In the Organizing for Christmas Chat 2...we were talking about setting up a notebook but honestly setting up the notebook is only half the process...the real challenge is USING the notebook consistently to help you accomplish your goals. So here are some ideas for getting the most out of your Christmas Planner:
1. If you are just starting your planner...keep it SIMPLE....you will have the urge to print and make sections for everything everyone mentions (I know this because I did it) But start slowly and discover the ones that you actually NEED...those are the ones you will USE....for example if you do not enterttain...you will not need the party planner sheets right now...if later you want to host a party...you know where to get the forms!! If you don't send cards...you won't need a card section etc...
2. Keep your notebook out and about...so you see it frequently...maybe by your chair in the living room where you can browse through it during TV. Make it a goal to look at your notebook at least twice a week.
3. Remeber just having a lovely planner will not get you organized...you have to actually DO some of the things in your planner...so the calendars and timeline are the first step. List ALL the things you have to do to get ready for Christmas and then set little deadlines for doing them...jot these on your calendar!
4. Make it simple but make it pretty...I think when something is nice to look at...we use it more often.
I am going to discuss the sections in my actual working notebook in another thread.
