My name is Ron, I am a Christmas nut always have been always will be. I am first and foremost a stay at home dad that has an evening job at a retail/grocery establishment. After my second son was born I stepped down from my management position, so my wife and I don't have to pay for daycare. My wife is a teacher in the town we live, so people recognize us everywhere in our little town.
My wife and I have been married for 9 years. We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3, both are young Christmas nuts.

I have loved Christmas as long as I remember
from seeing the lights on all the houses, to seeing if I could stay awake to see Santa.
Christmas has been the one constant in my life it has always been there for me, through the rough times of my parents divorce when I was 10 y/o or my mother's passing when I was 16.
Everyone always tried to make it something special for myself and sister when we were young no matter what was going on. I now believe that is why I love this time of year more than any other because of the efforts of my family to hold it above any other time of year. I get to make the season special for my boys now, whether it be by playing the music decorating the house and yard or just playing the dvd's. The memories the season has brought have always warm and it is no wonder why I look forward to making more of these memories every year. My favorite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story my favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. My favorite Christmas artist is Bing Crosby.
Well if I ran on a little bit I am sorry I am new to blogging, it sounds always better in your mind.
I will try to keep posting and making it interesting for all who read.

Just after Christmas 2011, I was trying to figure out something to do to keep my focus on Christmas, and not the Post-Christmas Blues. I had in my mind a plan to try to listen to a Christmas song a day whether it be on MCR, Youtube, or pull out a CD. Then I thought it would be more fun to share my plan with my family on MMC and write a little blurb about it daily. So on January 1, 2012 Christmas Song a Day, All Year Long Thread was born.

New Year's Day is one of the most depressing day of the year to me, just because that is the milestone when a lot of people feel that the Christmas Season is over, and being such a Christmas nut I find that a very hard thing to get over. On that January morning I selected my first song "Christmas Auld Lang Syne" by Bobby Darin, I brought that song out on New Year's Day just to tie up a nice little bow on Christmas and New Year's together. I received encouraging words from the very beginning from all of you, and I started by going with what I knew for Christmas songs, your singing dogs, Bing Crosby, Elvis Presley and so on. It was a fun start and I was fully enjoying listening to those well known and loved songs. Soon enough I started to go with songs that were describing my feelings of the day, like finding a song about taking down the tree, I found a song with that name, it is not a great song, but it did the job. I injured my foot in January 2012, and was home for 6 weeks, the thread was now a focus for me because I couldn't do much but watch TV, go online, and sleep. I started to delve into the "unknown*" side of Christmas songs. I searched Youtube, for "psychedelic Christmas songs," "funny Christmas songs," and so on. That is where I started finding some great songs that most people don't know. I found songs by a group, called Rotary Connection, the song Shopping Bag Menagerie (which since has been deleted on Youtube) it was a great sound the strings were beautiful, but it was a melancholic Christmas song but it was a "new" sound and I loved it. Another one was by a group called Two & a Half their song Christmas Will Be 'Round Again was just a fun song about the family gathering. I really enjoyed that song. The Spring/summer was a hard time to keep the music going, I was losing interest and was going through the motions many days at that point, but I worked through it. As September was approaching, I got reinvigorated and started to really have fun again, the approaching season, and the anticipation just drove me again.

As Christmas came and went, I thought I was going to be wrapping up the thread, a full year, I did it! 366 Days in a row of sharing a song, I was proud of myself, and the encouragement I was getting made me realize people were enjoying my song choices. When people were saying they were adding the songs to their playlists I knew I did something correct, by introducing "new" songs to people. That is the best thing I have taken out of this experience. The possibility of sharing stuff with all of you.

I meant to end the thread on December 31, 2012 but I could not even make it through January 1 without posting, so here we are 414 days in a row, and I don't think I will be stopping it, I love searching for those "lost" songs, it has been an eye opening experience, what I have discovered, and I know there is a lot I have yet to discover. I haven't really touched Country Christmas music, and very little jazz, those genres don't really appeal to me, but I know if I want to keep it going I will delve into that.
Thank you all for the support and encouragement in the search for Christmas music, I look forward to finding more hard to find songs for all of you.
