 85º) and I have changed my PC wallpaper to a Christmas snow scene already. 8)

Oh yeah, I'm sick of the heat. And no, we have not had a hot day yet though I'm willing to bet that by the middle of next week I won't be able to say that.

For me, it is all about routine.

As usual, I've got to get the fertilizer on the lawn by this weekend. If I don't, it'll burn the grass no matter how much water I drown it with. It is either one or the other here. Seems we go straight from late winter into late Spring in Utah...very little true spring weather ever comes our way. Memorial Day is ALWAYS hot. You can put money on it. Another rite of spring is servicing the old swamp cooler, which, in four weeks time, will prove itself absolutely worthless.

As for my wall paper, it is always a snow scene. I come to REALLY appreciate it this time of the year.

Hi Jeff, Actually Tampa is about a 2 1/2 hr. drive north and it does get pretty cool there in winter months..Naples is very south west..It is a rare thing to even have frost in the coldest of winter months. But one never knows...anything is possible.

OK, Twinkle, Naples did get really cold on Christmas Day 1989 - 28º. But, you probably had no precipitation to show for it. I recommend moving north or at least taking a well-deserved holiday to a nice B&B up in snow country for Christmas. You'll have stories and pictures to show the family and friends for years.

Wow! Sheepsnot: Then maybe there is still hope for us in south Florida. I have only lived here for 7 years and was not aware of that cold Christmas day in Naples in '89. I am originally from Maryland and every holiday season would hope and pray for snow...sometime we lucked out and hope became a wonderful reality. But hope for snow in my neck of the woods now are slim but I have faith... :-)

Well as Twinkle has already stated it's hot hot hot here. No sign of winter nor rain for that matter in well over a month. I can't complain cause that's why I moved here. I'm not a fan of cold. I can celebrate Christmas no matter the temperature. I admit a bit of the cool stuff is nice for Christmas but I manage to make the best of it. I'm in between Naples and Tampa. I think I've seen it get in the 30's in the 3 years I've been here. I think it's the combination of cold and getting dark earlier that really affected me up north. I lived in Maryland for 7 years before moving here. I grew up in Pennsylvania. I've had more of my share of the white stuff. Sorry don't miss it. 8)

So both Twinkle and HolyNight7 live in Florida and hail from Maryland. Quite a cool coincidence, though I'm sure there are thousands of folks from every state in the union living in FL. HN7, where in PA were you raised? I'm from the northwest corner, near Erie. On a separate note, I got a really curious look from the Managing Director of Finance (or something like that) because when he came into my warehouse I was listening to Burl Ives again, singing Christmas music like no one else can. I then showed him my Christmas wallpaper and he just sighed and rolled his eyes. He should be happy. If it was not for me, the office would not get decorated each year.

I was born and raised in Reading, PA. My mother lived in Meadville for a very short time which isn't too far from Erie. I had Christmas music on at my desk as well but not loud enough for anyone to hear. I guess I'm not out of the closet about my fasination with Christmas. Your a braver one than me.

I was born in the Meadville Hospital! Can't remember much about it, though. I figure they must have dropped me or something. All I know about Reading is that they used to have a really good drum and bugle corps called the Reading Buccaneers back in the late 70s. As far as coming out of the closet is concerned (revealing one's year-round Christmas spirit, for anyone just joining in), it was involuntary. I was listening and didn't realize the music was still playing until I got "that look." You know the look, the one that says, "Don't ask for a raise this year, you nut job!"

Okay. I know it's only May, but these past couple of days I've been brainstorming ideas for this Christmas. I've made a list of things I want to do this year. I always seem to run out of time every year, so this year I have a Christmas account at my bank which I will receive in October. I plan to get all of my Christmas done BEFORE December. I want to enjoy December!

I've started planning our annual cookie exchange: what kind of games to play, list of invitees, etc.

I've started planning what we are doing the weekend of Christmas and Christmas day. Last year we went to my grandmother's which was about 1 1/2 away. It is always so hectic and so crowded. This year we are staying home. I love Grandma, but I can't stand so much stress on Christmas day! Plus I have to work the next day. I figured we spend Christmas day evening with my mom. Christmas Eve is spent with my hubby's family.

I've decided that I want to throw a Christmas party this year. Now I'm trying to decide what kind of party: appetizer party? dessert party? Gingerbread house making party? Pizza and chicken wing party?

Decisions, decisions!!!!

I know I'm probably crazy, but I just love Christmas! Actually, I love the months of September-December. September and October are all Autumn for me and I love that time of year! I pull out the fall decorations on September 1st and the Halloween decorations on October 1st. I usually have a Christmas Crafts Open House in my home in November, so some Christmas decorations come out then. The main decorations don't usually come out until the day after Thanksgiving and the tree goes up that Saturday.

Well, enough rambling! Just wanted to see if I'm really crazy!

That's exactly the kind of rambling that made me join this wonderful group in the first place. Keep it up! As I have said before, getting my shopping done is easy because my wife does all of it. I buy her gift and that's it. Now, about those parties, the main course is not as crucial as the presence of eggnog.
