My dad, Frederic Washington, died when I was 9 years old. We never really knew each other. I guess it had to do with the fact that after I had turned six, my parents were divorced --- my mom, Ola Mae Avery, ultimately got physical custody of me, as I remember --- but having a Dad means everything to most of us who are members here at ClausNET.com. In fact, some of you are, in fact, father-and-son Santas --- truly a rare and surprising team-up, to say the least!
Still, as we come to the time of this coming Father's Day, I'd like to remind all our ClausNET.com members --- be proud of those very special (and, dare I say it) really macho guys who shaped you into who you are today. They are the ones we call Dad. They made us what we are. We learned from them. They taught us well. And, as Jonathan Kent was quick to remind young Clark:
".......and there's one thing I do know, son, and that is: you are here for a reason."
