Saturday, Octobear 20, 2012 8:22 a.m. Thanksgiving is only 32 days from today I hope your Thanksgiving preparations are underway. Getting the very first cold front here in FL going to be 62 degrees tomorrow morning. I'm having friends over tomorrow for test batch of corn bread and breakfast. Also have my foodie friends coming over Sunday, Novembear 11, 2012 for my annual side dish supper.

Friday, September 2, 2011 2:08 p.m. Every year at this time I sit down and start to make my Thanksgiving preparations. I begin by re-seasoning my cast iron skillet. I'm checking to see what I do or don't have in my kitchen cabinets. I have two lists I make one for the ice box and one for the pantry.

Here are my lists of Thanksgiving Essentials to help you prepare for Thanksgiving Day.

Pantry Items:

Baking Soda (check date on box)
Baking Powder (check date on box)
Corn Starch (check date on box)
White or Yellow Corn Meal
Kitchen Basic's Cooking Stocks
Salt & Pepper
Fresh or Dried Spices (poultry seasoning etc)
Sugar
All Purpose Flour
Coffee & Filters
Burner Bibs for the stove
Tupperware containers for leftovers
Aluminum Foil
Parchment Paper
Quart and Gallon Size Freezer Bags

Refrigerator Items:

Whole Milk (check date on carton)
Buttermilk (check date on carton)
Salted and Unsalted Butter or Margarine
Heavy Whipping Cream
1/2 and 1/2 (check date on carton)
Extra Large or Jumbo Eggs (check date)
Carrots
Celery
Onions
Fresh Herbs (Rosemary, Sage and Thyme)
Sour Cream (check date on carton)
Cream Cheese
Corn Meal White or Yellow

Basic Kitchen Essentials:

Turkey Roasting Pan with rack with handles
Cutlery Set (sharp carving knife)
Serving Platter
7 or 8 quart Stock Pot
9 inch cast iron skillet well seasoned
Gravy Boat(s)
Linen table cloth and dinner napkins
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Glass Pie plates pies
Bread Basket for dinner rolls
Glasses for water and wine

Dinner Plates or bowls

Silverware for all guests
Turkey Baster or Pastry Brush

Fully charged hand held device
Batteries for cell phone or camera

*I plug my camera into the charger right before I go to bed on Thanksgiving Wednesday

Check and double check your guest list make up places cards for each guest and start reviewing your family recipes.

Miscellaneous Essentials

Decorative Items for the table

Coleman Cooler
Place Cards for the table
Dog Food

Cat Litter
Prescription medications

** I use 5- 7 inch inch white or cream colored candles for my table. Never use a scented or colored candle. If the wax from a colored candle drips onto your table cloth you will never be able to remove that stain.
