Welcome to our newest member, AmyHardy
My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

I was going to bed an hour ago, and I have to much on my mind at this point. I go back to the real world tomorrow, kicking and screaming, now that my Christmas vacation is over. I love spending so much time with my wife and kids, it is the best thing in the world to see them grow, but as is always the case with the end of a vacation, I struggle with losing that time that I just spent with them. I work the opposite schedule from my wife, she leaves at 7am, I leave midday and don't get home until 9:30-10:30pm, I see her for less than an hour a day during the week. I was thinking today that my older boy JP, I see less than my wife, he is at school for most of the day, and in bed when I get home at night, the time he is home at the same time with me I am getting ready for the day, making breakfast for my boys, and loading him on the bus. I feel so guilty, because I spend so much time with LC now, when JP was 2, I was home by 5 every night, we would hang out and play, I would take him across the street and field to see the trains go by at 6:30 every night. I feel my relationship with him has lost its feel, the lack of time together, and my work schedule has hurt "us." I love him so much and I worry about the relationship we will have in the future, my father and I don't have any relationship whatsoever and we live 2.5 miles apart.
My boys and wife are everything to me, I don't want to be short with JP anymore, he is just a rambunctious 5 year old, and I forget that sometimes when I yell at him over remedial things. This New Year I will try to recover what I feel I lost with my boy. I will take my time and listen when he is describing his favorite things, I will nurture his learning by helping him when he needs it. I want to be everything to him my father wasn't to me, most of all just being there for him.

You are a wonderful father. I know how important your family is to you, but don't be too hard on yourself. You are still a human and are bound to snap or be uninterested at times. Knowing that you love them and miss spending time with them is already a great gift to your family. I hope somehow you get what you really want, spending more time with your wife and children in the future.
